Padraig you have unlocked the science and mystique of the golf swing that others have made ridiculously confusing and have given us a brilliant straightforward blueprint to work with. Thankyou.

Paddy, i can't thank you enough for these golf lessons chief. As a complete beginner (about 10 rounds on the actual course with lots and lots of hours in the range), I just broke 100 and am having so much fun after nearly giving up completely. I'd read countless books, UA-cam videos, online lessons, bought all the training aids, spent hours and hours at the range locking wrists and swinging hips, literally hurting at trying to get the ball up in the air bla bla - only to be completely disheartened at watching the 2 auld guys in front of me on the course smack the ball 30 yards further than me with half the swing and mobility and not a care in the world. It led me to look for someone that cut the crap and would help me find that loose, enjoyable golf swing and sure enough I stumbled across your channel. Watched a few of your tip vids back to back, went to the range the next day and the swoosh and feel of that first iron hit, which went 50 yards further than i'd been able to hit before EFFORTLESSLY, was nothing short of cathartic.
I can't believe you can literally get free golf lessons from a hall of famer on here that turn you in to a great golfer who can hit well and have fun and you dont have a million subcribers. I'd subscribe 1000 times if I could.
God bless ya, thank you so much for helping me relax, enjoy and fall in love with this daft wee game - next time you're in Scotland am owe you a few drams for sure!

I am so grateful to have a champion like Padraig Harrington casually getting in front of a camera and riffing on the golf swing ...it's like we bumped into each other at the range or practice green.

Want to learn how to make a golf swing? LEARN FROM A TOURING PRO!!! All the other wannabees on UA-cam have no clue on how to actually play golf, they just watch lots of videos and think they know what is happening in the swing. Thank you Padraig for making this information available to us mere mortals!!!!

Everyone else is talking about dropping your arms, holding your right wrist, turning your hips, cover the ball with your chest, shift your weight, etc, when if you just add side bend on the down swing that stuff happens naturally if you have a decent swing.

26 years playing this game and one of my absolute favorites to watch play just solved something that has plagued me for years...my right shoulder move was subtle but given my swing speed yielded brutal results at times. So, THAT's how you clear your hips!!! 💡
... I've heard about the "start the lawnmower" motion
but this is the first time I've heard how to clear the hips on the downswing.
I've been trying to clear the hips forever, and now I'll just focus on shoulder turn.
    Thanks, Padraig

    Dear Paddy,
i first saw this instruction video 6 months ago. it was a break through in concept for me after years of struggling.
today i can regularly carry 160s with my 7i with good consistency and hold the green well; a huge improvement from 140s all over the fairway.
i am still working on the woods and following thru which proved to be very difficult as i am unable to keep in balance on the down swing. I lean forward too much.
Thank YOU sir for an invaluable lesson.

OK here goes. I am a decent golfer who shoot between mid 70’s to mid 80’s. My abilities were based mainly on compensations and eye hand coordination. I practiced these instructions for a week and a half and finally went on the course with my buddy today. Holy shit!! Is what my buddy said lol. I was on in regulation most holes and hit a couple 195 yards and 175 yards approach shots smack on the green!. My friend asked “what the heck did you do to strike the ball this well”? Lol. And I could always drive the ball better than average, however now I’m getting an extra pop and more hang time, but with distance. Sir your tips helped me so so much and I thank you sincerely. To my fellow average golfers this is what I did. I used Paddy’s grip tip which gave me more club face control, then I followed his shoulder turn instruction to the letter. That hip angle on the backswing is of utmost importance, because once there, your hips will clear NATURALLY on the down swing. I’m still working on a few other of the tips and hopefully will give a follow up when I get them into my system. Hit em straight everyone and be well.

Your comparison to starting a lawn mower is spot on. So - all I can say is thanks - for actually explaining things in the context of swinging a club and sending a ball down the paddock! Context for me explains how all parts of our body work in a swing not just “Shoulders rescue slice” “hips to hit” … there are heaps of lessons talking about single moves but Padraig really shares his experience of real gold at all levels - just love it!!!
Still waiting for the “OMG Marc - that was just shite!!!”

Such an awesome explanation. I have been struggling with my rotation and early extension. After years of lessons and watching videos online this is a game changer. By getting more side bend it makes it much easier for me to transition to my left side and get my body open at impact. Most of the downswing just seems to happen more naturally without thinking about 20 different things. I am hitting it much more consistently now.

Genius! Seriously. So well presented. I used to use the pulling motion and completely got away from it by twisting my hip to the left(I’m RH). Can’t wait to get back out and do this move. 👍👍

Great video thanks Paddy. Explaining the feel makes it so much easier to understand.
