I just had chills on my whole body at that exact part watching this reaction, and then i read your comment. This song really is amazing, it represents so much
One of my favorite parts of this song, is the chainsaw, attempting to start* up the entire time as part of the beat and then at the end when it actually does rev up…sick. One of my favorite Eminem tracks.
On stage back in the day Em would have a character in overalls and a jason's mask and a chainsaw. The way I see it the chainsaw in the song is Shady trying to come back and in the end... he wins. It goes with how both voices merges in the end.
That would be like a magician showing how he does his tricks. A lot of the great parts about Em's lyricism is about the different interpretations you can have.
Em is not talking to the devil he's talking to his addiction he was clean and his addiction is trying to get him to remember every bad thing he ever went through so he can use again

" i had you beat, no i was playin possum remember ? i let you watch your little girl blossom " ...early in the song ...he said " sometimes i play possum like im asleep" ....i just thought that was dope as hell how the "spirit" brought that up ....dope as hell

He said in an interview that rap is like puzzles to him... he finds ways to fit words in places they shouldn't fit. It's a type of genius that we mortals can't even fathom
What I love about this song is it's a quadruple entendre. The other voice is four things, it's Shady, The Devil, His Addiction, and Himself. In Deja Vu he talks about his drug use and he has a similar conversation with that deep voiced figure and it goes like this "Whats a beer? That's The Devil in my ear I've been sober a fuckin year and that fucker still talks to me he's all I can fuckin hear" "Marshall come on let's watch the game it's the Cowboys and Bucanners!" His addiction IS The Devil and vice versa, and in this song and a few of his others he says Slim Shady is just a persona that's a result of his drug use "But Dre all Shady is is a bottle of hair bleach and vodka", again, his addiction, which is also the devil, so Shady is also The Devil, and then when his voice merges with the deep voice in this song, it's an acknowledgement that this voice in his head, Shady, the Devil, it's all just him. He is his own worst enemy, and he's fighting that devil inside him for his freedom, and it's trying to take him back, the drugs are trying to take him back, and he's trying to fight it, but how do you win a fight against yourself? That's why he fights the mirror, because he's battling himself, with his own personal devil.

Check my comment I just posted if u wanna know the real meaning of the song it took me forever to figure out I used to be obsessed with figuring out what the song really means. One day it just clicked.
This was supposed to be the first song on Relapse instead of 3am. Honestly, I will never understand why he pulled it because it fits so perfectly into the story. The opening Dr West skit introduces the "devil" as a character in a dream and ends with his alarm going off. My Darling then opens with him yawning as if he had just woken up. Then, after giving in to the "devil" character, Marshall turns into Slim and goes on his rampage in 3am. That sets the tone for the remainder of the album. Personally, I like to view the "devil" character as a representation of his internal struggle with drug addiction. And him giving into that devil is basically him having his "Relapse" which results in the events of this album unfolding.
The entire song Em was trying to start the chainsaw. the entire time it didn't start until the end when he merged back with Slim Shady. Thats when the chainsaw starts, which represents destructive nature of what Slim Shady brings into his life and his music. The albums after Relapse you can tell Slim Shady was coming back slowly. It wasn't until Music To Be Murdered By when Em literally dug up Slim Shady to get back into form. That whole album was some really dark Slim Shady Esqe type of joint.
One of my fav Em tracks ever. He's not obsessed with himself, its about "shady", who made him famous, SHADY is who he sees in the mirror, but aside from the fame shady also lead to addiction,, the loss of his family, all kinds of problems. Shady is temting him to come back and regain "his shady level" of status and fame. ALSO the "123, 123, 123" part happens exactly at 1:23 in the song. CRAZY
All those things in the background is what's going on in his head literally insane in this song I'm so glad you did this song I wish you reacted a little more I know people don't like that but this is why it's called a reaction Channel I really wish cuz I know that you can break this down a lot better but it's also good to listen and be captivated by Eminem cuz he can do that one second absolutely started all these trends and people do it now if they did the same
I love how he uses cryptologic when he writes. You can tell that he studies all forms of writing by using cryptography in his songs. Cryptography for those who aren't aware of what it means, it's message coding. So, with his knowledge of lyricism, it's just one of many reasons why he's thought to be one of the greatest if not THE greatest lyricist ever.
