Up, for no good reason, at 0400 this morning. Chores now completed and coffee being enjoyed. Life really is good and I am profoundly grateful. See you around 0800.
I've watched nearly a half dozen of these Manbily shooting/ camera tripod reviews on YT and your's is by far the most thorough. Giving the viewer a truly unbiased opinion with valuable information on the actual product and the uses it offers or doesn't, definitely helps people like me who aren't necessarily able to drop $500+ on a name brand shooting accessory. Thanks for sharing!
It looks like the upper "shelf" area of the mounting system, above the triangular grooves for the 1913 rail, has extra, wider triangular grooves, and is designed for supporting an ARCA rail mounting option.
How ironic you post this now. I've been looking for a nice tripod that won't bust the bank. There's so much to choose from out there, it's confusuing for an old timer like me. :) HR, you really covered everything very well in this review. I appreciate that. Thanks for sharing. PS, the winds at our range are like this 90% of the time. Makes shooting 22 at distance a lot more challenging, but interesting at the same time.
Thanks for taking us along as you try out this tripod. It is always interesting to get to watch and listen to a professional. It appears that it does improve your shooting from some uncomfortable and unsteady shooting positions.
This video was much more than I expected from the thumbnail. To be honest, I was a little hesitant to watch it when I first came to the computer this morning because of the 40 minute length. I also wasn't much interested in tripods. Having watched it, I now have saved a link to the manufacturer's web site and spent a few moments browsing their wares. I could use a better tripod for my spotting scope and Manbily seems to offer several options. So I am happy to say I have watched and enjoyed this video and even learned a thing or three about using a tripod that would never have occurred to me otherwise. Thanks!
It seems like a very well made product and well thought out. While a tripod is not in my must have wish list I did enjoy the vidio and look forward to more of this type in the future...
This looks like a VERY well thought through, designed and manufactured tripod (the quality is evident and the detailed features indicate a lot of attention). I don’t know enough about tripods - nor do I have much experience with them - to evaluate whether the design is ideal for all applications (such as hunting). Regarding Mil-Std 1913 attachment to the tripod, I have purchased a small Picatinny rail section that locks into standard sling swivels studs (I used this to mount a weapons light to the forward stock of my Ruger Gunsite Scout rifle). Therefore, it seems possible that the same Pic Rail section might permit weapon-attachment to this Mambily tripod, without the necessity to buy another Mambily accessory.
Seems to be a decent-ish option. The ball head seems workable though less desirable than a squeeze lock Manfrotto ball head. Seems most offerings run off the Hog Saddle design.
In my reviews of Manbily, I did show the use of the saddle, but the Arca or the Picatinny direct attachment is more secure for the rifles that are so equipped. I did not do any prone, ground sitting or kneeling positions. However I found the best height micro adjustment are from the 3 position locking tabs that you did point out in the beginning of your review. Your review was great though and very thorough indeed.
I wonder how this would work on a slopped roof…In light of recent events, this setup may be just the ticket for that type of deployment. I doubt it was made for quick deployment for hunting. They seem to have another market in mind. I’ve found the “stick” type of shooting by-tripods work best for that. There is a hand activated trigger device on the ones I use and it gives you a field expedient rest anywhere…like where there aren’t any….and, this tripod ain’t that. Snipers roost or hunting blind with limited field of vision and game approach. Perfect for that. In my opinion.
That’s my impression too. I think it would work well on a sloped/peaked roof since the length of the legs can all be adjusted independently. It would just take some time to get everything just right.
Since there’s only one “L” in the last half of the name I don’t think it’s pronounced that way. I could be wrong, though. As I said in the video, I’ve never heard anyone affiliated with the company pronounce the name.
@@hrfunk I think the center leg is an advantage compared to the one you have (as you’ve mentioned in this video) …. Haven’t used it on the range yet so we shall see 👍

I plan to order one. Did you buy it? I’d love to hear your thoughts on it, mate

You are correct. That’s also the surface that holds the photo adapter.
Excellent presentation! Very thoughtful examination of possible employment.
Thank you!

It looks like the tripod the Secret Service countersniper team used.
I haven’t looked at any of the photos to see if I can identify the ones they are using.
Great review HR. I like your objectivity in your reviews. Perhaps the manufacturer will incorporate your suggestions for improvements. All the best!

You are most welcome. I was concerned about the length of this video, but I did not want to cut out any information that I thought might be important.
Good evening, HRFUNK and family. 😎🇺🇸🍻. Looks like an ok tri-pod. I like the knuckle/ball swivel on it and center counter weight
I prefer Martian Tripods for their stability and firepower.

Nice review! It looks pretty versatile. Looks like you had a high wind value to consider, too. 👍👍
Yep. That wind was crazy.
the hook is also used for a plumb bob to set an instrument such as a transit on a specific point
Good color match !

Your face looked familiar and I couldn’t figure out why, until I remembered the character Chip Hazard from the movie Small Soldiers!
