Curious if the commentator is aware that the ‘metric mile’ is used as a reference for the 1500m. I doubt the athlete who has a 4:03 metric mile pr would be in this race🤣 That would be roughly 4:19-20 mile.
She seems like the much, much more knowledgable commentator but dude could NOT help himself from screaming over her. The girls' mile is even worse - during the intros he just skipped two of the runners bc he knew nothing about them. Yikes.
The people at Penn initially wanted to add more lanes into the track probably because of Penn Relays, but because of the stadium and history, they couldn’t so they added them onto the inside, where they are shorter and start farther back. Lane 4 is lane 1 in terms of shape and distance

they're not, they have a few lanes on the inside for warmups. it's unusual looking though.
