You don't see this kind of blatant wrecking in Formula 3 or the Indy Lights even though the majority of drivers in those series are around the same age and come from similar backgrounds as the ARCA drivers. The reason why that is the case is because it is far more expensive to replace parts on an open wheel machine than it is a stock car in general although costs have gone up in recent years. If a driver wrecks too many times in either Formula 3 or Indy Lights, they are dropped by their team in most cases because their driving style is seen as a financial liability to the team. And 5 of them can't maintain minimum speed, and another 5 are so slow they're in the way. @@chada75 Yeah. Lancaster is great. If he heals from his injury at Talladega it would be cool to see him do a full season. He isn't young but in his few starts he has proven to be competitive. Maybe he could win a championship if he goes full-time.
When Kimmel retired you lost your veteran that drew in crowds and taught young drivers the etiquette of racing at a high level. Similar to the decline of trucks. Back in the day you had the old drivers, like Hornaday, Bodine, Sprague, Musgrave, Benson, Crafton, and the list goes on. You lose the veterans, and replace them with teens, and a slogan like "names are made here", it all results in a diaper league and a fanbase that doesn't want to treat professional racecar drivers like adults. This crap is why I was always part of the minority on cup drivers dropping back. Helps drivers learn.
As an ARCA fan, it’s very sad to see ARCA on a downward spiral for god knows how long. Like, 2018?? Like I want ARCA to be successful again, but it’s just sad to see less cars in ARCA in most races But Incase if ARCA does die soon, I’m enjoying every moment of the ARCA Menards Series! I thought the Winchester race was last night, but the lack of respect for the young drivers (whether they have talent or not) is stupidly ridiculous
Gibbs should've gone straight to either Trucks or Xfinity- He was dominant in the ARCA Menards Series 2020 season despite not competing full time in the series. There is no point to run the full 2021 season for him.
JGR prob had him run full time in ARCA this year to hopefully get sponsorship so when he moves up to trucks/xfinity JGR won’t have to fully fund the season. Unfortunately for them it looks like no one wants to touch Gibbs. I mean hell Larson has more sponsors than Gibbs and the narrative is that no one wants to sponsor him. Looks like the new narrative should be no one wants to sponsor Gibbs.
I never knocked his performance bruh just saying that clearly Gibbs is atleast a little toxic to sponsors otherwise he would have them. Him winning in Xfinity clearly hasn’t helped him or JGR find sponsors. Still it’s looking he will be full time in the 20 next year since H. Burton is going to Wood Bros but I wouldn’t be surprised if Gibbs car is unsponsored for majority of the season.
It's too bad what happened at the all american 400 (300) with him and Thorn. But yeah, Hocevar after a weak year has been on freaking fire ever since last year.
ARCA cars are what the gen 6 shoulda been, bodies that better resemble road cars but don't have bodies that create as much dirty air, a medium blade like the gen 4 days and have valences instead of spitters on the front.
@@acegarcia3719 Problem is the bodies are unbalanced, the Ford is around 10mph slower on the Superspeedways to the Toyota, and the Chevy is also slower than the Toyota.
ARCA has always been a wreck fest series but I don’t recall any 16 year olds when I once watched the series years ago. The 16 year old kid needs to be parked and has shown he doesn’t have the maturity level needed. Even a 17 year old, in my opinion, do not need to be driving these cars. These kids grew up in local tracks where people thought they were great. Put them in a series where the talent is better and you see very quickly many of them will never in the xfinity series let alone cup.
I think NASCAR taking over ARCA a few years back and labeling it as a "fourth premier series" is what really killed it. Now it's just some daddy's money kids trying to make it to trucks that have no clue how to race with respect. It used to be the premier series for drivers that had the talent and respect but didn't have the money and/or resources to make it to NASCAR.
2 years at this rate, no one races there anymore. Just a bunch of rich kids in factory-support equipment where is like 5 competitive cars in the field only to be exposed once they hit the truck series.
ARCA reminds me of the old CARS series that was at one time known as the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series. CARS ended the series when car counts were getting too low and decided to focus on late model racing instead. ARCA decided that the cars needed to be specifically built for the series and that hurt a lot of teams. The series was built on being a series that people could get old Winston Cup cars and be able to race. With the change to a new car in the Cup Series and the move away from teams building the cars, there could’ve been some positive moves made if ARCA used old Cup cars still. A lot of teams are going to have to sell a bunch of cars that essentially won’t be raced anymore. ARCA would’ve been a great place to use those. Plus if you had more teams coming into ARCA then that gives some of the people losing their jobs in NASCAR a place to go instead of likely being out of the sport.
