A Maschine controller playing Groove Agent playing Maschine samples. Gotta love it! - Great video - also on a philosophical level - encouraging the use of open formats (in this case unencrypted wav files) and encouraging music makers to create their own personalized workflows, which hopefully will lead to more interesting music.

Cubase´s onstock Groove Agent SE is one of my favorite drum sampler - you don´t need thirdparty stuff for this task. Great times. Perfect video as always, Jef ! ❤

I would hope in Maschine's next iteration they incorporate some of Groove Agents and FXpansion Geist 2 editing tools and capabilities. I would love a round robin feature in Maschine. Decision paralysis keeps me from using Groove Agent to it's fullest potential and Geist 2 feels like abandonware at this point.

They really are great sources of loops and hits. I’m often shocked by how bad other sample packs are out there!
@@jefgibbons Your video sent me back to one I remember that @AveMcree made on KitMaker and it totally escaped me that their software exports to more DAWs than the MPC and I had no clue of the iOS apps that can exported to. 🤯🤯🤯🤯
You guys have totally refreshed my entire catalog and concept of expansions! I had been wanting NI to continually update their iOS app iMaschine when it is not needed while Beatmaker and NanoStudio have gone unused beyond the original sounds! Thanks to both of you and these bridges and different uses should be rewarded with new and ongoing collaborations!
@@RoneySmithseedoflife That's great! Yeah, we all have tons of great samples on our drives, it's good to dig through them instead of always looking for new ones. Try Crate Cuts if you like Rare Vibrations, that might be the one you're talking about. Ave is great!

As always Jef, your video is a goldmine of knowledge. Thanks! There are different ways to achieve that kind of results now that I think of it, some of them allowing you to keep the insert FX. First, you have the autosampler and this little gizmo app called Kit Maker that could do the heavy lifting for you if you want to create kits that keep the insert FX written to the audio samples. It's also possible to use Groove agent as a MIDI controller with its MIDI output being routed to a Maschine VSTi track or rack instance, or even to Maschine in standalone mode outside Cubase using the IAC MIDI bridge on MacOS. The latter method, if you use MIDI sync, has almost all the advantages of Maschine standalone mode with additionnal MIDI features being provided by Cubase and Groove Agent. The only problem is that Maschine MIDI routing is quite complex and not explained very well in the documentation, you could struggle a little bit before finding the right MIDI settings in Maschine.

This!!! I have bought several dozen Maschine expansions over time, and really like the quality of samples and midi grooves in many of them. But as Cubase user, since some years I MUCH prefer the functional power and flexibility of Beat Agent (in Groove Agent 5) over using Maschine or Battery, by a lot, using Kit maker for sample transfer, and even translating my favorite Maschine Midi Grooves to GA5. My beat making workflow has dramatically improved from that GA5 decision. So I am really glad you made this video, and as always, you did it really well! 👍Thanks! It would be great, if you would do a separate video for importing Maschine midi into GA5 - which can well be done, but is a bit less trivial than I wished it were.

Groove Agent often crashes my whole DAW (C12). Battery 4 is not optimized for M1 and has a bug that causes it to ask you for the sample folder upon loading your cubase project and it hasn't been fixed in a year (!). Seriously out of Drum sample players at the moment

Why always this Cubase content? Who does even use this in 2023? Why not make videos about DAWs that people actually use. Like Logic or Ableton?
