New gardener here, wow I am shocked at how many plants people cram into a pot. I was only putting like geraniums into a huge pot....Never dreamed I could pack all these into one pot? I AM LEARNING A LOT. Beautiful work, and such a great video- THANK YOU!
As a absolute beginner of container garden, I've watched at least a dozen videos on how to start a container garden, and this one is by far the most comprehensive and easy! I just love how Katherine explained everything, so clear and simple. "A thriller, a filler and a spiller", brilliant!
I learned something about the cordyline 😊I have two container that I brought in thus winter. The cordyline is so large I am glad to know that I can cut the lower leaves off. I wax worried I might kill it if I did.
Great. I loved the way you explained as you demonstrated the planting. It would be good for you to do another video after a few months to see how the plants are growing. Excellent. Thanks
I have done the thriller, filler, and spiller for years BUT have never heard it called this...I love it! I live in a cold winter climate...watching your video makes me anxious for warmer weather for I can start planting my flower pots. Thank you for a nice video...loved your post of beauty.
Great tutorial! I will try my best to follow this for my front porch planter. I am not a gardener and I can’t grow plants (lol) but this is such a helpful tutorial for me. :)
Thanks for this. Totally timely for me, 6 years later 😁! I'm partway through terracing the space below my front window & am beginning to add pots. What a brilliant punchline to remember - thriller, filler, spiller. Now I have visions of flower & foliage cascades 🥰 Now to not break the bank!
I bought a book a few years ago about 'thrillers, fillers and spillers', showing all of the combinations you can do and it's fun to just use your imagination with the different plants and colors. Ornamental grasses are beautiful as thrillers too! I subscribed because you English people have such lovely gardens!
@@brendaclark3234 Hey Brenda. I''ve got all of my books boxed up right now, painting the living room, but I'll keep your name. Actually, now that I think, it is a magazine that I got at a local Home Depot store from several years ago. It basically had the same thing as these great videos.
Omg so darn beautiful girl ! You know how to do this ! Thank you for the amazing video I am a producer and these people don’t know just how hard it is to do a instructional how to video excellent job !!!! and going through point by point and play by plant and you included very tight and succinct information . Bravo and the American accent ... genius .
Got a good tip take plants out of pots , arrange empty pots in container fill around the pots press down soil an a slight twist pot , pot comes out an plant goes in 1 at a time very easy , 5 plants enough giving each plant enough root growth room
I love your work! You are an artist and inspiration for me. You help me to make my little garden beautifull. Thank you so much!!! I'm Hannah from Jerusalem
Great video. I do this in 5 contai ers every year but you can always learn. Beautiful combination ironic i am going shopping for plants to start this wkend. Spring hss finally arrived for me. I love u dont wear gloves. I don't either i have to have hands in the dirt.

Thanks, from a novice gardener, who's desperate to get some plants into her new, but totally bare (I'm not kidding, a lawn, fencing/wall and lovely paved area, and that's IT!!) new garden x
Not her original thought. That idea came from Proven Winners grower in USA. always thought a great way to explain the recipe for container combo pots..
Great video, I dont know if container gardens are a new concept but I like Katherine she doesnt beat around the bush. Good tips too. Its pretty simple like she says, just dont overwater and when the plants outgrow you might want to think about replanting but gardens like these last longer than you think : )
Thanks for showing how to insert the plants! It was really nice to see different types of fertilizers! You are awesome! By the way, I'm in the US....and we love you guys!
Gorgeous..great explanations and recommendations..now I know hw to keep them going when the super dry hot days arrive..that's when mine tend to get scraggly
I love your "American" accent!!! 👍 I do a lot of containers and do the thriller, filler and spiller method too. Love your show! Very fun and informative. I garden in Richmond, VS USA. Thank you for sharing! 💕
It’s also helpful to soak the small pots for a minute or 2 prior to repotting -then u don’t have to pull apart any roots and air bubbles get released👍🏼
Looking beautiful 😊. I am a complete beginner and have very little space to grow. I will definitely try and hope that my container garden will be as beautiful as yours .I live in Canada and cannot wait for spring to arrive. How early would I be able to plant a container garden 🤔
