    I use the slow cooker feature all the time and love it! If it doesn't cook as thoroughly as I'd like, I just pressure cook it for a few minutes. I rarely have a problem. I am just sure to adjust the slow cooking temp from low to med to high, depending on what I'm cooking. Thanks for the tips!

    This should be REQUIRED watching for all new Instapot owners! I heard your advice about turning the lid upside down when storing, and immediately ran to do that with mine! I still want to see how to clean the lid in the dishwasher, though....Thanks for an excellent video!

    • @surlyogre1476
      @surlyogre1476 4 роки тому

      The lid (and liner pot) are dishwasher-safe, though it helps to disassemble the lid:
      1. remove the sealing ring.
      2. pry off the _float valve retainer_ . The float valve (also called the _pin_ ) is held on by a small flexible plastic dome _under_ the lid.
      now 3. the float valve will fall out - did you catch it?
      4. the pressure relief comes off if you pull it straight up.
      Now the lid can go into the dishwasher, the small parts should be washed separately.
      Hope this helps, it took longer to write this, than to actually do it.

    My pot came with 2 different colored rings and I use one for savory (AKA stinky) recipes and the other for "sweet" or low aroma dishes so the smells aren't taken on by the next food you cook. So far so good!

    I NEVER thought I’d get a burn notice. I did a quick google search, realized my tomato sauce was too thick. I added some extra white wine (the recipe called for some before) and a little bit of water. All was fine. I may have added a little too much wine though. 😅

I boiled water in the kettle and add boiling water over the vegetables. pressure takes less time I do the same if I need boiling water to cook on induction

    #15 - the toothbrush is a great tool for cleaning, but I have an easier time getting to all the nooks and crannies in the main pot, with a foam paint brush. You can find just the right size and they're beveled on the end (like a wedge) to fit perfectly. Can be found in any craft store or where crafts are sold (Walmart).

    Just a tip- i was having issues with the slow cooker button as well but I figured out a way around it. I use the sauté button to bring the food up to temperature (a simmer or boil depending on what I’m making) and then cancel and use the slow cook button as usual. Works perfectly!

    Any time I add water or liquid to mine, I leave on the keep warm function. That heats the water so it takes less time to come to pressure when I switch over to pressure cooking. The spoon that comes with the Instant Pot has a hole in the handle. That's what I use to turn the valve from sealing to venting keeping my hand completely away from the steam. The Ultra valve is just a button, so I used the end of the handle to press the button down.

    I wanted to share, about the preset buttons. I LOVE them!.. You should try them... You set your own preset time. My poultry i set it to 20min, beans 20.. What ever time you set last it records as a set time.... I shared with my sister that is she wasn't that much of a fan of the buttons, she should set then in intervals of 5 or 10 mins. As long as she knows/remembers the order of the pot them in she'll be good... But i say PLEASE give the buttons a try, it makes it so much easier than constantly setting a manual time.. Thanks! 😊 Oh 🎉congrats on the book🎊

    Your #5 tip (cooking eggs); I have to say, this didn't work for me. However, I have found cooking the eggs for 3 minutes, then "Natural Release" for 10 min, then, in cold/ice water for an additional 10 min +/-, my hard cooked eggs come out perfectly EVERY time (I was getting the green ring with the 5-5-5 method. Just thought I'd throw that out there. Oh, yeah, I am using the IP Duo-6.

    You can change the settings on the preset buttons. I use the porridge button for my oatmeal all the time. I have it set to cook for 1 minute with old-fashioned rolled oats. That way, I don't have to change the time from whatever I cooked last. I also use the yogurt button a lot. After a lot of experimenting, my yogurt turns out perfect every time. I use only 2 ingredients: Fairlife milk and Mountain High plain yogurt for the starter. (I've never tried to use yogurt from the last batch as a starter.)

I got the notice about 3 times before I thought to check the release handle and sure enough it wasn't put back on properly. So, there is one more reason for the Burn message.

    When you make pasta, put your sauce in the bottom then your pasta and put enough water to just cover the pasta. One pound pasta one jar sauce. 6 minutes

    #19 *the BURN notice* quick fix: push the _cancel_ button, and let the pot sit, undisturbed, for the time you had intended to cook. The pot is already up to temperature and pressure, just let it "coast".
    edit: especially for spaghetti (and other pasta) keep the pasta _off_ the bottom of the pot; pasta on the bottom almost guarantees a *burn* .

    #11- after using my IP I rinse the lid and ring well then sprinkle it with baking soda and let that sit a few hours/overnight then rinse with hot water.
    If it’s really bad I pour white vinegar around the ring and let that soak a bit.
    There’s very little one of these two super deodorizers can’t take care of 👍🏼😎

    When cooking eggs does the ring stink afterwards?

      @natalief9937 4 роки тому

      Nancy B I’ve been cooking hard boiled eggs in mine for a while and the ring doesn’t stink. If the egg cracks, there’s a little smell but I put it in the dishwasher and that takes care of it!
