Just purchased GA5 and was getting quite frustrated at navigating the Acoustic Agent. Your overview is a huge help and the tips you provide are so valuable in perusing this instrument. Your efforts in creating these videos is much appreciated.
Happy New Year Anthony. thanks for these great tutorials about GA5. I am studying these the last two days. Would you mind sharing your excel and drum mappings so i have a great starting point?
Hi Anthony, thanks for the great tutorial! I have a question and hope you can help me with this: I saw you changing from a track that had the solo-button tot the next track (to compare the sounds) and without clicking on the solo-button the next track automaticly is in solo and the first track is on mute. When I click on the next button I have to first mute the track before and solo the next track. How can I do it the way I saw you doing in the video? Thanks and greetings from Harald (Holland)
Excellent video, Anthony. It's been niggling me for a long time that there's no easy way to open up the full potential of the different styles across kits - this really should be a lot simpler in GA in my opinion, although you can kind of see why it would be difficult to implement
Thanks for your great videos! I have a problem when I pick the pad up to the secuencer, there are some notes written on the keys that actually activates the pads, so if I want to listen the pattern playing the secuencer of Cubase, I have to turn off every sinlge pads manually, other wise the rythm written on the secuencer is "contaminated" by the pad . Is there another way to deactivate the pad of the agent? It is very impractical if We want to hear the diferent drum sets.
Yes, use the dedicated MIDI ports for Patterns and Instruments (there's an option called "Use Pattern MIDI Port for Pattern Pads" in the Pattern Group Page). I discuss it in my main Groove Agent series, but the answer (in typical Groove Agent fashion) is long-winded. Episodes 2 & 4 are probably the most useful for you: ua-cam.com/play/PL3P42Av427hwyh0YS1hxLvitPMGr_T5bo.html
There are quite a few. One of the main ones (for me) is the ability to export entire Acoustic Agent kits, with all their settings, into the Cubase mixer. It's quite something. The full interface also has the Percussion Kit, which is a very different module. Here's a list from the Steinberg site: www.steinberg.net/vst-instruments/groove-agent/compare-editions/
Oh, great! I didn't know. Well, then, just scan down the comparison list and see what you think you'll miss. I don't like encouraging people to spend money on upgrades so don't want to wax too rhapsodic about the full version

That's awesome to hear, thanks very much for the feedback :)
This makes so much sense now. The ga5 full UI was confusing me until I watched this
I'm glad to have helped :) Thanks for the feedback!
It's not the most straightforward drum plugin. Could use an overhaul to meet current-day requirements in terms of UI and UX design.
What a great video! Thank you. I have Groove Agent SE 5 which came with Cubase 11 Pro. Trying to figure out if I should get the full version.
Thank you! I got my full version as part of the "Absolute" bundle. I was lucky enough to grab it in a sale, and thought it was excellent value.
Excellent, Thank you, Anthony.
My pleasure!

Thanks for the feedback! There's a "Solo Follows Focus" option in the Preferences\Editing screen that will do the trick.
@@OneManAndHisSongs That's really great, thank you very much!! (In Cubase it's called Enable Solo on Selected Track)
@6'10'' I have been looking for a way to move through the kits, thanks for the tip
No problem 👍

I've achieved some sort of state of serenity when it comes to the GA interface - too much of an emotional burden otherwise :)
Very helpful. Thanks.
You're welcome!

@@OneManAndHisSongs Thank you for answer, I will check your other videos!! Great job !!
THANK YOU

Thanks, very interesting. What are the main differences between GA 5 and GA SE 5? The number of Kits and patterns?

@@OneManAndHisSongs are you talking about this option: Export Mixer and FX to Cubase? It also is in GA SE.

Great info
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Any recommendation for good GA expansion kits?
My favourite Acoustic Kits are Songwriters and Simon Phillips Studio.
How do you get the track to mute, just by selecting the track? (not hitting the mute/solo buttons). At 08:50 min.
That's a feature of Solo in Cubase. It follows along with each selected track. The options are in your preferences: Editing\Project & Mix Console.
Which is your favorite expansions?
"The Kit" and "Simon Phillips Studio Drums" are my two main go-to's, but I do try to mix it up regularly and choose one of the others.
@@OneManAndHisSongs thanks 😊
Excelente
Thank you :)
Hopefully Steinberg give us users an easy way to preview different kits and grooves. As it stands. It’s dreadful.
