    Your chemical setup is like an IVF lab! Very very sophisticated....Your tank looks great.

      Cheers Jay. Me too, I'm intrigued to see how the ICP results will compare at the end of the month. Consumption has increased even after making the video so it's a good sign I'm getting more growth

      It certainly does, but unfortunately it doesn't increase the concentration ☹️ that was 50% of the issue

    Nice update vid again Tris. Sometime in the near future, I have to move my tank. Its in a bedroom at the moment, has to go downstairs into the dinning room. I think it would be a great idea for you to come down. Manage the planning of it and also manage the move itself.

    • @NanoTankReefer

      Moving tanks is my biggest fear. So much so when I move out of the place I currently live in I'll shit the tank down and start again 🙈

    If you are concerned with costs, have you considered mixing your own supplements? I am not scientifically minded, but followed a simple set of calculations, three ICP tests later everything remains consistently stable with all sps/lps/softies continuing to flourish. Anything shown low within the ICP which is not being replaced by regular water changes, I simply buy and manually dose that appropriate additive (iodine for example).

    • @NanoTankReefer
      @NanoTankReefer  3 роки тому

      That's a little like what I used to do. When I first started the tank I used to dose everything manually. Trace elements individually every other day and the main 3 components daily. I never mastered the art of getting the ionic balance correct and the parameters were all over the shop. On paper I'm happy with the costs of Triton core 7 and if it keeps the tank as stable with trace elements as AF did I'll be a happy man

    • @billclarke7893
      @billclarke7893 3 роки тому

      @@NanoTankReefer totally understand reasoning behind using a branded dosing additives, I did the same for many years. Now combining those quarterly ICP results (which will become half yearly then annually when totally happy with stability) with regular 15% water changes using a good quality salt alongside diligent weekly testing and adjusting the auto dosing as corals grow/mature and take up more of those three core elements, saves money long term and adds a little more hands on interest to the hobby. Unfortunately everything with 'marine' in the title, adds pounds to the product, when in reality, somethings don't need to be as my little experiment has proved. Care and attention to your tank promotes success, as your tanks show, but this hobby does not need to be so expensive.
      Keep doing what you are doing, I enjoy watching the channel, you have an envenous setup to be proud of.

    Thats interesting bud. I've gone the other way. I'm not surprised it cost that much using the component stuff. I use the AF powders and i worked it out and it was cheaper. 🤷‍♂️😬

    • @NanoTankReefer
      @NanoTankReefer  3 роки тому

      I agree, mixing the components is much cheaper but I would still be stuck with refilling the containers weekly. It's just too weak for me to continue dosing AF
