ILCA knows the metagame lol that's W I L D!!! 🤣🤣🤣 I'm gonna use her team is showdown soon lol it's THAT good!!! Now...is this my favorite battle in the series? I dunno. it's UP THERE but I still think the battle VS Red in G/S/C is better. HG/SS's battle Vs Red is good too but...there's just something special about that nostalgic battle. I AM NOT READY FOR HER POSTGAME BATTLE!!! 😂

You probably didn't know but her pokemon are competitively built with the perfect nature, and EV and IV values plus the held items and sometimes hidden abilities
No wonder I struggled so hard. I managed to beat her the first time but the frustration I felt afterwards was enough for me not to touch the game after that.

Mirror coat on her Milotic was actually pretty genius.
Her triggering Milotic's Marvel Scale to increase defense, plus scald which can inflict burn to lower your attack, strongly incentivizes you to use special moves instead.
And of course, that's exactly what she wants. 😈
When she broke out mirror coat after all of that I legit laughed out loud. Lol.

Bro, I had my Dialga fully buffed op on X items, underleveled on my first run. 6x sp atk. Roar of time didn't do the trick. Never felt a mirror coat hit my soul harder than that one.
Conceded, leveled up and challenged again slightly overleveled.
Fighting Cynthia made me want a Milotic with Mirror Coat. Do you guys have any idea how long it took me to get a male Corsola? The amount of hours I wasted until I finally just traded for it...

Now imagine this fight without fairy types and no friendship mechanics that tough out damage, that's what 10 year old me had to deal with lol
To be fair this game compensate by giving her competitive set and perfect IV and Ev soooo that garchomp is a menace. It's also holding a yache berry so first Ice type move may not ohko unless you are boosted or do enough damage. Imagine the horror if they gave Cynthia the power of friendship aka affection boost too.

Imagine playing this back when OG games came out when there was no fairy types and no modern exp share, so more likely than not, most ppls teams were way underleveld against her team which had ev training and perfect IVs. Look forward to see your battles against her post game battles. I hear her 2nd rematch is pretty bonkers.
Wait I am a bit confused. Do you mean imagine fighting this Cynthia in the old style? Because back in DPPT she just had perfect IVs.
@@IexistIguessidk What I meant was imagine fihgitng Cynthia in the original DP without the modern exp share and foreknowledge of her pokemon. In the original Diamond Pear and Platinum, exp share was a single item that you gave to a pokemon and that pokemon would get exp. Modern exp-share shares exp to all your party automatically, allowing the rest of your team be closer in level with each other. Back in the originals, only pokemon who participated in the battle or were holding the exp share would get xp. So what would end up happening is when you get to the elite 4 and cynthia, only your most used pokemon(s) would be any where close to the Cynthia's level cause they would be getting the majority of the xp, while the rest of the team were underleveld. So you would need to do some good ol'fashioned grinding to get the rest of your party up to par in level with cynthia's. So in that way, the original fights were harder in the sense that a lot of people's teams were underleveled as well as most people not knowing what was on cynthia's team.
Now with the remakes, almost everyone knows who cynthia's pokemon are and try to make a team to fight her, as well as the modern xp share keeping their whole party close in levels, making the game overall less grindy than it originally was. Also Fairy type exist, so Spirit tomb now has a weakness. To compensate for this fact, the people doing the remakes reworked the entire elite 4 and cynthia to have more competitive move sets as well as improved AI. Like in the remakes, Garchomp is always sent out last, so any Garchomp counters people have prepared have to fight their way through her entire team before reaching Garchomp.
In short, imagine fighting cynthia while your pokemons are like in the mid to late 50s and maybe lower 60s for your primary pokemon. Underleveled.

You did it cleaner than me! I snatched Cynthia by running out her Earthquake and Dragon Claw PPs lmao. I'd send out Empoleon or Jirachi to bait her into using Earthquake, then immediately switch out to Staraptor to dead the Earthquakes/negate her Swords Dances with Intimidate. Rinse and repeat til she ran out of Earthquakes, when all she had left were swords dance and poison jab, Dialga and Jirachi took no damage. Got her ass with a Blizzard

got to love the fact that he says are you scared since she swapped not even 10 seconds after he swapped to have a type advantaged it just didn't work for her and she still would had won if you didn't heal lol i know other did but i was able to beat her first try just took a bit of luck and friendship but boy do i hate that friendship bs i'd rather lose 200 times than win because my Pokémon didn't want me to worry i am not a little kid i wish i could had turn that feature off. too many youtuber and streamers only won thanks to that its a shame they brought it back
You can *technically* turn it off, using herbal medicine to make them like you less

If I'm being completely honest, the old gen version of the theme was better simply because the sharpness of the 8-bit type noises made her fight that much more terrifying if that makes sense
