Burglars break in during the day. Home invaders break in at night. If they come in while you’re there, they’re prepared to harm you. At that point, you’re not protecting your stuff. Your protecting life.

Yes yes and yes. I sent this video to a couple people. All valid points. I bought a house last year and my realtor thought I was a little crazy. I wanted doors that opened out, no glass and an open floor plan. We went from a very small 2 bedroom to a 4 bedroom. As we toured the homes I would talk about talk about home invasion plans. I would measure with my laser how far shots would be from the master to the front and back doors etc. He finally asked why I was focused on that. Because these 4 people behind me are my responsibility. He text me a few months after we closed and said he bought his first gun after thinking about what I told him

Regarding the topic being discussed at 14:48, that's a non-starter with me. When the perpetrator invades your home and you confront them, you as the homeowner won't have any idea what their true motives are and, in my opinion, can't be expected to bet your life or the lives of your family members on the chance that they're only after your 80" flat screen TV.

I truly appreciate this video, especially from a police officer. Why? Because my wife rolls her eye's everytime I go to the gun range 2x weekly and grumbles when I buy ammo, as a waste of money! She also thinks I making my 14-year-old son go to marksman class weekly and learn how to safely use all our weapons is ridiculous.
She truly believes a HOME INVASION will never happen to us in our quiet neighborhood. I'm gonna show her this video and help her understand why I go to the range, attend CCW self-defense training courses because I get better each time, and also realize I'm not good enough each time and can't afford to be mediocre in a real life scenario. Much appreciated and hope it helps her. If not, oh well, I still have to do my duty, regardless of what she thinks, because it'll be up to me if that fateful event ever happens.

Hey good on you for training. My background I lived in the getto and then abroad in dangerous areas for more than 25 yrs of my life. When I moved to my current residence it’s very safe I was told. So I didn’t do extra security other than the normal locks on doors and windows. Well in this very safe neighborhood that I lived in for less than I year got robbed in broad daylight, neighbors heard the sound of my door getting kicked in nobody even investigated sadly. Or my open door. They didn’t even notice it was a different car parked where I never park. I came home 30 minutes after it happened. All the officers that responded this never happens here well it did and it happened to me but no fun when you are the stat. Upgraded my front door, maintain locked gates and put up cameras. Have an alarm on doors also. Upgraded some of my guns and practice. Have a much better plan and my house is much less inviting know.

Oh boy I got a feeling this is gonna give some hard truths like the preppers video did.. slow down let me get the popcorn ready 😀
You kinda skipped over this.. ok now you gettinto it as item 8 so I digress.. your plan can’t be your plan.. the entire family has to be part of any plan.. you have to practice it together like a fire alarm drill in your kids school..
We purposely bought the house we did cause every access point funnels through the same area and it’s split bedroom and they must get through us first..
One last thing you maybe will address but haven’t yet.. dogs! Dogs are not protectors they are your first warning alarm if you don’t over train them to not bark..
Keep a quick deployable belt with a simple itw buckle.. so when naked or in undies you can grab a quick access item that has a holster, couple mags and medical.. in home defense distances you’ll be most likely hands on at some point and your elastic waste band isn’t gonna retain shit at that point.. and no you don’t have time to put in a plate carrier or chest rig that is a fantasy.. a belt is about the best you might be able to grab if it’s a simple snap buckle..
Cameras are not a deterrent a quick search you’ll find thousands of home envisions caught on home cameras.. invest in perimeter lighting.. high power motion activated lights and preferably lights you can flip a switch and turn them all on at once or if one detects motion they all turn on.. your neighbors will hate you but it works. Infact I have so much lighting I have both.. I have secondary lights I can activate with a simple push button on top of all the regular motion lights turning on upon any of them being activated.. some I have purposely positioned into bedroom windows or neighbors houses to alert them and I’ve talked to all them at the same time. If that happens they know shtf at my house..
Easier for me I got ex fed across the street.. k9 deputy immodestly next door and fish and wildlife 2 doors down the other way.. we all have lighting and cameras and have communicated our plans to each other..
Your egress and rally point doesn’t mean shit if there isn’t someone there who is able, willing capable and understanding of the situation..
Our entire street knows if that second line of lights comes on then it’s bad..
a safe on the other side of the home does nothing for you.. I have an actual gear locker next to my night stand.. it remains open when I’m home and locked when I’m not.. it’s not grab a pistol from the nightstand drawer for us.. it’s wife hits the secondary lighting button tied to our security system.. i grab the rifle off the door of the locker and then the belt next to it with 1 rifle mag, medical, 2 pistol mags and a holster with a pistol in it.. simple one click and done fitted to me wo cloths on.. with dogs I’ll have the time to do this.. wo dogs it’s just s grab and go.. and no your 60lb lab that doesn’t bark at the mail man isn’t going to suddenly turn into a mastiff the second someone is in your house.. he/she is going to hide under your bed never barking or doing shit.. stop pacifying your dogs people! They bark for a reason don’t discourage that.. they are you first alert system..
My dogs bark we are up and ready.. we release them into the back yard and the house immediately.. she stand by the button to activate the secondary lights and I’m already belted and moving to the dogs focus point..
She has a pistol in her top drawer to grab after she hit the lighting if needed..
My kids have 3a panels in the laptop sleeve of their backpacks and they know to grab those place them in-front of them and sit in a corner of the room till mom gets there. In all reality they would likely sleep through most of it lol… but those doors are also locked at night as well.. any and all possible obstacles placed between them and any intruder.. one of the dogs sleeps outside their rooms on the floor..
Don’t over domesticate your dogs. They can be family let’s and still do their job.. there is a reason most police k9 are single or the dog is placed in a pen outside of the home. Some departments now advocate socializing them but for the most part they are tools not pets.. if you have a pet they are not a tool.. they can still be a family member.. ours are.. but they are tools first.. I’ve even had to choke one out cause he was so protective of the kids I couldn’t even play with them and he got aggressive with me.. dogs are tolls that are part of the family not family pets..

Dogs are the best early warning ever. I have cops all around me and we all get alerted

I came across your video about ammo and I watched to attempt to learn as I have for many decades. Your pretty good you had me for about ten minutes and that is hard to do. One thing I already knew was there is a fine line between genius and psycho. I did learn you know just enough to be dangerous. I can say this because of the fact that I kept watching to see if you tripped up and of course you did. Run your con for real on people you can make money at least for a while.

The only way to get to where I sleep is the top level of my house up a narrow staircase lol.
