  • my poor Nezumi is having an asthma attack and being treated with the Aerokat inhaler and flixotide 250 mcg asthma aerosol. 2 weeks after starting this treatment, she completely stopped having asthma attacks. it wasn't difficult to get her used to Aerokat and she loves it and always purrs with the mask on. we are so glad we found out about the inhaler treatment, which is much safer than lifelong steroid pills.
    UPDATE: unfortunately it didn´t really work out in the long run. she lost all her hair around her nose from the inhaler and got demodex mites. her nose was completely bald. I had to stop using the inhaler and put her back on steroid pills.

      @@imassage619 her heart failed, she had severe heart arrythmia and was suddenly fainting constantly. the vet clinic could not save her. she had to be relieved of her suffering. My cat also has asthma and I use the Aerokat inhaler. The trick is to get the cat used to it....slowly...a few seconds at a time, then build up to 10 seconds, twenty seconds etc. Don't ever restrain your cat whilst doing this, just hold them and pat their head exactly as shown in this excellent video. Food rewards and praise after every puff really do work wonders!! They will get used to it if you're patient, gentle, encouraging...and reward them!!

      Christine Campbell Thanks for the encouragement. My Gracie is NOT loving this so far. She also has pneumonia and is bothered with oral antibiotics twice a day for that too and she is having a lot of sinus drainage. I'm sure that doesn't help plus the fact that she is not into eating treats like she was before she got sick. So treats as a reward does not work at this time. :(

    She's so calm! I had no idea kitties could get asthma. I had been trying to communicate with my vet for a while to see what is wrong with my poor baby and I am going to go to him with this. I had been thinking she was coughing so I probably wasn't explaining to my vet right what was going on.

    Thank you great video, very helpful! I'll find out tomorrow if my big guy Jack has asthma. I can only pray, Jack will behave a fraction of the way your beautiful kitty did in video! Lol BTW, I swear I heard you cat starting to purr around middle of it's treatment! I'll be lucky if I still have both eyes after a treatment if he'll be needing them! Lol Jacks a rescue, very sweet but doesn't like to be messed with! He was abused bf I found him. He's come a long way with trust but has "issues"

    My cat has been having this persistent cough the past few months. Very much like in the video. I did research and I really think he might be asthmatic. However I just know he would detest this sort of treatment. He's not very submissive and he's sort of a do what I feel like cat. He'd hate it. What are some tips to get him introduced to the inhaler?? I get the whole treat reward thing but how do I get him to not scratch and run away to begin with?

      Yes, my cat, Pearl, a Devon Rex, has bad asthma, but the breeder separated her from her mother too early (had her alone in a cage as a small kitten) and now, though she is loving, she is very jumpy and sensitive - she is traumatized by drops in her ears, totally flips out at the vet, nice as he is, and food or treats are no reward for her. She goes into a deep depression if I leave her with someone else for two or three nights. She really needs this- but I'm afraid if I use it on her she'll permanently move under the bed. It would not work not to restrain her - she'd be gone. I don't know what to do.

    My cat Annikah has been diagnosed with feline asthma. I need to train her to the Aerokat to take her medicine and hope she will get use to it. I have the chamber and am wondering how the cat gets any air with it over their face. I can't see where more air would come in as they breathe. Also my kitty is not food motivated so I hope lots of sweet talk and petting will help.

She isn't thrilled with it but she is calm and doesn't resist too much. She is an elderly kitty 17 yrs with a heart condition so I had to be ultra careful with her. For awhile I feared I wouldn't be successful but with small steps and lots of patience we made it! Thanks so much for asking.

      @jewelmarkess 4 роки тому +1

      You don't have to buy the inhaler in the US. Plenty of Canadian pharmacies around. Hardly any pet owner who has a cat with asthma buys in the US. Look at feline asthma groups on yahoo or groups.io.

    Sweet kitty. We are using steroids with limited success... wondering if this is a better long term solution/treatment...

    • @jewelmarkess
      @jewelmarkess 4 роки тому +1

      It is because it doesn't have the same side effects and risks as steroids. It doesn't make them hungry either. My cat used to be treated with short courses of prednisolone, but now I switched to inhaler. He is not particularly cooperative, but overall, it's not terribly difficult. I am giving him 110 mcg, one puff twice a day. He doesn't cough at all now. The only issue is price, but I get my inhaler in Canada.

    SO expensive and impossible to administer to a feral-born-but-domesticated, wiley cat. The pills they had him on prior were only $15 and SO MUCH EASIER TO GIVE HIM. But no, they for whatever reason made me drop $280 on an Aerokat + 1 INHALER. ONLY ONE!!! SO EXPENSIVE. The pills worked GREAT and I dont see why he couldnt stay on them other than they wanted to r*pe my wallet. Here he goes with the 5th asthma attack today.

    • @unhombrelobo
      @unhombrelobo 7 років тому +1

      5th asthma attack today because you failed toget him an AeroKat. They're $70 something bucks on amazon. Where the hell are you getting 280 from?

    • @Sheilaalien
      @Sheilaalien 7 років тому

      I got him the aerokat - it's the inhaler medicine that costs a lot. Which I also got for him. AND DOESN'T WORK. Which was my point.
      I now have the $15 pills again but it's not a long-term solution - according to the vet it can cause liver damage. So next we'll have to up the dosage of the inhaler.
      I just dont see how administering an inhaler daily is supposed to help. Humans use inhalers DURING an asthma attack, but as far as I know they don't use it as a preventative measure to control future asthma attacks.

    • @jakemachine2686

      Sheilaaliens take care of your cat. the inhalers work instantly and need to be used 2x per day. the medicine is around $70.
      why bother having animals if you refuse to care for them when they are sick?
      Plus, since you are not a veterinarian and you lack basic common sense and thought, if you question the validity watch the 100's of video showing the medicine working
