  • So we start with a visit to the JFK ANA Business Class lounge, prior to a flight on ANA's "THE ROOM" which is a Boeing 777-300 Business Class cabin taking me from JFK to Haneda airport. The Room was definitely comfortable for the 13 hour flight time. I watched Star Wars movies and opted for Japanese meals along with their best Sake.
Then we had a 6 HOUR layover in Narita. I immediately settled into the lounge, used the toilet and then took a nice refreshing shower. They gave you every amenity possible and the shower experience was fantastic. You could argue it was a step above Emirates' shower spa. Then I had some of their food and drinks. Honestly, Japanese cuisine doesn't excite me as much as Chinese, but it was passable. The Fried Chicken and french fries was the best.
Next I had to take a 7 hour flight from Narita to Jakarta on ANA's 787 Dreamliner. I definitely didn't like this plane as much as the 777-300. The Dreamliner's business class seats in the 2x2x2 configuration feel like they are precision engineered to be uncomfortable despite promising comfort. You don't have individual access to the aisle for one. The armrests are too low for taller passengers and the hard, immovable privacy walls lock you in. I stretched the seat out to lay flat. There's a lot of leg room, but the seat itself is still uncomfortable for me. This makes me apprehensive about using Air Tahiti Nui to fly to Bora Bora because the 787 is their plane of choice.
We landed in Jakarta and I had to buy a $35 Visa. I also had to spend $25 to go from the international terminal to the domestic terminal. I'm fairly certain there is a light rail that does this for free, but the taxi drivers are quick to get your money and this was my first visit. I spent close to 3 hours in the Jakarta lounge for Air Garuda's Business Class. The shower this time was very basic with very basic amenities but it got the job done of refreshing me for the next flight: 2 hours from Jakarta to Bali Denpasar.
Once we arrived in Bali, I took a taxi to my Hotel, EPISODE KUTA. It's got a lovely building, a great pool, a great restaurant, it's located directly next to a full-sized mall with a Hypermarket and there are a handful of mini-marts nearby. Oddly, there's very few actual restaurants in the area outside the mall and almost nothing open late. Plenty of women to see in the mall, but they all disappear off the street at night - unlike in Philippines or Thailand. Gonna look for the shopping district so I can have some Tuxedoes made. Visit the beach when I feel like it. Go on some tours with my friends eventually.
