I was pretty excited to meet and talk with Ben Burnley. I, of course, had heard Breaking Benjamin all over the radio about then...but hadn't heard anyone talk about his lyrics. The stuff he was moving from his insides to our collective insides. I think you'll like what Ben has to say. He's reminded me of me at times. Frustrated, but mostly curious how we make it in this life. Through ups and through downs. This was recorded on the tour bus prior to the Breaking Benjamin show in Ft. Wayne, IN on January 20, 2010. -Frank
There is a difference between religion and walking with Jesus. It is up to each of us to find him. Each relationship with God is unique. Learn from God not from man, man will fail you.
+l3uttonlVlasher That's why we have the Bible
but jesus was a man. The reason baptism exists is to try to follow a perfect man. We cant tho, no matter how hard we try, but we do become better people in the process
Kawaii Gaming jesus found us. Not vice versa. Its about waking up to the love of god through Christ. Not trying to create the love by our own dead works and religious strivings. Praise jesus. He loves us all as we are all his children. Just a matter of waking upto the fact of the Gospel(good news)
The whole Charles Dickens' idea... Or the Tom Araya blind Faith thing...
I believe in Jesus. Nihilism is simply fading out to despair and hopelesness
Well said🙏🏽
I am an atheist and I fucking LOVE this band!
I've always had a feeling Breaking Benjamin had a Christian rock vibe to it,
but they make it sound good by not over-doing it like most
Christian rock groups do. I listen to Breaking Benjamin all the time on
Spotify and my favorites include _Angel's Fall, Ashes of Eden, Anthem of the Angels, and Give me a Sign._
_Ashes of Eden_ actually made me cry one time.
That song makes me tear up all the time
Good christian rock bands that don't overdo it exist theyre just hard to find 🙏🙏
Keep believing in him ben. God rewards those who believe in him and follow his path :)
As someone who is a devout Christian, idk that Ben is completely spot on from a theological perspective, but he definitely seems like someone who has some relationship with God. I hope and pray it is a true one. But I do agree that there are a ton of very awful representations of God in Churches today. I go to Church regularly, but nowhere in the Bible does Jesus tell his disciples to go to church, and follow these certain rules so you can get to Heaven. He tells them to BE the Church. You get saved by putting your faith in what Jesus did for us on the cross, not by doing a whole lot of religious rules and rituals. That’s why Jesus and the Pharisees butted heads so much, because Jesus was teaching that all you had to do was put your faith and trust in Him, and they wanted you to do a whole laundry list of rules and expectations. Jesus came to fulfill the law. We no longer have to follow it perfectly to be able to go to Heaven. We simply confess that we are a sinner, and put our faith and hope in Jesus, and ask Him to come into our heart and forgive us of our sins. When we do that, then yes we still need to follow His commands, and do His will for our lives. But we are no longer following it out of some ritualistic duty, we are then following His commands out of our love for Him, and our thankfulness for Him saving us from our sins. Once we are saved we are no longer enslaved to the sins of the world, but are set free in Christ. Once we are saved nothing can take that away, no sin, or sickness, or authority, or anything can take our salvation. Because the miracle of the cross is that when Jesus gave His life, He died for all of our sins. And when He saves us, He forgives us for all our sins. All the sins we have committed up to the point of our salvation, plus all the sins we will commit after our salvation. That’s how He truly was the final sacrifice, His blood atones all sin, for all time. All we have to do is accept and believe that, and let Him come into our heart, and forgive us. Then He will start to change us from there. That’s the power of the Gospel. God doesn’t ask us to climb up to His level, He came down to our level to sanctify us. He meets us where we are.
I can relate with Ben on this level. I do believe that Jesus does exist and how he loves us and is taking care of my recently deceased grandfather (rest in peace pop).
Historically speaking, there is absolutely zero debate as to whether or not a Nazarene known as Jesus Christ exists. We have many historical documents, other than just the Bible, talking about a Miracle worker, or whatever each described him as, named Jesus. But the discussion starts with Jesus’ death. That’s where the issue of was he God’s son or not comes in. It isn’t even in how he died either, it’s about did he rise three days later? Now there are plenty of eyewitness accounts of people claiming that they saw him before he ascended. Or at least someone who looked startlingly like him. I personally have a theory that Jesus must have looked different, at least a little bit, after he rose, because his disciples were walking with him down the road long enough to strike up a conversation, but never realized it was him. I’m sorry, but you don’t hang out with someone for three years, and then not recognize them all of a sudden. So we can either believe what the Bible says is true, or we can believe what many in the world believe, which is that the disciples stole the body. That theory is absolutely ludicrous if you think about it for two seconds. You’re saying that a group of rag tag vagabond fishermen, somehow managed to overcome the Roman guards who were guarding his tomb, who also happened to be some of the best trained military personnel in the world at that point, then after ten guys at most, because Judas had killed himself, and Peter had fled out of shame after denying Jesus, successfully do overthrow a troop of military soldiers. They then roll back the stone (which would not have been a small accomplishment I’m sure) get Jesus’ body, and somehow dispose of it in a way that cleaned up enough for no remains of it to ever resurface, and in effect, pull off the single greatest heist in the history of the world. We know Jesus existed, we absolutely know he lived on this Earth somewhere in the vicinity of 2000 years ago. We know he performed many acts that simply cannot be explained by science or reasoning, we know he was convicted and crucified by the Roman government via the Jewish leaders, for claiming to be the Messiah. So when we know all of that, is it too far of a stretch to think that maybe, just maybe, what the Bible tells us is actually what happened?
