Recently I ordered M6 (512GB SSD & 32GM RAM), I also totally agree with this review in terms of price-to-performance king. Not only its reasoanble price, but also M6 provides ultimate performance as advertised (heat control, ventilation noise, gaming performance, bluetooth & wifi stability etc)
Yes, I bought one for myself and after using it for awhile recommended it to a friend who needed a new home office PC. Love the Windows local account set up!! But didn't really like all the pre-installed Office international versions it came with. Took me awhile to uninstall those. Other than that it's a fantastic PC!
This is a great bang for the buck. I was looking at two mini pcs with the 7840HS CPU. The GMKtec Nucbox K6 and the Beelink SER7. I am looking to play older games and indies titles. The 8845HS is almost identical to a 7840HS with an NPU. AI seems the buzzword of the moment. This M6 gives me pause. It's optimized and finely tuned.
I have the SER7 and at first glance the difference that would matter to me is the lack of USB4/Thunderbolt on back of the GMKTec boxes. I consider that to be a minimum requiremnt these days. The one thing I don't like about the SER7 is the proprietary power supply, although it works fine.
Just got this one myself, and the bios was already updated to the newest one. Paid 208 USD on Aliexpress for the 16/512gb, amazing value and feels a little faster, cpu wise, than my 12400. Great little machine to play around with
Right on. While Intel is less popular than AMD for the high end gamer crowd Intel's low power moderate performance line kills. I went with GMKtec N100 for about $120 to replace an old I5-4590S home built Plex server. While the N100 box is a little lower in CPU horsepower for this application its more advance internal GPU more that compensates for transcoding.
Sure.. when you d t care about any gaming. N100 iGPUs are hot Garbage. Yea, you get hardware transcoding of more CODECs, but that comes at the expense of ANY useful GPU gaming performance.
It does not support speeds above 4800? I was planning to get the barebone version and get some 6000 sticks for it. So that would be a waste of money...
I just ordered a m6 myself. I have been looking for alternative cooling solutions . Yet to see anyone do a review on that. I have ordered a little enclosure to with fans on the sides to cool the mini pc. Would love to see a review on how well these fans help and which placement of fans would help the most. There are some thats just the top, bottom or just the side and some that is all round.
@@ElevatedSystems yes, try resolve free. Only because people wanting a cheap mobile desktop wouldn't pay for the software that's about the same price as the pc. It's a bit like buying a £1000 car and running £1000 tyres 😁
Would the Lossless Scaling (Frame Generation) Tool On steam for about 7 bucks be a game changer??... I'm just not sure how much it might help, (or if it NEEDS a dedicated video card)...but they say it can double if not triple your frame rate.
@@ElevatedSystems What about the games that don't have built in support tho?... I heard that this program works on everything..with built in support or not.
This cannot beat a 7840hs. This is about the same as a 5800u. There is something wrong with your benchmark. It looks like you tdp limited the geekdom A8 or didnt bench at same settings. The gpu 780m in the A8 is much better than the 660m besides cpu much faster than the 6600. There is no fine tuning that can make an inferior cpu and gpu perform better unless it is not tested on equal grounds.
H spec means it can boost all the cores to the max. hs variants can only "max" boost a couple of cores at the same time which under full or partial multicore means the 6600H could use all the cores to the limit while all the other specs simply had power constraints and probably silicone constraints because its a lower power spec chip. This is why most higher end gaming laptops also use the h variants of there cpus (same for intel and amd currently) as games will need more than 1 or 2 threads to be loaded up, which is why the 7840hs fell behind despite on paper it shouldve been better due to more cores and better graphics. It simply couldnt use the cores as effectively as the 6600u. This "H" spec of cpus difference to other cpus for some reason isn't that well known for reasons I dont know. This is also why Desktop cpu's usually have higher multi core performce when the laptop variants can have similiar single core performance and the same amount of cores
Also due to poor ventilation/cooling many Geekcom mini pc's hamster themselves due to thermal throttling . Like Apple , Geekcom minis look sexy but have very poor cooling solutions limiting their peak performance
Recently tested the Geekom A7 7940HS and I can confirm the RAM thermal throttles quickly after a few minutes for gaming loads. The RAM in Geekom Zen4 mini pc badly needs air flow.
do you not know the actual specs of the usb c port thats on the front......"full featured"......wtf is that.......specs man specs.....is it thunder bolt does it support video out?

avoid this mini pc if u want a pleasant experience out of the box. especially ones with mediatek card in it.... trust me or u gon hav to upgrade to ax200 or domethin

Great review and I love people who do bang/buck PCs. This one seems to be a winner.

I have the SER5 MAX 5800HS and a variant with the 7840hs . For some reason the older model seems snappier .

I wish they could update bios to start accepting 5600mhz ram sticks
It's a CPU limitation, 4800 it is. Cannot change that

This is so much better than the steam deck.
I’m getting this mini pc soon so I can play games what the steam deck can’t play
Absolutely a fantastic review, but I would like to see some video editing in there as virtually everyone does it now.
I tested Premiere Pro

This is $180 in my country for the barebone variant
Im getting this with the hope of slapping in egpu with rx6600 maybe someday
Interesting find, CJ! Thanks for sharing. I will put this unit and manufacturer on my short list for value PCs to suggest to friends and family.
GMKtec doing a big sale for the next 3 days if someone is interested. I picked up a k6 for $480

Frame gen is built into the Radeon Driver

How would it perform with batocera PS3 emulation?
Cpu is better while igpu they just refresh it, that's been the theme with amd.

Can you use Linux mint on it?
Of course. It is x86 CPU.
