@@lovelywickedness1454 @StarsOverMars - Really? Honestly, I vastly prefer the new look for Pokemon Sun and Moon. Things are so much more expressive then they used to be, much more rubbery and less stiff... the exact opposite of what happened to The Simpsons. Not to mention the exaggeration in some areas, such as the face expressions, which better sells the impact of a scene, be it serious or humorous. The artstyle itself is, in my opinion, also better, better fitting the mood of the show.

Oof, I don't know if I'm ready for that. I've seen a bit of what they've done to my boy.
The pacing, shape, and perspective are no longer used to exaggerate the character, emotion, and drama of the scenes...
It's just cell shaded live action at this point.
but ironically while being live action the gags and stuff that happens is more cartoony which is what sam matt and james originally tried to avoid in the firs 2 seasons 92% of the time with a 8% stretch ability clause when needed like in the bart the daredevil episode where that rule got thrown out the window multiple times to sell jokes in each act ..they tried to keep it grounded and allow maybe 1 joke moment per episode allowed to break reality...they did this for a while even into season 3
So there was some kind of inversion of what's supposed to be realistic and toon... or if not so much that, at least the style lost focus on it's original visual vs. world-building storytelling method. The balancing changed. One thing is obvious with all toons these days, they take simplification to the max and love how viwers aren't as interested in deeper jokes or ideas like they used to be.
I don't see how it's live action. Live action has real actors, and people do not move so stiffly and robotically in real life.

Big difference though jazza is a independent creator using a format he is unfamiliar with in he span of about a day or two the Simpsons were developed by a whole team of super experienced writers animators directors trying to make a funny joke over the course of weeks

That's because they pioneered how adult-targeted cartoons worked. They were basically copied over and over til it seems like the norm now and it can in turn sometimes feel like The Simpson's are the ones doing the copying. They have become a parody of themselves.

i get pretty mad when people complain about apu having been created as a stereotypical character - literally the whole show is based off stereotypes! like, homer is a stereotypical american man, mr burns is a stereotypical rich man, lisa is a stereotypical nerd, the list goes on. if people are going to complain about the characterisation, why not pick holes in the whole damn thing??

Disney movies. I feel like they've changed a lot from when I first started watching them and now. Not only in the visuals, but also just in the way they tell stories. Not to mention that they've just run out of ideas so instead of coming up with more, they're just remaking their old ones and making them live action.
I think there'd actually be a lot to say on this subject, so it might be pretty interesting to make a video on it. But maybe stick to the difference between modern and old animated disney movies.
I think Disney's gotta step up there game. They have a few great hidden movies that they have yet to recover- Imagine if they revived Treasure planet and made it like Frozen/Moana/Rapunzel? Or imagine if they started working on a series of Disney Prince's, all from different lands and different stories the same way that the princesses are seperate and somehow connected.
Also the different POVs and not just what I like to call the ‘sugar cookie’ princesses

I don't think this is entirely fair -- Disney, in the 80's and 90's, was releasing about 1 movie a year, and these days, they're releasing about 2.5 *animated* movies a year, which is pretty amazing. Looking back at the last three and a half years: zootopia, finding dory, moana, Cars 3, coco, incredibles 2, ralph breaks the internet, toystory 4 and the Lion king (which was 100% animated except for ONE shot) ... those are all pretty good movies. Not all of them are GREAT, but a few of them are pretty awesome. And they're all unique stories (except the lion king) -- some of them are sequels, and why not? Happily ever after is for Snow White and Cinderella, while some of us want to know what happens to Nick and Judy next. And the sequels have been good? I remember a time when the only good disney sequel was the Lion King 2.
the live action movies have been being released along side the other movies without taking away from them. (I was going to say that TLK was the exception to that, but TLK was released a month after toy story 4, so... nope. :) )
AS for the statement about storytelling being different. Of course it is. Storytellers have to change with society! Snow White (1937) isn't told in the same way as Lady and the Tramp (1955) , and those are very different from the the Fox and the Hound (1981) which is very different from The Lion king (1994) ... seems weird to expect something released in 2019 to use the same storytelling techiques.
They honestly haven't run out of ideas. They just know they make less money (or, at least, less consistent money) with new ideas than they do with re-hashing the things they know people already love from them.

@@oxenford539 yeah true but it's still a totally different style of animation to consider in thrown into the mix. I've also noticed the 3d line renders in the title sequence in the newer seasons too so it has a really wide variety to look at.
I also find it interesting that it evolved from mostly just vulgar shock humor to very serious political commentary and an advocate of free speech.

i dislike the new episodes as well but i still feel you have nostalgia googles on, even the old simpsons episodes had awful/bland jokes that didn't land all the time
absolutely. Not to mention that it's pretty difficult to come up with new jokes, or even different versions of old jokes, for 31 years.
I watched both and it's definitely a different kind of humour
he clearly forgot to take of the googles and had a very bias opinion. i will however say that the new simpsons have more "really bad jokes". anyway many of the "jokes" he criticised were barely even jokes but just a part of telling the story.

