Hey guys, it's been 4 years since I made this video. The PSP Store has changed a lot since then, and my video is largely outdated. Thankfully in 2022 @lusid1games made a video for using the PlayStation Store on PSP that is much more up to date and currently still works. I'd suggest going and watching his video over mine. ua-cam.com/video/H_GDD2tcwGE/v-deo.htmlsi=0pQrrhzbt0i-vGGG
thanks and yes to my knowledge however, i've heard back from a lot of people saying they're having a hard time getting their psp's to connect to wifi even with correct encryption
The Sony PSP, Vita, and PS3 online storefronts will no longer work through an internet browser soon, so this video is even more useful for the PSP owners still out there.
Worth also noting that most routers can have a filter on MAC addresses, so you can easily create an open network that just rejects all devices besides ones you specify. Much more secure than using WEP.
If you know of anything the PSP can do that I missed, PLEASE let me know in a reply to this comment. I feel like I missed a bit and if it's not in the video I'd atleast like the info to be in a single place.
Ok So I did do exactly as you said, and my PSP can see the connection now, which It couldn't before, but when I test connection it errors out seems like this is the way to do it but I'm just having issues personally

Yeah idk which model mines is but there’s always an error when I try to connect online or the network straight up doesn’t show up. All I wanna do I update it so I can copy these games from my PS3. Of course at this point I can just buy the physical copy of the games but it still bothers me that I can’t do it
I can access PlayStation Network and PlayStation Store on my PS4. However, PlayStation Store is gone on my PSP, and I cannot sign into PlayStation Network on my PSP. I can still go onto PlayStation Store online and buy stuff. Can I still purchase PSP games online, even if I have an account on the PS4 and not on the PSP?
@@tejathelegend you gotta connect to internet and apply the pro update. once you sign in you need to search and everything. i wouldnt buy through the psp in 2021 though, i would install them online(illegal but police wont visit you. everyone who has a psp now does that)
Apparently the PS Store on a web browser has gone though an overhaul where psp ps vita and ps3 games can't be purchased from there. What's also shocking is that ps4 themes can't be purchased on the browser. If you want to buy those stuff you have to access the PS Store on your respective system.
I just got a PSP 2000 from my friend works great. Just got GT for it as well. It’s as firmware update 6.20 and I am trying to connect to the WiFi. I did go to my router but WPA is blocked but WPA AES Mix is available. I tried that with connecting the psp through WPA-PSK (AES) and nothing. I did reset my router so my phone and Xbox one X can connect to the internet again. Idk what to do.
Also I believe that once you have activated your psn account on your psp it's easier to copy the games you purchased from a ps3 that is signed into your account rather than re-downloading your purchased titles rather than a pc!

all PSP Vita and PS3 content has been taken off the PlayStation store website. the only way you can access that now is through the respective console's storefront
not being able to sign in on PSN can either be because of a connection issue or you haven't activated your system with your account. you have a max number of devices your psn can sign into, check the description
I hope you can help me. I own a PSP 3000 (God of War Edition) and have had it stored for a few years. When the store access closing down I wanted to get games transferred from my PS3. I found it just recently and two digital games are installed and playable from my account. My question is if I update the firmware would my PS3 allow me to activate the PSP so I can download my purchased games? Thanks for your time.
My TP-Link Archer C8 has Guest Channels. Turn on one guest channel without security & it’ll work fine. After you’re do go back & turn this channel off. You’ll need to reboot after turning on & off. There should be a software reboot button in the router interface. Easy stuff.
I just got a psp and I was trying to connect my new psp to my psn account but neither of the wpa options worked. I set up my WiFi network and everything and when I tried to connect, it just says “A connection error has occurred.” I don’t know what to do. If anyone knows how to fix it that would be great. If you’re curious the system software is version 6.20.
Yeah getting a connection to actually go through is really flaky. It seems to be based on having a specific type of router that only does 2.4 GHz and not 5 or dual band. that being said, you can't really do anything with a PSP that logs into PSN nowadays anyways, outside of accessing your download list. There's no store anymore, It got closed down about a year after I made this video.

I only recently thought of it myself. It’s important to keep in mind that it will be the weakest point in your network security. Even more so if you set it to WEP for DS/DSLite/DSi playing DS games and using the browser cart.
So I started coming back to the psp recently, only to find that despite all my details being correct, it will keep telling me that my password and username are incorrect. use cfw. its what i switched to about 6 months after i made this video. getting the PSP online in the first place is a 50/50 coin flip as it is, as well as the PlayStation Store on PSP being fully shut down now. most of the stuff I show in this video isn't possible anymore.

Black Rock shooter the game, mighty flip champs DX, Pac-Man championship Edition, retro City rampage DX. also if there's a puzzle game in there where you swap objects that's Vempire. it's been awhile so I don't exactly remember everything from this intro but that should be all of them
you have to check the gigahertz, GHZ of the signal it outputs. it must be 2.4. It cannot be 5 OR dualband w/ 2.4 & 5. your mobile hotspot on your phone sometime works as well but it's kind of a coin toss whether it works or not. also, some of the stuff I showcase in this video is incredibly outdated. you can no longer buy games, I believe you can still access the download list but that's it.
I'm still able to do this on my psp 1000 using my phones hot spot connection, but when it gets to 49% on some games it stops and the estimated time goes up nomstop