Benjamin.. They bicker because they don't study. Keep searching. May God continue to bless you and your success. He's waiting. If you were His disciple, would you be perfect? So someone would look at you and categorize your faith because you're imperfect.. Pick up the Bible and start from the beginning.. "In beginning God created..." If that's true, then you need to figure out what else He did for YOU, like sending His own Son to die for your sins. And figure out what your response-ability is, or if you have any at all. If it's not, then you have nothing to worry about. You've been through serious health problems and decided to put your own self in the face of death. If you were on your deathbed, would the popularity and money that your career has given you mean anything? If it does, carry on... If not, take a moment to figure out what it is that really does matter. I say this because I hear you, not just in this interview but elsewhere even in your lyrics, crying out for God. He's there. He loves you. And He wants you to seek Him out. If you really study the Bible, you'll find out He's not like what you may think He is - as He is portrayed by media, the Catholics, or some nutty born again goofball who passes himself off as better than you because they found their way.. He's real. I hope you find Him someday before it's everlastingly too late.
I have fell in love with your music since I heard you years ago at x-fest in PA (I live in Southeast Ohio), no one, not even my first favorite band (Nirvana) holds a candle to you and your music. Your music is my favorite, hands down. I understand that you're on tour again, I'm happy to hear that. I hope that also means that a new album or at the very least, a new single is in the works. I am a Christian. Christ rules my household. I hope that I can listen to whatever it is you come out with, with my children - most of what you currently have out now I can do that and I appreciate it. I have found on UA-cam a couple horrible mobile recordings of you singing "Time After Time" (I have always loved this song) and I would love to be able to purchase an actual mp3 recording of it!
Anyway.. I know this is not "to" you and is a comment on someone else's channel, but I hope somehow it finds it's way to you. I hope you find your way.
God bless,
Andy
unfortunately this isn't burnleys cite so he cant see your post
Just getting to this now, but I think a major part of the issue is the differences between each iteration of the texts.
I've Always wondered Why Ben uses a lot of things related to God in his songs ... Evil angel , ashes of eden , Angels fall , Close to heaven , far away , athem of the angels , dance with the devil .
Yeah it’s a similar way of thinking and writing music like Scott Stapp by Creed. Obviously they are more a religious band than Breaking Ben but they use many references and metaphors about religion in general.
There is a right way to have religion and a wrong way. The wrong way exploits people, hurts them, preys on their vulnerabilities and weaknesses and ignores their sorrows. Murdering people who don't worship like you do or who have a different system is just evil.
God wants to see that we can have compassion, mercy, forgiveness and kindness to each other because that is what true love is, and the example he gave us is Jesus Christ who died for everyone's sins and showing that ultimate love. Everyone hurts inside, and we all have pains and sorrows and we all have fears, but Jesus promised if we follow him, then even if we die, he will bring us back. We have someone to hope in and hope is what we need.
Tell that to the Hebrew Bible.
ILYBFAA❤
I will pray that Benjamin Burnley finds Jesus and is saved.
Caroline Anton that’s not how any of this works.
iEthxn nah.
As someone gently reminded me recently: I will pray for you; Christ is with us.
🙏🏻🤘🏻❤️
I love breaking Benjamin and god
Proof that rock and metal is not of the devil even more (say what you want atheists)
if you ask me about God, i won't skirt around the issue. this doesnt mean anything. read james 2:19
it's about knowing Jesus. believing in God won't get you anywhere. Jesus is the only way to eternal life!
How do you begin to believe when you don’t at all
@@BeefHatley I came from an athiest background. Being a believer in Jesus and the Bible is not simply an intellectual or a feeling kind of thing. It is that God reveals himself to us when we seek him and are ready for change. I would just cry out to Jesus in prayer (which is talking to him) and ask him to reveal himself. He will do so, if you are seeking him with your whole heart. If you ask him for forgiveness and to come into your life and are willing to admit you don't have it all together and need saving, he will do so. You can start by reading the gospel of John in the New Testamant of the Bible. I will also put some youtube links to follow for more about following Jesus. Hope it helps! God got a hold of my life and it totally blew me away. To know I am forgiven, and have eternal life is priceless. ua-cam.com/video/bz1CkfNa-c4/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/HezFxbIPfPo/v-deo.html Hope they help!