@@Anphyx they did that so it appealed to a younger audience again. He is kind of an idiot in sun and moon. The art style got more serious with each season to keep those who are growing up with it interested in it. But they went back to way more childish and cartoony so new kids wouldn't be intimidated.

if the show ended after season 12 no one would hate on it...thats where it started to fall off the tracks and lose what made It great..seasons 9-11 still had many of the seasons 7-8 staff to keep it from going off the tracks and at least provide 22 minutes of fun comedy if nothing else and the occasional heartfelt moment...while seasons 9-10 and especially 11 are very flawed you can tell they were still somewhat trying to reamain the same show they had been instead of morph into a new breed like it became around season 12 in the new millennium...

Yeah... the writing is better in Korra than in the last airbender.
I have argued this before and I'll die on this hill if so be it; The Legend of Korra was just objectively better and more well structured than The Last Avatar with one exception and I think this is why folks have such nostalgia for it and couldn't accept Korra:
In The Last Airbender there was one main villain and a huge slough of minor to major characters working for the firelord. The main antagonist in The Last Airbender was Zuko up until his redemption ark begins roughly halfway through the series and it takes until the very last book for Zuko to take over the role of basically the chosen one, as he's the one who reunites the Fire nation by usurping the throne from his sister.
Basically as it turns out, due to stakes being way too high to fail and a case of the Avatar being too powerful to be stopped, the Firelord was never the main enemy but rather Zero's sister is and ultimately it is Zuko who takes on the role as protagonist in the last book because of this.
Aang is a poorly written, linear character with no character growth happening except when he's learning how to control fire. All whilst Zuko is the real character folks are rooting for when we learn his backstory which we do as a viewer really early on.
Basically... The Last Airbender had a way, WAAAAAAAY too powerful main character that the series is interesting because of the supporting cast. But the only character who has a continual character growth through all of the books rather than one or two episodes for Katara, Toph or... Name's eluding me but Katara's brother, is Zuko.
Instead of focusing on the supporting cast, Korra actually faces loss, character growth, matures and have to learn to deal with real trauma.
No offense but... The Last Airbender was only good because of Zuko's uncertain fate and invested interest in his father. Korra deals with a lot more than just one character ark and does it just better, with the exception that Zuko's role becomes Korra's role.

@@ArgentumEmperio Personally, the whole love triangle bullshit ruined it for me. Legend of Korra also had way too many Deus Ex Machina moments. I absolutely agree with this. The old ones didn't shove the jokes in your face. Even a blatant one as "Springfield Heights Institute of Technology" made you at least work a little for it. "Sneed's Feed and Seed - Formerly Chuck's" is a masterpiece.

Don't feel guilty. My generation (I was 10 when I first saw them on The Tracey Ullman Show in 1987) has a different sense of humor than the kids now do. It's not wrong or bad, just not what we enjoyed.
I also think if he compared The Simpson's with other animated shows today I think he'd find a similar style of writing and jokes through them all.
We all have different tastes in humor and animation. I thought the signature bit was hilarious, myself. I mean, I worked with a guy who signed cards like that, so it hit home for me and made me laugh.
I don’t feel guilty but I like the humour in some of the newer episodes too, as jaime said, different kind of humour these days, this video personally, really annoyed me bc he clearly was not thinking about all that, I love jazza and everything but this one video I wish I didn’t watch 😅😅😅

I myself actually wasn’t really interested in TheSimpsons, there were a lot of other cartoons I loved.
I like the newer episodes better than the old ones, even though the stories are not as complex, the jokes are funnier. They've gotten less serious and more joke driven.

About the janky playback: yeah, it’s a conversion issue. They were done for old tube televisions, so people at home didn’t see those horrible in-betweens. It all got kinda mushy back then. You remember, right?
Now when you take the original and make it hd, you won’t waste any man hours just to clean up something that isn’t that important for everyone.

Spongebob was so funny back in the day, I probably feel that way since I was a child back then though, haven't really watched a lot of the older episodes that I used to watch as a kid again, but the few that I have are still good imo. This would be an awesome show to cover btw

They’re problem is the exact same as the simpsons. Too flat, too much Fucker with the character design, forcing bad jokes, no rubber to the face like he seems less human and more basic. He’s lost his character and there’s no more love in it. And I personally hate the new designs. Everybody looks awful

He's really nice and the animation we did (paper stop motion) is on UA-cam
And his story is amazing he from El Salvador and his journey to becoming an animator for the Simpsons is truly amazing

The 100+ people who liked my comment understood what I meant. I wasn’t referring to the animation quality and I don’t know why you would have thought that.
By saying ‘less is more’ as well as providing a little context in my initial comment, I was referencing how the Show Runners have produced endless seasons of the show when they should have ended it at 8 or 9 seasons when it was still reasonably good, because all seasons that came after are garbage. If you watch the entire video by Jazza then you’ll see why, the jokes aren’t funny.
I believe the show would have been appreciated ‘more’ if it had not been allowed to continue with endless subsequent seasons.
Anyway, I don’t really have time to communicate further with someone like yourself who feels the need to foolishly name call people simply because you don’t understand a simple UA-cam comment which a child could have easily interpreted, So I hope this clears it all up for you. 🤣

It wasn't just the animation that drastically changed with time, all the characters personalities have developed and changed.
I remember Seth Mcfarlane in the very beginning saying he would never want it to last as long as The Simpsons because it would just grow tired and tedious, but now the show is at its 17th or 18th season.
