With this video, En Vogue showed me how talented they are. En Vogue's "Give Him Something He Can Feel" turns up the passion. Their video really brings the heat.
They all could sing, but Dawn Robinson’s vocals always really slayed. It’s unfortunate that the original members broke up, but they’ve occasionally reunited for a televised performance here and there
This was written by the late Great Curtis "I'm your Pusherman" Mayfield and beautifully sang by Aretha and Irene Cara from one of the greatest movies "Sparkle" the original!!! En Vogue did this song Justice too and Dawn definitely was the standout in this track!!
Love this song! The original is from the movie, Sparkle, that came out in 1976. En Vogue slayed this cover though. I don’t know if you noticed some celebs in the audience watching the funky divas- singers El DeBarge and Johnny Gill and actor Dorian Harewood.
Their voices blended so beautifully and their 4 part harmonies were perfection! Not to mention their weave and fashion game! I still haven’t gotten over their breakup. 😢😔
This cover of the Aretha Franklin SOUL CLASSIC ‼️ En Vogue does a🔥great job. Their vocals are on point as usual. The whole Sparkle soundtrack & movie 🔥🔥. They is a version in the movie performed by the cast( Irene Cara, Dwan Smith and Lonette McKee). All of the versions are 🔥, but the Aretha down home biscuits and gravy version is saying something else. The Legendary Curtis Mayfield produced and penned the soundtrack (as he did many in the 70s). One of the best soundtrack albums of all time.
As usual En Vogue slayed this song and video! Always loved this song and had never heard the original when this came out but could tell it had that old school soul feel so had suspected it was probably a cover. I remember this video being on heavy rotation on MTV back when the played videos. 😂 Great reaction Empress!
@@mofun5315 It's not Aretha's song. She didn't write or produce it. It's Curtis Mayfield's song. Aretha recorded the first "version" of it. So I don't understand your point.
@@mofun5315 So you both are making a big deal over semantics? Aretha's recording was the "first" version of the song, hence it is a "version." At the end of the day, you and the previous poster knew exactly what I meant. So you have no point at all.
En Vogue and MTV Funky Divas all day. Their music videos rotating nonstop on that channel. Never Gonna Get It, Free Your Mind, Give It Up Turn It Loose, Giving Him Something He Can Feel, Whatta Man…. En Vogue era 1992-1993!

The original artist of this song is Aretha Franklin tap in and listen to her version of the song it's from the original movie sparkle filmed in 1976 every song on that soundtrack was performed by Aretha Franklin
There are a couple of videos of Aretha singing this live and they r amazing! My favorite one is when she performed it for Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show
🔥🔥🔥 Dawn was my favorite En Vogue singer, but I believe that there was a rift and internal problem started after she signed a contract to do a solo project while still in the group!
that's not exactly true. Terry had recorded and released a solo album in 1995. All the girls had solo deals. The issue was that they wanted to cancel Dawn's work on a solo album to rush out a 3rd album after "Don't Let Go" blew up, and Terry's failed. Dawn balked and they fired her and then went on to spend the next 20 years tryna make everyone think she was the problem child.
You know I didn't come here for the song but just to say that Empress is Man! - just kidding. That always makes my wife mad when I tell her that. Empress is the coolest and just have to say HI and always like her reactions. I'm a big Van Halen fan! Do some more Van Halen Empress - try Mean Street!! I have to say I always liked En Vogue especially when they were on In Living Color with Jamie Fox acting as Wanda - it's hilarious!!! Empress you would love it!

Dawn's big coming out moment as a lead singer. Classic in every way.
Fun fact: those red dresses are in the African American Museum in DC
Nice!
Grateful for growing up at a time when this group was really doing their thing. They were so sensual, womanly and talented.
🔥🔥🔥

Their harmonies are unmatched. They are the best of the best.
This cover may be better than the original. Those harmonies are EVERYTHING! They are just killing it.
Dawn did her thang in this song! Then throw in Johnny Gill, El DeBarge, Dorian Harewood, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, perfection! 🥰
This cover is iconic...this was a huge hit for them..their album Funky Divas is legendary
I love this song. I loved their album! En Vogue 1990’s! stellar!!!! Especially… the 🔥”Free Your Mind”! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Awww yeah. This is definitely one of the sexiest videos of all time! I liked it because it was classy without being trashy, which was a nice change.
So smooth like red velvet cake.

Written by the great Curtis Mayfield, En Vogue did it 🔥 but Aretha seasoned it
When the guy took of his wedding ring and hid it in his pocket. 😂 En Vogue never disappoints. Love these ladies! Thanks for posting Empress!
✌🏻🙂✌🏻
Aretha Franklin also recorded a 1976 version for the film, "Sparkle."
Shor... nuff
When its your song, its not a version.

Aretha sang the hell out of it and En Vogue stepped right up to it. One of the rare occasions where the remake might even be slightly better.
oh wow1!