I am not old enough to remember the glory days of arca when frank kimmel won every race and 10 titles in a row. I am sure social media had a field day with that claiming how his equipment was better and he had daddy money from his prior arca wins. I love the arca series. That was a great race at winchester this past weekend. I have been to 4 of the races this season and plan on 3 more. I enjoy the low cost for tickets, parking and camping. And I enjoy usually get a chance to talk to some drivers afterwards which never happens in the big series
I went to my first and last ARCA race last year at Memphis International Raceway and it was the series championship. 16 car field. Ty Gibbs won. One groove race track. Even Halie Deegan got like 6th place and was barely hanging on the lead lap if she even held onto it. It was like watching paint dry. I almost wanted my $35 back. Next time the news comes on tv saying "Nascar comes back to Memphis" I'm punching someone in the face. That was not worthy to be called a Nascar race. Yes I was kinda mad. I took a couple good photos tho
@Nathon Richardson You’re not even paying attention to who’s ahead of Corey slowing him down but, say what you want I guess. Half of you people hate him because his grandfather is rich and yours isn’t.
The issue with Gibbs and Heim is they have no competition beyond themselves so all their beating and banging has little to no consequences. Hopefully they'll mellow out once they progress into the higher series.
Ty Gibbs is just a kid! These kids have become fearless because they haven't been hurt in these cars. They need a couple of impacts that guys like Richard Petty took these cars are so safe these kids don't think they can be hurt or killed. ARCA has gone to total crap!
Eric have you not heard? ARCA’s been promoted to being a trucks practice series! Every successful bump and dump is an ARCA driver’s one step closer to Nascar’s third premier series!
Yeah, nice to see him progress. Same with Jett Noland and some other guys their age who are good, but not winning big late model races in their teens like Gio Bromante more recently or Erik Jones, etc. A little while back.
@@johnk8475 that's a good question. I'm 100% guessing here, but maybe a combo of highschool and covid related concerns causing a bit of a stall in his progress. 15 year old coming back from a broken back, first race in a SLM, holds off Harrison Burton and Ty Majeski for the Rattler 250, then the epic come back at Five Flags in his second race was such an exciting run. He did like one Arca race last year, and like 2 SLM races, but that's it as far as I know. His website hasn't been updated, either. Hopefully we see more of him again.
The NAPA Auto Parts Colorado 150 this weekend as part of the West series was a good race after you get past the first 30 laps. The broadcast will be on NBCSN on 8/11 at 3pm ET. This track typically has aggressive driving but showed a solid race this time, IMO.
I'll be attending the ARCA race at the Milwaukee Mile at the end of the month, my first ARCA race, so it'll be interesting to see how they race the track.
Love seeing Eric actually be critical of something! Usually a little too agreeable (love ya Eric but you seem to give the benefit of the doubt to people making bad decisions a lot of times) but a nice change!
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, ARCA should become a nationally touring late model strictly stock series, where drivers race what the dealers and parts stores actually sell. Open it up to any production model of any manufacturer, be it gas, electric, or hybrid, and to any stock tire. And allow the teams to switch models and even makes as they choose during the season depending on track type, race length, or other relevant factors.
Man oh man, Eric you hit the nail on the head. I watched it and thought the same thing. The Gray family needs to understand that just because they came from drag racing, they're not setting the NASCAR world on fire like they thought they would. Gray needs to be on a VERY short leash. These kids need to understand that there's a difference between talent and a demolition derby. If you have to push someone out of the way, you didn't really win the race, you won a demolition derby. Personally, I hate that bump-and-run because it doesn't take talent to win a demolition derby. True talent wins cleanly!
I totally agree its really frustrating seeing these teenagers with big daddy's money with literally no God damn driving talent driving theses really expensive race cars and they literally don't have to fix them when the cars are totaled. 😤😫🤬.
Weirdly the West series has been the healthiest of the three ARCA series this year. They actually have more than 10 full time drivers. Even backwater Colorado managed 18 cars.
The only down side to running Super/ Late Models is, they are typically 3 link cars and have a different feel than truck arm cars. (Only Cup cars get IRS for 2022)
The first time I saw an ARCA race on tv I started watching during a caution, 2 laps after that caution ended another one popped up. This happened 3 more times in a row and since then I've stopped taking ARCA seriously
I will admit it is tough to drive a race car. I get if you bump someone while passing, that is ok. But when you completely dump someone that is un called for.
All the veterans are gone and when you can hire a 18 y/o for alot less than a veteran driver, you have nobody for them to learn from. Everybody wants the next big superstar. I never know when ARCA is on but the same thing has happened in the trucks and xfinity.
These kids all have someone funding everything, no clue at all how to fix them. Make some of these kids actually have to fix what they wreck pay for it themselves they might learn respect but as long as Daddy's paying for everything and they don't know how to use a wrench there's no respect. Also since NASCAR took over the ARCA series clearly they couldn't care less about the series.

