Ah, this is lovely. I have been anticipating this video since the Instagram posts. Now, here we are. Also, our bro Ajay is always a god-tier addition to the videos, in my opinion. I like how he expresses his thoughts. 👌
Beautiful car. Miss them in Canada. Please VW fix this. The cross sport is not a comparable alternative. Lovely scenery. Fantastic presentation as usual. Viele gruesse aus Kanada
Beautiful car and a beautiful road! I prefer the look of the hybrid over the R model. Make more videos on spectacular roads like this one in Norway, it's great to watch.
Small islands also known as keys where I'm from. Anyway, those European road don't leave much room for error. That reminds me of a similar cross water road in Florida, and its claim to fame is that it leads to the only bridge (7 Mile Bridge) in the world between two oceans. No mountains, of course, but beautiful turquoise waters.
It looks amazing in photos and videos, but in reality, you feel very normal while driving. I lived near to this for 6 years, and drove may be 50 times to this place
Beautifully shot Atlantic Road segment but I found the road underwhelming when we did it. I think you need perfect weather or really terrible weather to be impressed by it.
That type of a car will never become a "R" car.. It is meant for luxurious touring all year and everywhere. So go with the normal version, and fill it up with all the extras you can afford. Then it is perfect. :)
Excellent review, beautiful scenery. The Touareg is a special car, often overlooked but one of the best in the business. Hopefully, Volkswagen don't drop it from the lineup considering the recent news, they should bring it back to North America to take on the Land Cruiser.
Wow Thomas, this is really something. What a vehicle and what a drive!! Definitely will need to head to Norway someday to drive this. Also appreciate the shout out to the Transfagarasan, from my wife's native country! I also have to say, I much prefer the styling of the non-R version! All the lines get lost in the black of the R. But the chrome accents make the regular version really stand out and look regal. Also that wood, so old school 👌
Hey Thomas! Great content btw! Awesome scenery and amazing review! My theory about "Rear Wheel Steering (RWS)" and "Anti Tilt Feature (ATF)" is that RWS and ATF are dropped in Touareg not because it is a PHEV, but because it is a VW. If it was an Audi or Porsche, they would've given both RWS and ATF in that. If I am not wrong, some of VW group company PHEVs have both ATF and RWS. If this Touareg had both RWS and ATF, then there would be even lesser reasons for prospect customers to not go for other competitors in this same class. As you've pointed out that PHEV gubbins don't interfere with the AWD and former is integrated with the latter, then considering that RWS and ATF are mechanical stuff, these were, may be, deliberately left out of a VW product to not only keep it's cost lower but also to keep other premium brands' distinctive from a VW. Cheers!
I think the Atlantic Ocean road is a bit overrated, I much more prefer road 63, between Trollstigen - Geiranger - Dalsnibba, just 75km from Atlantic Ocean road!
great video... But please, with all your PHEV videos: Many of us want to know the all-electric range in these vehicles from actual test drives, with the vehicle driven in all-electric mode from a full charge until the charge goes to zero; this is an all-important figure for most people considering PHEVs today (more important than almost any other feature of the vehicle, in fact). And knowing what the all-electric range is at two different types of driving: highway driving (average speeds > 100 km/hr) and also in city/town (non-highway driving, which is what most people do most days of the year; average speeds < 70 km/hr).
How good is the VW hybrid awd system? Does it do well on 4 roller test? (Volvo phev awd falls short of the haldex system nit used to use, and is now a mostly useless awd hybrid)
Great scenery let down a bit by Tuareg which moves towards old daddy bus from Dakkar championship winner..😕 so sorry for that..😕 Many thanks for great video👍
The editing in this video seems a bit strange and makes if feel like you're rushing. I think it's because you've clipped the footage too soon after a sentence ends. Love the chanel.
This car is between 80k and 100k€... Bro, with that price i can buy a GLE or an X5... really VW? you think you'll sell this car at the same price than Mercedes and BMW??? Also the Audi Q7 is the same price... People will go for this cars... only a few will buy this one.