The thing that I’m sure was the toughest thing imaginable was to not relapse on the same drugs he was using during the first 3 albums. When everyone is telling you that you aren’t what you were. Would have been so easy to slip back into the cycle. And it must have been so tempting.
Once again, u did another great reaction to EM. Outside of u and Knox Hill, there r none better when it comes to breaking down the essence of what EM is, the GGG.O.A.T. I've always said EM lives, breathes and would probably die for hip hop and it's really sad that so many people hate on him for it because of the obvious. The guy literally studied hip hop and read the dictionary to get where he's at, he worked his ass off. As they say it takes I think 1000 hrs to get good at something, he's put it 166,264,800 hrs since he's been born, so what has that made him?
Y’all got a special duo going on here!I cant recall if yall reacted to “Careful what you wish for” but you should definitely react to that one, that one and “My Darling” are bonus tracks for Relapse.
Definitely one of my favorite reaction video y'all have done. Also to one of my favorite Eminem songs. Y'all did this perfectly. From my understanding, this song was made about his drug addiction which is "the devil" Slim shady is a product of his drug addiction. Also, I REALLY want y'all to react to "legacy" by Eminem. He rhymes the whole song off of the last word in his opening bar. Check it out. I can't wait to see it. 👌👌👌👌
ALSO TO ADD, I tried looking through your "playlists" on this channel. I saw your Eminem reactions playlist only had like 7 songs in it, even though I've watched more than 7 of your Eminem reaction videos lol. I'd also love to hear where you placed that "drunk drivers" song. I know you're a rapper but the channel has so many videos that it's kind of cluttered. I haven't found one of your songs, not sure what to look up, but please inform me of where I can find it. Keep going y'all, you're one of my favorite react channels, definitely top 3.
@@FlawdTV dope! I'm gonna check it out and respond and comment under each song I listen to! For sure tho, please check out "legacy" by Eminem. Man, you're sleeping on that song. Got any of your songs you recommend I listen to, by you?
The devil/demonic possession of Em’s soul because he sold it to become famous makes the most sense as an interpretation thanks to the ‘praying to God’ line.
So this songs confuses a lot of people and i will explain this song is the song of Old slim shady vesus the new slim shady as eminem had to rebrand slim shady as he coudnt do the old character of slim shady because as Em said "But dre all shady is is a bottle of hair bleach and vodka" and he is right. Slim shady was just the character Em made when he was high and drunk off his ass. but after his OD in 08 he couldnt be on Alchohol or drugs so he had to rebrand him and this was Em's way of doing it.
Didn't realise this was only just uploaded!! Whoop. Had a scroll earlier today not sure if you guys have done - "All I think about" Em and Royce on Southpaw Soundtrack. Oh and nice vids BTW. Enjoying the colab from you both. Peace.
"That's the devil in my ear, I've been sober a fuckin' year And that fucker still talks to me, he's all I can fuckin' hear" - deja vu. Eminem is refering to his addiction as the Devil. And how its contsantly creeping out on him. And at the end of the song, he loses. So the chainsaw revvs up and he begins to kill again.
Ive Been watching you guys for a while an had my fingers crossed that you would one day review "My Darling". Its one of the Hardest songs Em has and very slept on.
