Hell yeah brother! FREEDOM CYCLE NEW HAMPSHIRE! I just bought my 2022 SSR SR 160TX yesterday! Going this week to get one for the wife! We live in Franklin. So cool that I stumbled across your video an watched it through.
I’ve been racing my ssr 125 in pit bike races for a full season and have had a blast. Main things I did was a big gun exhaust, nibbi carb, 75 weight oil in front shock, bbr rear shock, bbr foot peg mount and bbr pegs. Otherwise it’s an animal little bike. Takes a beating no issues. GET THE BBR PEG MOUNT. My first race the stock mount bent real bad.
I have one and it’s been a great bike. Had it for 2 years. The biggest thing you must look out for is the valves. Make sure to keep up on adjusting them. I currently need to adjust mine. Also you need to not touch the idle adjustment screw. I did it to mine and now it keeps lowering by itself. Carb is great as long as you don’t touch that.
Great video just bought a 22' for 14 yr old son. Very informative info on yhe SSR 140. We need the advise. Dealer never mentioned any advise you gave. Keep up the good work.
I would if I could. I sold it with 3.5 hours. There was nothing wrong, it was just a little too tall for my wife. I bought her a 2001 Honda XR100 and did a full build on here and made it street legal.
I am a proud owner of one of a 140 TR BW that I got from a dealer on Maui. I live on the island of Molokai, so getting the bike here was kind of a problem. The only option for shipping was by barge via Young Brothers. Maui to Oahu to Molokai, a cost of $289.00. The bike arrived in great shape despite a 4 week delay, and the fact that the trailer that the bike was being transported on was rear ended by another vehicle. The only problems I had with the bike itself, was #1: That the front wheel was not exactly round. I noticed this on my test ride down the street of my neighborhood. The ride seemed a little bumpy even though I was on a freshly paved road. Upon closer inspection (According to my eye), the wheel was about 3/8" out of round. I did not notice it much at speeds above 15 or 20 mph. #2: The levers were not adjustable for reach, I had the hardest time with shifting & braking because of that. #3: the bike was really loud. I addressed two of the problems right away by replacing the levers with break away, adjustable reach levers and a spark arrester muffler from Amazon. I'm still debating whether or not I should attempt dealing with the front wheel on my own or not. In the mean time, I am having a blast on that thing.
I'm glad you like it. It is a little loud especially compared to my XR. The wheels are pretty easy to true. Just search truing dirt bike wheels. You can do it right on the bike. It would be good to learn anyways because the spokes do loosen and ypu will want to make sure you tighten them properly so uts a skill you will keep using
make sure to always check your spokes!! look up truing your wheels! i just wrecked mine because my spoked were lose and one broke and went through the inner tube! wrecked it in the field going at least 50. had it pegged in 4th gear! went flying and landed on my back!
Ouch! Truing and torquing spokes is actually pretty easy if you take your time. I relaced a new wheel my first time and got it within ten thousands which is well within spec, then I balanced the wheel. It came out perfect. The manual actually says to adjust them when it's new due to break in
Excellent Review ! How is the SSR 140 performing as of today ?... After the break-in oil change(s) Period, how many riding hours is required before the the next oil change ?
Soooooooooo, It ended up being too big for my wife and it sat in our garage on a stand. I ended up selling it this summer with a whopping 3.5 hours on it lol.
you're one of those guys that treats his stuff good but you're messy wit it. lol I was like that when I first joined the army but then I learned to use oil towels and funnels. LMAO great video bud
bought 2 ssr 160 tr 2022 and both of them started taping after riding them for about 1 hour 30 minutes also broke a kicking gear. srr warrantying both brand new motors but I have been without 2 brand new bikes for 12 days now and still waiting for the motors to show up to the shop sometime this week. I will likely end up paying for the labor in the end.
There’s a clear reason SSR bikes are less expensive. Cheaper Components. They simply won’t hold up over time like a Honda. Remember old adage “you get what you pay for”.
@Evan Walker i think its all about perspective but for me, spending more doesn't necessarily equal more fun. My wife or grandson can crash and destroy this one just as easily as they can a KTM or Honda costing upwards of 3x more. If my plan was to keep it for 20 years i might think differently but for the 3-4 years we will own it, I'll put that money saved towards gear and riding trips 💰
I just bought two 110's for my kids, and took them out for the first time yesterday. One of them want to bog out when you open it up, unless the choke is on. Choke on, it flys around but revs high. Choke off, it barely goes anywhere. I tried adjusting the screw with the spring on the carb, but doesn't help. Any ideas?
@@MotoVated207 yes they are new, but now I believe that I had something wrong...I think I had the choke on when I thought it was off lol. I assumed "up" was off, and "down" was on, but I think I had it backwards? I think I adjusted the idle with the choke in the on position, and that's why it was revving high when I turned it off. Can you confirm if this position is correct? I can't find anything that tells me, the manual just says turn on and off, but not which position
Nice video my man. I just got a 2020 yesterday for a grand. Super low hours and youth ridden. By any chance have you found and graphic kits for them? Cheers from new mexico!
Its more likely 10-40w but now I know the brand thank you so much for your time and that fast reply really helped appreciate your content 👍 planning to make my ssr content also thanks for your advice.
Ive heard really good things about these motors. My wifes XR100 Honda puffs smoke when she lets off. I was told if it smokes when you let off its usually valves and if it smokes under power its rings.
@David Garcia i didn't have the proper spoke tool so I ended up just using a small metric wrench. I don't remember the actual size but a small adjustable wrench would work also.
I use full synthetic oil in my 22 year old 4runner it originally called for 10w 30 conventional my vehicle stays cooler and has done better with full synthetic oil it keeps engine cooler and lubes everything better and I used to do oil changed every 3000 miles I bumped it up to 8000 miles and there has been a 2 times in last 5 years I was so busy that I didn't get to changing the oil because I had to many service calls that the full synthetic oil was in my engine for 50 thousand miles and wow it was still clean and the engine had no issues so there is a lot more to synthetic oil then you think synthetic oil also helps the environment because it's not 100 percent petroleum like conventional oil is synthetic blend is both conventional petroleum oil and made oil were full synthetic had very little if any petroleum oil
@@MotoVated207 make sure what ever you put full synthetic in its gone through its complete break in with conventional oil if that's what it requires then move it to synthetic oil

I agree. They are awesome. I couldn't be happier. Plus when the dealer says they have one in a go cart and beat the tar out of it 24/7 and cant blow it up that says a lot.