VW needs to get RID of the shiny black interior plastic, the Haptic Touch controls on the steering wheel and put back rotary dial heat & a/c controls. Otherwise quite nice!
Do we still need vehicles like this? They seem a little out of touch, especially coming from Volkswagen. Tiguan should be big enough for most purposed. Touareg is just excess for the sake of it.
Anyone notice, the check engine light is already ON. I’d stay away from this and other German money pits. Go Japanese and you won’t have mechanical problems
the engine check light is ALWAYS on in every single vehicle of the Volkswagen corporation brands when the ignition is turned on. This is to show that the light itself does work. As soon as you start the engine for real, the flash disappears. You only have a problem when the check engine light goes on when the engine is running :)
What a pleasant surprise 😎👍 "stereo" presentation, in any way 😀 I envy you guys for driving those nice cars on that magnificent road. I also dreamed about driving on that road, but, not so lucky yet.
This is interesting because electric car reviewer from Norway, Bjorn Nyland has a YT series out now of his trip in a Tesla Y driving through Germany to Lake Bled in Slovenia. Also, it's unfortunate that we can't get wonderful cars like the Touareg PHEV here in the US. Vielen dank & mange takk!
Professional presentation with an informal touch, as always. Breathtaking visuals. Want to visit Norway after this pandemic is over. The car is expensive though. Price wise they are up against the bigger SUVs from Merc, BMW etc. Is your co-conspirator an Indian?
I really want the Touareg R with 462hp, both for braging, extra performance, the DYNAUDIO sound system, and so on my concern is reliability, because some cars will fail at specific things after x years, x km driven, while some problems can be fixed for cheap, other issues might be expensive, like air suspension which (luckily) in most cases is an optional expensive feature also, the location doesn't really makes me think it's a nice place, but don't worry, I live in Norway, so I'm used to the norwegian nature and view at some places, and I prefer green nature because it reminds me about real fresh air (not filtered air, or "fresh air" as in the air outdoor), the fresh air with the smell of plants and trees
Here in North America we don't have the opportunity to purchase the Touareg. As is the case with other vehicles VW found that North Americans prefer SUVs to be larger and less expensive than than European consumers. There are multiple reasons. Lacking the extensive rail system found in Europe more Americans, especially our budget constrained citizens, depend on personal transportation to cover our vast geography on family trips. Our cheap fuel, heavily subsidized in the US by the Federal government, further encourages larger, less expensive vehicles. And it has to be admitted that our addiction to SUVs is matched or exceeded by our addiction to fast food leading to the need for roomier vehicles. In the case of larger SUVs these factors all contribute to the existence of the VW Atlas built in the US and the disappearance of the Touareg after the first generation failed to generate the sales VW hoped for. It's a shame (imo). The current Touareg is a beautiful and highly functional vehicle. But in the absence of an opportunity to own one this video at least provides a gorgeous substitute in terms of scenery. Much appreciated.
Your fuel is not subsidized by your government, but ours is heavily taxed (ca.4$ per gallon). Electric cars, wind parks and photo-voltaic panels ARE subsidised by our governments. Despite that electric cars are too expensive and out of reach for working class and useless to city dwellers without personal chargers. One gigantic transfer of wealth to rich, obnoxious and condecending suburbanites and final nail in the coffin of working men and car industry too. We've decided to destroy our civilisation so that dimwits can virtue-signal their "concerns about the enviroment" and their "scientific" approach to this pandemic. Never in my life have I seen more semi-educated people with greater belief in their own god-like righteousness.
@@ms-jl6dl Sorry. You're incorrect. Federal tax subsidies to oil companies have amounted to trillions of dollars over the years. Ever heard of the oil depletion allowance?

I guess you'll be able to get a good discount from VW, otherwise I don't think much people will consider buying it
I drive a 2016 VW Touareg TDI. I could have easily bought a BMW or Mercedes. Didn’t need that BS prestige

The Touareg R: It’s all about optical packages interior & exterior rather than sporty exhaust sound.
Looks like VW used this body for Bentayga.
One day, i will ship gt3 over for dis bridge..