I got 1000 things I wanna say about the numbers, the beat,, the scheme, the chainsaw, the duality part of it, but id just start babbling, but when you guys cut it and she said " it's like dancing" I thought " dude quit taking my thoughts" I can't count any sort of layered or algorithmic beat from it, and I'm a drummer, I can play in weird signatures, an overall 5/4 while playing triplets, switching to maybe a 4/4 every other, it gets to the point I can't do the math in my head quick enough to count numbers as I play , so I sing it to myself with little scat syllables, most people do I think, like a bop itty bip pow bip pow thing, but i was walking down the sidewalk as you guys were on and realized his rhymes was affecting how I walked, almost making me walk and dance, i couldn't count what he or i was doing but felt it, then i was counting the joints in my body trying to figure it out. I dunno, Em clearly stays way out front in thinking, I doubt you could sit listen over and over and ever catch up with all the parts he uses to make a song different, it makes me wonder sometimes if he's really so intelligent that he incorporates things into his songs that I can associate to the oddest things, such as how many stones are in the great pyramids, turning algorithmic number patterns into binary numbers, charting them , stacking the charts, and then writing out the binary number in the newly created vertical columns, reversing those back and making new charts, and at the end converting all the binaries into words and phrases, patterns, or if he just does some cool stuff and the rest I attach to it because I'm a flake, or then, maybe he meant that, figures were all a little flakey, who knows,? I know, i sound like a nut, but, whether i am or not , some of my favorite musicians, ones that can control my laughter or tears never made me dig into so much of my own strange thoughts, and to think he does it with a style that many greats did and do still say isnt real music ( rap, electronic, tech music i mean ) what im getting at i guess is when you say " This is MUSIC." I get that 1000% just judging from the mess I just typed, imagine how hard it'd be to shut me up and make sense of my mess of thoughts if we were in the same room and heard this for the first time . These are the things my dad used to tell me to quit talking about because it made people leery of me, they thought I was either a blathering idiot or an evil genius. I think they're wrong either way. I've just always been the guy that asked why? Until my mom or teacher or boss was so sick of me they just said here take some money and go away before I do something ! Lol
Many people are saying it's drug addiction which isn't the case. The theme is when he was poor he begged God for help but it actually did a deal with Devil that created Shady in him. He got fame and money but also drug addiction which is the price you pay. But now he is Marshall and have nothing to do with Shady but Devil is back who wants to Eliminate Marshall and create Shady permanently.
Been asking for this, didn’t disappoint 👏🏻 “Isn’t that us on that poster” is talking about the relapse pic in your thumbnail which is Eminem made of 💊💊💊 The demon part of him is also his addiction amongst other things 🔥
Every rapper out now the Cadence that they have came from Eminem at some point and sometime I'm trying to tell you when this man came in he was unbelievable I'm trying to think of the song where the triple flow he came in with he started that flow you guys know that song when he's angry I forget it I can't think about it right now but you guys know it Eminem I think has done every Cadence and can mimic anybody else's cadences he's always been ahead of his time and people don't put respect on that because he's white
I've always felt the voice was a representation of Slim, his addiction, and the Devi,l all in one. Especially with the extreme attention to detail on this song/album.
Em deserves to be the best, he works and thinks harder than anyone to be recognized even if it means eating a dictionary. At that time as a white rapper from the trailer park, the pressure is too much but gladly there's proof who still believes in him no matter what. His story was too perfect to be true, but hate always came to him so he had to stay humble. Crazy!
This is one of my favourite songs from Em. Also, I don't know, if only I recognized it, but he literally referenced final FIGHT CLUB scene, that gives new background to whole song. 🤔 Like with Tyler Durden was in FIGHT CLUB suppousedly 'killed' for many by Narrator... Em literally said "You CAN'T kill Your spirit, even if You try to.". Overlooked in FIGHT CLUB, in all Schizophrenia Narrator suffers, 'Tyler' plan worked by end. HE is Tyler. Same in My Darling, while in one song he KILLS 'SHADY' part of him, he, demon inside him, survives. 🤷🏻♀️ Love such little things, like him referencing movies, making sounds of chainsaw peaking up till words confirms, he is back on same track, as Devil within Him. 🤷🏻♀️ He is same devil, that caused his doom. And in this song he faces and accepts it. ✌️
I think it's a dual concept. Shady is like his demonic personality in this song. Shady's like his dark side, his side that's devilish and dark and destructive and does drugs and shit. So it's like Em vs Demon Possessed Shady. I think that was the original concept is that the Shady persona came from some demonic force. On the EP where he intros the Slim Shady persona it's the sound of a mirror breaking. So the mirror talking to him may be another call back. Lyrics from Genius from the intro of Slim Shady EP ""Eminem" "No" "Eminem!" "No" "Hahaha, wake the fuck up, motherfucker" "What do you want from me?" "Hahahaha, remember me?" "I killed you!" "You thought I was dead, didn't you?" "What do you want from me?!" "Ha, I'm alive" "Oh, God" "Haha, get up" "No" "Get up and look in the mirror" "I don't want to!" "Look in the mirror, it's just a reflection" "Leave me alone!" "Haha, look in the mirror!" "Leave me alone!" You're nothing! You're nothing without me! "Leave me alone!" Look in the motherfucking mirror! Hahaha" "Leave me the fuck alone!" [Eminem punches the mirror, breaking it.]