What do you need too know Ben?
So I would say, as a Christian myself, Ben is getting there. I disagree with "everybody sees God in their own way" and I generally hold to the idea of one absolutely true religion. However, I would agree that there have been SOME pretty awful misrepresentations of Christ. Also RED is my favorite band so props to that mention!!
I will pray that Benjamin Burnley finds Jesus and is saved. God bless you Burnley.
If Ben hasn't found Christ yet, I'll eat my hat
Ben is right their is a god! It's been a year and 4 months since I was thrown 150 feet off of a motorcycle and across the car that hit the bike. I had brain surgery was in a coma and on life support a burial plot had to be bought for me by my family. I'm very thankful to God .
He kinda sounds like Marilyn Manson in this interview
nice
isn't it man, wow. I feel it hard when you put it like that.
Even from this video it's clearly stated that God exists... Everyone can belive in their "own God", but there is only one God and the only way to truly know God and enter into Heaven is through believing that Jesus was the son of God, repenting of your sins, and accepting him to be your Lord and Savior; being reborn again by the Holy Spirit. This is Salvation in Jesus Christ. Anyone can claim, such as Ben that everyone believes in a God, but to put your trust and Life through Jesus Christ is a different story. Let no one be deceived that you will simply go to Heaven through believing in God... Those without Jesus are still under the law from their sins, but those through Jesus have been redeemed from his sacrifice on the Cross. That is why you can only be saved and redeemed through Jesus, because He WAS the sacrifice that took all of Mans sins away.
He is clearly not into this.
Man created religion but there's only one Christ. Religion doesn't save, Jesus does. Walk with Jesus and hear him, screw religion. Scrutinize everything anyone has to say. Even the Bible says to scrutinize scripture to confirm that it is true. If what they say doesn't match the Bible then just move on. If you still have questions then go the one that inspired the Bible, God himself. God rejoices when you remember him and talk to him.
I saw somewhere that Ben was Greek Orthodox, is this true or is he just a deist?
Hope he is lol, because the Orthodox are awesome and I say that even though I'm a Latin-rite Catholic.
I listened to all of the interview segments and I have to say that I completely agreed with everything Ben said up until this part which I disagree with the whole thing. Its kind of funny.
Dude that's the exact same thing with me!!! Like just about every single segment was on point and this last segment is just like....no
I choose to believe there's a God who's loving. To believe in complete nothingness is stupid and pointless.
"My business is to teach my aspirations to conform themselves to fact, not to try and make facts harmonise with my aspirations."
+Elrog3 who are you quoting? lol
moehatespoo2 Thomas Huxley
I agree with everything Ben said but that other guy should learn to shut up more
Rhino nice self control dude congratz

Personally I wouldn't say god has done anything, if I was ben I would say "God may be looking out for me, but I worked for this and with my own hands I built my success"
Chillin Gate he was given the gift. So the way you make it sound is that if one guy works as hard as the other guy they’ll definitely be the same. If that was true, then there would be no greatest lists for people.
While this video predates the song I'm about to mention.....Ashes of Eden. Enough said
So is breaking Benjamin a Christian band or nah some one tell me
Maybe not exactly Christian (Jesus and everything) but definitely religious at least
@Howling Angel17 Breaking Benjamin is neither Christian, nor is it Religious.
@@chandlersleziak6416 their lyrics definitely have some religious hints especially songs off of dark before dawn
Anyone with an education in Logic... I challenge you to find and name all of the fallacies in this conversation. Site your examples too, please. Cheers! ;)
Jeff Boerst the other guy doesn't let Ben talk lol. Logic is believing in God foolishness is not believing in God or having faith for faith is the substance of all things hoped for
That's the problem with religion unlike Christianity it's divided
@BatmanWho Laughs Christianity is a Religion too. You do realize this, right?
@@chandlersleziak6416 you do realize it actually isn't
@@EVANGELISTDanielTorres It Absolutely is a Religion. To pretend that it isn't a Religion is Absolutely ridiculous.
@@chandlersleziak6416 funny how blind you are religious one. Jesus spoke out against religion and the word Christian is nothing more than a title that was given. So like I said according to facts and truth its not part of that disgusting religion garbage with all their gross denominations
Get wisdom....(BIBLE) grace through Faith in JESUS CHRIST. That's the one.....ONE and only way to be right with GOD meaning GOD of the BIBLE FATHER+SON+HOLY SPIRIT= GOD. lean not on your own understanding.
there's no god. ( they're looking after ben? but ignoring the starving kids??? ) c'mon... grow up ben
+morgan.monroe.vol4life which one? Yahweh?
