- Detailed setup of the Monport 40W CO2 laser. If you are experienced in setting up lasers, you will find this pace too slow and detailed.
There will be many more videos on this laser to follow including many modifications that I intend to make.
Disclosure:
The laser only was provided to me by Monport to demonstrate. All other items that will be used, including the chiller, were purchased by me. All points, good, bad, or ugly, will be shown. My tests and reviews are unbiased.

Hello, I've had a K40 since 2011 and I'm satisfied. Only changed the laser tube once. greetings from Solingen/Germany Harry👍🤟
that's Hamms in that Red koozie cool video thank you
Wonderful videos as always brother.
Great video!! Thanks for the video!! The wire will be upgraded in our next version. And it will not effect the machine if it is not hot glued.
Hello,
I received the laser yesterday and I was trying to run a test and that tiny display near the yellow test button says laser signal is off. What can be the problem? What do I have to do do switch it back on to run a test?
Please let me know
Thank you
I have enjoyed your videos about the Monport. I’m struggling with the mA dial and what it should be reading on the screen and does light burn have any effect on the mA setting or is power completely controlled by the mA dial?
When using Lightburn, the software control the power level.
hello everyone. I have a problem with my Monport 40w. When I send the job, the laser does not fire and since I turn it on, laser signal off appears. When I press the test button it barely marks the wood. Does anyone know what this is due to? I must clarify that the machine is new
Can this monoport be upgraded from 8x12 to 12x20 and does the chilli and can it get 360 camera
Not really.
Hi Roger!
Love all of your videos!
I have a question about laser cutting polyester fabric in your Monport, have you tested any fabrics yet?
Not on this as the work area is small. I cut Sunbrella on a diode laser where i have a larger work area.
What I want to cut is in an 8” x 8” envelop. A friend tried to cut this fabric with a 40w/diode and it really struggled. (I believe Sunbrella is more polypropylene than polyester if that matters).
Would you be willing to cut a few straight lines in a couple fabric samples if I sent them to you?
I have polyester fabric that we use for sublimation, garden flags, etc. So could try a piece on a laser. If I need to cut intricate shapes, I use my Cricut. I imagine that a laser is going to leave black edges.@@joostvles8162
@@rogersshop I actually want the edges to “fuse” as a way of preventing the fabric from fraying. Thanks to your earlier videos, I too sublimate the fabric and then those edges are on the inside of my product. The fabric I use is used in the upholstery industry so it’s pretty heavy duty. Before I follow in your footsteps again (this time with a laser) I am looking for a little more assurance that my hare brained idea could actually work. lol.
For upholstery polyester fabric, I use a hot knife (From Sailrite) to seal those cut edges and it does not leave a black edge like a laser will, but I will give it a test. @@joostvles8162
Nice! Do you think that the bed size is a little small?
I would really like to get a CO2 laser, I currently have the Xtool D1 pro.
Thanks
Depends on intended use. I will be using this primarily for cutting 2 mm-6 mm plywood for the layered items we make. I have two of the xTool D1 lasers are use one of them just for cutting. The other one used for both cutting and rotary work.
@@rogersshop I’m curious to see in a month our two if the size really bothers you. I find the price really interesting on this laser.
Thanks
@@bidbudy6061 The cutting area size can be increased.
