I like how with most kids shows, hearing the characters swear feels wrong but for this show it feels natural.
Like with spongebob hearing or seeing Clancy Brown who plays Mr. Krabs swearing is weird.

So I've recently learned that his shows are just exaggerated stories of the creators life.
Regular show is his college years (he's Mordecai) and the new show called Close Enough is him as an adult.
This short proves the character that sounds like Mordecai looks just like the main Character from Close Enough, then he trips and turns into the bird.
It all makes sense now.
(And as a show standpoint, regular show, and close enough are in the same universe, i wouldn't doubt this is also)

The fart joke JG made was put in the first Terror Tales of the Park special. The "clank" noise when it cut to the ending tag was used for almost every opening episode of the show. The dolphin gag was referenced in the final episode.

I actually think it's a good thing it went to Cartoon Network instead of Adult Swim or Comedy Central - having to wrap all this stuff into a kids' show, with all the limits set by that, is probably much more inspiring for the creators, and makes for a much better show in my opinion.

+Angela Ranzoni not true actually, he pitched it to Cartoon Network originally while working on The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack in '08. It's really shocking how fast he started working at CN after he graduated CalArts, it may have even been within the same month.
JG Quintel had written most of the show “The marvelous misadventures of flapjack”. The show was already an acid trip, and to see both characteristics of the that and regular show in this clip is beyond amazing.

Mordecai and Benson both apply to park management next. Benson works up the ranks while Mordecai slacks forever, resulting in Benson becoming his boss.
