Very Cool idea! Another lady uses plastic water bottles to fill in the space. 👍😁 That's great! I've never thought of using strofoam implant dishes to fill in the space😉
Hi Melissa, thank you for your comment. That bush with the purple flowers is a Tibouchina. They are native to the mexico/South America region and in the right climate are very easy to grow. I hope this helps 😄
Welcome to gardening. I hope it will give you a lifetime of pleasure. Mulch has multiple purposes. Some of these include - reducing water loss by evaporation, minimising the growth of weeds and also purely aesthetic purposes. For me, the most important is the reduction of water loss. I hope this is helpful, and happy gardening :)
Unfortunately overwatering can result in killing the roots. Once they are gone, there is no saving the plant. Having said that, re-pot the plant in fresh soil - maybe it’s not as bad as you think 🤔

You are very welcome. I am glad you found them useful 😄
we did the same with base of our pots but put weed mat or textile fabric (from bunnings) on top of pots & gravel to keep soil separate.
Very Cool idea!

I use styrofoam for this. Lightweight and works like perlite
A good solution! I have also done the same 😊. Thanks for contributing.
Thank you for this 😊

Happy gardening 🌱🌱🌱
An idea just came to my mind: You may consider separating the gravel / pebbles and the potting soil with a sheet of landscape fabric.
That is a good idea Marc. It would certainly stop and soil from working its way down through the pebbles. Thank you.
I'm new to gardening; what is the purpose to using mulch on top?

What is the plant in the pot in the begining?
It is a very happy and healthy Peace Lily. You will find some general information about them here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spathiphyllum

Sure there are geranios in other planets. They are so beautiful.
I have a glazed pot with no drainage. I think I may have almost killed mine by over watering. Can I still save it?