The Devil is his addiction trying to coax him into using again. Bringing up his mothers abuse, "Dr Dre" doubting him, etc. In the 3rd verse Em is slowly cracking under addiction and when the chainsaw starts up he relapses. Fire song!
No he was not addicted when his mother abused him. The theme is he sold his soul to devil to get rich and fame who created Shady but now Marshall is done with Shady but Devil wants Shady back permanently.
This is actually a continuation of his alter ego slim shady who he introduced to the world back in 1998 on his EP, the one that grabbed Dre's attention. Same devil voice and conversation but the original was short introduction, this feels like he took his initial teaser track and turned it into fully developed piece of art. If you've never heard his Slim Shady EP, do yourself a favor and track it down. I actually like it better than his debut album even though there's a lot of overlap
Yo go read my comment I posted its not slim shady. It's his album coming full circle from skit to 3 am to so on and on until the climax of my darling which is the demon from the skit catching back upto him towards the end of his album.
@@Light_a_life69 Hmm, my take has always been Demon + Eminem = Slim Shady, from the Demon telling him to look in the mirror etc. My Darling just did a better job at telling the whole story and actually hearing them merge together.
@@howlando6989 yes but he literally references the poster look up the poster for that album it's a bunch of prescription drug pills making up his face which he almost OD'd on in the first place. Than the Demonic voice is a reference in place as a personification of the sayin'(Battling ones own demons) if he wasn't trying to tell you who the Demonic voice was why would he say reference the poster saying isn't that us on that poster. It's not him holding hair bleach and vodka nor is it him with bleach hair which he himself said himself that makes shady, shady. So your only left with one conclusion the drugs and the metaphor that those are his demons he battles on a daily. Not him becoming slim shady again.
@@Light_a_life69 Yes he added double entendre meaning here where demon is metaphor for his drug demons. I mostly just wanted to make the point that the voice and concept was actually invented 10 years earlier which a lot of people probably didn't know including Flawd/Meaux, and that EP is awesome. Regardless the demon being the part of him that turns him into shady I think is pretty clear, he even re-iterated that point in Fall.
The “demon” is slim shady. If you look at the beginning of the slim shady ep. He screams “I thought I killed you!, I’m back, thought I was dead muahahaha”. And this song it says you can’t kill a spirit. So, my prediction is that in the death of slim shady, shady can’t die cuz he’s a spirit.
this song reminds me of old days when in deep depression "Beloved Melancholy". It is kind of like having Stockholm Syndrome but with the dark side of your Self
Em is not talking to the devil he's talking to his addiction he was clean and his addiction is trying to get him to remember every bad thing he ever went through so he can use again
This is my favorite Relapse song... this and "Underground"... the demon is taking over.... There is a skit at the beginning of the Relapse album that is a perfect intro to this song.
This song is actually about Drugs. look at the poster (cover art) of of Relapse, it's Eminem made of drug pills Remember, the voice says, "look a little closer, isn't that us in that poster?" But Eminem made it like a double of him selling his soul to the devil, & painting imagery of illuminati... the devil here is drugs If u think about it in that perspective, the entire aong makes perfect sense Remember, the album title & concept is RELAPSE At the end of the song, Eminem & the voice fuse together, showing that Eminem has finally succumbed to the pressure/temptation, i.e. Eminem relapsed back to being a drug addict
And also my darling is the rap game he always refers to the rap game as a girl that's why he says it possesses his mind his heart and soul and his body
this one of those ..... the first time the chorus comes in its dark as fuck , but the second time it comes in it has a WHOLE nother fucking meaning .......its hits SO much harder the second time it comes in
I get chills everytime this song gets to the point where Em/The Demon are layering vocals as they merge into one. This song is goated

It wasn't until Music To Be Murdered By when Em literally dug up Slim Shady to get back into form. That whole album was some really dark Slim Shady Esqe type of joint.