ARCA went from like...35 drivers to only 20. Yeah, it's basically on fumes.
20 is generous…
Nascar buys Arca, it goes to shit who would have guessed.
Great series that NASCAR bought/sanctions:
Goody's Dash
ARTGO
ALL-PRO Late Models
Southwest Late Models
SMART Mods
Busch North
Busch All Stars Dirt Models
All gone
Next is all Three ARCA series.
Tbf, ARCA was in trouble long before the buyout. Wasn’t even the nail in the coffin, more like just throwing dirt on it.
And 5 of them can't maintain minimum speed, and another 5 are so slow they're in the way. I mean, ARCA has always had quite a few cars that were much slower than the rest of the field, but when the fields are that small, that leaves you with only a handful of cars that are "competitive", and only one or two who can actually compete for a win.
I think Ty Gibbs is overconfident
I agree
More like overrated. He gets the best equipment. He's a punk kid.
@@jordandrye350 I have to agree with that too, but just a little bit, though he does have two wins this season in the Xfinity Series he is still a bit overrated

ARCA is dead. It was so packed at one point and had many future stars. Now its completely pointless. The fact that there's 15 cars in a race is sadly pathetic. They need to shut the series down. Its so sad these guys have to wreck each other for wins
What they need to do is witch to a late model with a crate motor and get the money out of it.
I agree, either get rid of it or do something to SIGNIFICANTLY reduce cost for teams and make it more competitive.

The ARCA Series is disappointing nowadays. I miss the days of Frank Kimmel and Bobby Gerhart. I would go as far as say some of these kids should not be in the series and competing in the East and West series. The drivers that don't have a ride in Xfinity and Truck Series or compete part-time should be in those rides like Grant Enfinger. ARCA should be the fourth main series, not a development.
I was actually just going to talk about that! I grew up with guys like Kimmel, Bobby Gerhart.

Only true fans know Frank Kimmel. Those are the years arca needs back
I was at the ARCA West race last night. I thought it was awesome racing. 5 cars were in contention but they all raced pretty dang well! It was nice to see!
I don't watch ARCA for the young drivers. I watch it for drivers like Andy Jankowiak, Greg Van Alst, etc.
I only watch arca when Toni Breidinger races lol.
Like Derek Lancaster. He seems that he came up the old school way.
The real question is why isn’t this track in iRacing?
As an ARCA fan, it’s very sad to see ARCA on a downward spiral for god knows how long. Like, 2018?? Like I want ARCA to be successful again, but it’s just sad to see less cars in ARCA in most races
But Incase if ARCA does die soon, I’m enjoying every moment of the ARCA Menards Series!

Off topic but I love the arca cars it makes me feel like I am back in 2013 or 2014
Yeah me too
I used to like arca superspeedway cars it was the gen 4 car till about 2018
Yes
I give ARCA 5 years MAX before it bites the dust
2 years at this rate, no one races there anymore. Just a bunch of rich kids in factory-support equipment where is like 5 competitive cars in the field only to be exposed once they hit the truck series.
A majority of the drivers are entitled brats that never turned a wrench. They dont know the value of a destroyed racecar.
EXACTLY 👏
Nothing will change until you start parking these drivers for hooking or punting someone
getting some veterans in the series who won't put up with their shenanigans would help
make them pay for the damages on the other cars too while youre at it
Eric: talks about ARCA being an uncontrollable wreckfest.

