Extraordinary! Nice horsemanship and forestry skills!
I'm sorry I didn't speak Swedish I think it's great to see the horses being used practically I have two heavy draft horses myself which are currently being trained for extraction of timber and why would love to bearable to earn a living and also deviltries my horses and work in the woods thanks for your video it's inspired me even more to try and succeed
Wow! Älskar ”fickparkeringen” i slutet av filmen 🐴
Great ! Very nice how You backed up.
Grymmt! Fina vinklar ni fick till där vid avlastningen.
Nice Horses
More sticks than logs!
Fin film om hur fint det går att bruka skogen, när andra värden än kronor och ören för stunden räknas. Jag tror att detta är framtiden! (Även ekonomiskt)
very strong horses
👍👍👍👍👍
Så skønt at se, håber det bliver bevaret
Awesome!!!
vaya cosa más preciosa de animales
bravo
Inspirující. Dobrá práce!
I agree, nice backing up. Nice loading/unloading, nice everything. Would be interested to know whether you bought or built your forwarder, did you retro-fit the crane? All your logs are nicely cut to length, are they going to a lumber mill or are they being turned into firewood?
super forwarder:)
hej! Jag tror dina hästar behöver jobba för hård. Dem går inte smidigt när vagnen är laddat såpass mycket. Dem kommer att ha förstörde senor.
What make and model of logging crane and cart are you using? Can you tell me the manufacturer? Seems like the perfect size. Do you have a logging arch that is attached to the cart or are the articulating wheels part of the cart you purchased? What kind of system have you used to attach the horses to the cart? As much detail as possible please, my business partner and I are looking to get into horse logging and it looks like you have a great system. Any details on the harnesses you could share? Thanks!

Why
wow, please what is machine that picks up the logs?
The machine that picks up the logs is a self loader run by the small engine in front part of the wagon
Hur många kilo kan dom dra?
Wouldn't it be cheaper with a tractor? That hay and food for those horses is probably more expensive than fuel.
Are you kidding? Hay is really cheap to grow and you can get tons of it for little money. And has fuel been cheap the last 20 years? No, and it's getting more and more expensive when less and less is found. Also, I bet there are environmental issues to take into consideration. Tractor tires eat through the ground and leave nasty ditches.
Lastly I think horses are just used for a special niche of work where there's no hurry or where there's wildlife that can be disturbed by tractors.

A single horse probably costs $50-70 a month in hay alone. Add grains to that and care, medicines, easily go over $100 a month.
Some say it adds 5-10% to the cost, but does not do so much damage to roots and top soil, as tires and chains. Can handle more rough terrain than tractor, and does not need as much space as a tractor and wagon. You dont need to cut down as many trees for the ways to get the timber out.
In Swedish forestry horses are often used in places with sensitive soil where big machines would ruin the ability for things to grow. And a while ago a survey concluded that there are more horses in Sweden then dairy cows (which would mean that horses are a fairly popular pastime there). Adding those two things together, if you keep horses for your free time because you like them why not have a good horse that can both work and play?
Those horses look like North Swedish Work Horses, a fairly small and very nimble breed that have been remarked as having an excellent pulling capability, a gentle and loyal character, strong legs, amazing health (considered immune against multiple common diseases in horses) and having an unusually long life where reaching the age of 30 is very common. They have been remarked as not needing a lot of food (by horse standards) and being able to do anything from working to western to dressage.
You also always get to work with a friend