Love when you guys react to eminem's lyrics... i always do it by myself, but miss some information... Thank you guys for this =]
You can listen to this song 10x in a row and it always gives me chills
One of my fav Em tracks ever. He's not obsessed with himself, its about "shady", who made him famous, SHADY is who he sees in the mirror, but aside from the fame shady also lead to addiction,, the loss of his family, all kinds of problems. Shady is temting him to come back and regain "his shady level" of status and fame. ALSO the "123, 123, 123" part happens exactly at 1:23 in the song. CRAZY
wow
All those things in the background is what's going on in his head literally insane in this song I'm so glad you did this song I wish you reacted a little more I know people don't like that but this is why it's called a reaction Channel I really wish cuz I know that you can break this down a lot better but it's also good to listen and be captivated by Eminem cuz he can do that one second absolutely started all these trends and people do it now if they did the same
Was so confused thought they posted this twice then realize its one of the rare times I caught the live stream reaction lol.
Great reaction I love how y’all break down the bars I love what you’re doing and keep doing what you’re doing. Be safe. God bless one big love.
Bro we think alike.
I call this art all the time.
So creative.
Eminem is something else
I have chills watching this he is the goat please do all of this album relapse 💯🙏🙏🙏🙏 love you guys 👏
The hook also is 666 he sings it three times and he does it three times in the song
i was also noticing that, master piece
Definitely one of my favorite reaction video y'all have done.
Also to one of my favorite Eminem songs.
Y'all did this perfectly.
From my understanding, this song was made about his drug addiction which is "the devil"
Slim shady is a product of his drug addiction.
This song isn’t about drugs my guy…it’s about an artist selling his soul for fame and fortune and fighting it 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
I'll fix the EMinem playlist within the next couple of days. But, my music is under the name Flawdzilla
@@FlawdTV react to brainless from Em plz.
@@FlawdTV dope! I'm gonna check it out and respond and comment under each song I listen to! For sure tho, please check out "legacy" by Eminem. Man, you're sleeping on that song. Got any of your songs you recommend I listen to, by you?
Eminem- careful what you wish for 🔥🔥🔥 you guys should definitely check it out
This might be his best hook
"isn't that us on that poster"
The voice is definitely Slim Shady.
One of ems most unique hooks , so haunting yet so beautiful 🔥
You could say Eminem is the Bruce lee of rap. Like kung fu it’s his martial (Marshall) art
😂
The devil/demonic possession of Em’s soul because he sold it to become famous makes the most sense as an interpretation thanks to the ‘praying to God’ line.
It reminds me of what Rhianna said about Em that he's got sooo much in his head that it's good he's got music as an outlet
Relapse is fire....this song is another genius track/concept. This kind of shit is what makes Em the best.
Finally. Asked a few times for this haha. Very creative track
Go Look at my comment I posted recently it might change ur mind.
It’s about making a pact with the devil for money and fame. Katy Perry mentioned that she did it and lady gaga ‘swears to lucifer’ - they’re all at it
At 1:23 on this track, he says 123 123 123 (666).
Love all the EMINEM love here recently, always be the goat.
So glad Relapse is getting some respect!!
The layering of the vocals goes even crazier in the new album's Guilty conscience 2
Didn't realise this was only just uploaded!! Whoop. Had a scroll earlier today not sure if you guys have done - "All I think about" Em and Royce on Southpaw Soundtrack. Oh and nice vids BTW. Enjoying the colab from you both. Peace.
The demon is also the rap game calling him back
Absolute classic. Em is the Goat. So many layers to his rapping. Genius
"That's the devil in my ear, I've been sober a fuckin' year
And that fucker still talks to me, he's all I can fuckin' hear" - deja vu.
Eminem is refering to his addiction as the Devil. And how its contsantly creeping out on him.
And at the end of the song, he loses. So the chainsaw revvs up and he begins to kill again.
The song has multiple meaning bruh not just the addiction one
@@impackmusiq5236the album I'd called relapse pretty sure addiction and shady is the point
Been asking for this, didn’t disappoint 👏🏻
“Isn’t that us on that poster” is talking about the relapse pic in your thumbnail which is Eminem made of 💊💊💊
The demon part of him is also his addiction amongst other things 🔥
Every rapper out now the Cadence that they have came from Eminem at some point and sometime I'm trying to tell you when this man came in he was unbelievable I'm trying to think of the song where the triple flow he came in with he started that flow you guys know that song when he's angry I forget it I can't think about it right now but you guys know it Eminem I think has done every Cadence and can mimic anybody else's cadences he's always been ahead of his time and people don't put respect on that because he's white
"Science" is the analysis, understanding, and explanation of our reality..... "Math" is the language of science.