Oh god, I remember that moment that Taylor Gray did when using his phone to record himself driving at Daytona at a young age.
Just goes to show how easy they are to drive
I went to my first and last ARCA race last year at Memphis International Raceway and it was the series championship. 16 car field. Ty Gibbs won. One groove race track. Even Halie Deegan got like 6th place and was barely hanging on the lead lap if she even held onto it. It was like watching paint dry. I almost wanted my $35 back. Next time the news comes on tv saying "Nascar comes back to Memphis" I'm punching someone in the face. That was not worthy to be called a Nascar race. Yes I was kinda mad. I took a couple good photos tho

I was wandering why I recognized that name 🤡
And just the fact that he’s younger than me....and I’m still in high school 😂
Don’t forget the injury
Joey Logano's dad had to be restrained when Matt Kenseth wrecked him.
As did a fair contingent of Laganos pit crew.
In Ty’s defense, Corey had a lapped car right in front of him and had to lift and Ty had no time to get off the gas.
@Nathon Richardson He was right on his bumper, had no time to lift when there’s a lapped car slowing him down.
@Nathon Richardson You’re not even paying attention to who’s ahead of Corey slowing him down but, say what you want I guess. Half of you people hate him because his grandfather is rich and yours isn’t.
Its sad but the lack of danger that we have today compared to 15 and 20 years ago and the lower age limit for stock cars have lead to this.
Great commentary on the state of the ARCA series. I miss the days of Tim Steele, Bill Venturini, Bobby Bowsher, Frank Kimmel, & Bob Strait.
i miss when arca had up to 40 car fields with most of them being competitive enough to put on some great racing
Yes me too
The issue with Gibbs and Heim is they have no competition beyond themselves so all their beating and banging has little to no consequences. Hopefully they'll mellow out once they progress into the higher series.
Heim will do nothing once he enters the truck series, look what happened to Eckes and Drew Dollar once they hit the truck series.

Ty Gibbs doing Ty Gibbs thing no surprise here!
Ty Gibbs is just a kid! These kids have become fearless because they haven't been hurt in these cars. They need a couple of impacts that guys like Richard Petty took these cars are so safe these kids don't think they can be hurt or killed. ARCA has gone to total crap!

Just wanted to let you know you inspire me to do better in life, collecting, and nascar racing in general. Hope to meet you one day.
Hmm sounds like maybe we should wait till they have a driver’s license
I race in IMCA and stuff and you just have to be 13 or older. Most of respect each other on the race track and not dump each other like the arca guys
In some areas, you can get your license at 16
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, ARCA should become a nationally touring late model strictly stock series, where drivers race what the dealers and parts stores actually sell.

I remember seeing my first arca race back In 2018 and I remember even at that time one young driver chase purdy kept wrecking throughout the season.
Eric keep doing good work. You make very good videos and i like all of them :)
The ARCA west race last night was really good! Hard racing, and an underdog winner with clean passes all night long.
Weirdly the West series has been the healthiest of the three ARCA series this year. They actually have more than 10 full time drivers. Even backwater Colorado managed 18 cars.
The trend of overly aggressive young drivers I feel like started with Joey Logano...
No. Joey was over aggresive but not this bad. Plus he has talent. These kids are trash. Not all but most are punk rich kids.
Logano was the opposite. He was a pretty clean driver at a younger age and got more aggressive overtime.
Yea, and he was being pushed around in the earlier years, and that 2013 incident at Bristol just pushed him over the edge
Harvick was out of control in the fall of 2001 and Spring of 2002 until he got parked.
@@nickchana8573 didn't he get told to start being more aggressive, then when he did, people started hating him?

The only down side to running Super/ Late Models is, they are typically 3 link cars and have a different feel than truck arm cars. (Only Cup cars get IRS for 2022)
The first time I saw an ARCA race on tv I started watching during a caution, 2 laps after that caution ended another one popped up. This happened 3 more times in a row and since then I've stopped taking ARCA seriously
I will admit it is tough to drive a race car. I get if you bump someone while passing, that is ok. But when you completely dump someone that is un called for.
Just was announced that Daniel Dye's incident resulted in a concussion. So avoidable on Gray's part.
I love how this is being talked about now, and not when Deegan is running in the series
I remember a NASCAR UA-camr named TNTMan93. And he made a lot of jokes about how chaotic ARCA races are.

You should have to be 18 minimum for arca, 20 for the trucks, 23 for xfinity and 25 for cup.
You actually do have to be 18 in Arca if you want to run the full schedule but the age requirement is only 18 for the big tracks
It’s like somebody combined two of will Ferrells movies kicking and screaming and talladega nights
Every junior series in the world is a blood bath right now. We really shouldn’t be pushing teenagers up the ranks so fast because the maturity level isn’t there
And they get these ideas because they see the big guys wrecking each other and making stupid moves
ARCA at one time was a really good series.....breevak, Steele, horton, bowsher and so many others made it a great series. Now it's a rich kids play ground with a few old school racers hanging on. Just like with everything else nascar touches...they killed it.