Like with Tyler Durden was in FIGHT CLUB suppousedly 'killed' for many by Narrator...
Love such little things, like him referencing movies, making sounds of chainsaw peaking up till words confirms, he is back on same track, as Devil within Him. 🤷🏻♀️
He is same devil, that caused his doom. And in this song he faces and accepts it. ✌️
Joe Budden - “Pray for me” was another that was a back and forth dialogue that was fire
This is what I love about these guys, no fucking around ... 30 seconds in and you're into the song. Some others take a good 10 mins
It’s speculated Marshall is on the spectrum, so its not a surprise he’s so good at the Game.
“You ruin everything.
Okay fuck you, you asked me.” lmao you guys hilarious
Literally at the 16th second she swears. Dodged it by a second. Literally. Thats Wild
Man, I can't wait until ya'll do Castle and Arose back to back. Probably will be one of the best reactions ever!!
Lyrics from Genius from the intro of Slim Shady EP
""Eminem"
"No"
"Eminem!"
"No"
"Hahaha, wake the fuck up, motherfucker"
"What do you want from me?"
"Hahahaha, remember me?"
"I killed you!"
"You thought I was dead, didn't you?"
"What do you want from me?!"
"Ha, I'm alive"
"Oh, God"
"Haha, get up"
"No"
"Get up and look in the mirror"
"I don't want to!"
"Look in the mirror, it's just a reflection"
"Leave me alone!"
"Haha, look in the mirror!"
"Leave me alone!"
You're nothing! You're nothing without me!
"Leave me alone!"
Look in the motherfucking mirror! Hahaha"
"Leave me the fuck alone!"
[Eminem punches the mirror, breaking it.]
The theme is he sold his soul to devil to get rich and fame who created Shady but now Marshall is done with Shady but Devil wants Shady back permanently.
new to the channel. you 2 are dope. appreciate what you're doing and im a stan and love when channels break down Eminem. cheers from toronto
@@Light_a_life69exactly. "Isn't that us on that poster?" Definitely Slim Shady right there
@@Light_a_life69 Yes he added double entendre meaning here where demon is metaphor for his drug demons.
DAMN!!! He ain't just rap rhyming shit... There is math involved!!!
That chainsaw sound at the end just means Shady won... If u know u know
The “demon” is slim shady. If you look at the beginning of the slim shady ep. He screams “I thought I killed you!, I’m back, thought I was dead muahahaha”. And this song it says you can’t kill a spirit. So, my prediction is that in the death of slim shady, shady can’t die cuz he’s a spirit.
I’m not sure if you guys listen to it or react it already, but you should definitely check out underground in the relapse album. It’s amazing.
We have done “Underground” already

True
This song is about his addictiin. In Relapse it was the second track at the beginin after Dr West skit. But they change it to 3am.
Em produced this, one of my favourites
this song reminds me of old days when in deep depression "Beloved Melancholy".
On my security shift seen this drop omg so excited
Prolly my favorite Em song 🔥
This song is actually about Drugs.
look at the poster (cover art) of of Relapse, it's Eminem made of drug pills
Remember, the voice says, "look a little closer, isn't that us in that poster?"
But Eminem made it like a double of him selling his soul to the devil, & painting imagery of illuminati... the devil here is drugs
If u think about it in that perspective, the entire aong makes perfect sense
Remember, the album title & concept is RELAPSE
At the end of the song, Eminem & the voice fuse together, showing that Eminem has finally succumbed to the pressure/temptation, i.e. Eminem relapsed back to being a drug addict
And also my darling is the rap game he always refers to the rap game as a girl that's why he says it possesses his mind his heart and soul and his body
this one of those ..... the first time the chorus comes in its dark as fuck , but the second time it comes in it has a WHOLE nother fucking meaning .......its hits SO much harder the second time it comes in
One of my favorite songs from this album
em is not a human he's an alien...😄🔥🔥🔥