can you download purchase and install them on psp i got tony hawks pro skater 1 and 3 street fighter games and goet simulator this looks easier then connecting usb only if i get the Wpa stuff right and not a 32 MB card
okay so, if you can get an internet connection going you should be able to download stuff you've purchased in the past but there's a lot of barriers now, like having to enable access via your Playstation network account which I don't know how to do. this video is very outdated at this point, and your card is too small to store any of the games you mentioned, so I'd recommend using custom firmware and not buying them legit.
nah you need a micro SD converter. PSP cards don't get big enough to store games on. find something like this, and then a usable SD card. you don't need to fill both slots. www.ebay.com/itm/294417702732?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=ujrc-xtmq7q&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=MIq2I1bFTKu&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
My PSP is firmware 6.60 is it necessary to update it ? Also I got the 2 GoW games for the psp but on the PS3 and I’m trying to copy them onto the PSP but it tells me “ the connected psp is connected with a different account if you perform this operation the current activation will become invalid .” So I can’t copy anything onto it , is the only solution connecting the psp to internet and then logging in to psn ? Is this still possible August 2020?
Well for me I had to access my router and turn off the security settings to connect my psp to the internet so I could update the system and activate my system to play my movies and games that I purchased on my playstation network account!
Looks like I gotta hunt down a old router I tried my hotspot but it doesn't work I even tried using guest wifi from other places but there's no getting in with their modern certificates
As of 2024 the PSP can still connect to PSN. For me, i do it the normal way through my router since it doesnt have a 2.4ghz connection. So what i did is connect my PSP through my phone. On my phone i had my hotspot set to open security (no password) and a 2.4 connection. I dont know if every phone supports this but my samsung phone can lock the hotspot so no one else can join it. And i dont use up any data since my phone uses my wifi instead.
@@TheArby913 gonna pin this cuz at the time I wasn't aware of the 2.4 GHz thing and it's some info that's actually missing from the video. as far as I know your router just has to support 2.4 GHz, even better if it only does 2.4 GHz. And yeah you can also do it through a phone as well

you didn't do anything wrong. you're not going to be able to connect your PSP to the Wi-Fi setup you have, so you either have to get an extender or a different router
@staswasyl1912 yeah from my experience it's kind of a coin flip whether it works or not. honestly I'm starting to resent making this video because my entire purpose behind doing it was because misinformation was being spread within the community that you could not access the store or your download list anymore and I knew for a fact that wasn't the case because I was still personally buying games at the time. I never really expected people to be utilizing this method seriously. honestly using a credit card to buy games through the PSP with such a poorly protected Wi-Fi connection is such a bad idea, it's a really easy way to get your credit card stolen. I'm probably going to make some type of an update to this video at some point this year, I just haven't got around to it yet.
@@PSPMan so i guess i'll have to buy games off ebay or something i guess these aren't as expensive anyways, around 10 bucks i think also i already have a great number of games already because i bought the psp from my friend
Black Rock Shooter The Game. Its a Digital Download in the US, which is why I included it. "Black Rock Shooter: The Game - Wikipedia" en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Rock_Shooter:_The_Game
Intro (In Order) 1. mighty flip champs DX 2. Pac-Man championship Edition 3. Retro City rampage DX 4. Vempire (minis) the rest of the footage in the video of the girl with the black hair and the gun arm is from Black Rock shooter, which was a PSN exclusive in the US. there's a physical release in japan, but that one's not in English. the background music for the majority of this video also comes from that game
Hi, my WiFi actually is compatible with my psp but every time I try to connect it, it says “weak access point” or “check security settings.” What should I do?
Thats most likely the WPA2 encryption issue. When the psp came out, the main types of wifi encryption were WEP, and WPA. WPA2 encryption came along about the same time, but wasn’t widely used in home networks at the time. Since the psp doesnt know what WPA2 is, it cant handle the encryption. So the beat thing to do is ask Comcast support or whoever your internet/ cable provider is how to change your wifi encryption type from WPA2 to WPA. Its usually done right through your web browser. Sounds complicated but its really not. The only other option would be to completely disable your wifi password, and have an open network. But if you are concerned about network security i wouldn’t advise that.
they're a crapshoot. all psp batteries available nowadays are new old stock, meaning they were made back when the PSP was still in its life cycle and they've been sitting on a shelf since then. there isn't a truly reliable source, your best bet is to buy three from different sellers on eBay and see which ones work.
I'm constantly receiving the message "error has occurred, the access point could not be established" it says to check the security settings again I did it so many times that I know the password without having to look at it what do I do please help
you move on. this is the exact same issue I got when I tried to connect to a hotspot. there's pretty much only a 50/50 chance stuff will work even if you're doing what you need to do
You can't charge your PSP while it's connected to the internet, or at least with my PSP. Didn't know that the search bar in the PS Store still worked though
What kind of PSP are you using with that? :P I believe that was actually a hardware limitation on early PSP-1000 models, and was fixed in later revisions. (Including some wifi chip overheating stuff.)
@@PSPMan Yeah, I got the sensMe channels, & digital comics to work on my vita using adrenaline. I just transferred the files for the internet radio, it displays on my Vita with the icon. I'm gonna try to see if it connects and works tomorrow, lol.

I can't say for 100% certain but I highly doubt you can. from what I can tell download codes have an expiration date on them and I know a lot of the stuff on Vita is completely gone already so I really doubt any of the PSP stuff works

How do you check to see how many psps u have active on your account since I've had 3 in total I don't think it will connect because so many are active
it used to be on one of the playstation sites but i have no clue anymore. I think I have a screenshot of the site in this video but not 100% sure as its been awhile
Process ended pretty quick for me. My router doesn't support WPA 😡 Good thing I have a PS3 I guess
What games were you playing in the intro?
Black Rock shooter the game, mighty flip champs DX, Pac-Man championship Edition, retro City rampage DX. also if there's a puzzle game in there where you swap objects that's Vempire. it's been awhile so I don't exactly remember everything from this intro but that should be all of them
@@PSPMan thanks man
I still cannot find network settings on my psp help
Can a TP-Link N300 router work with the PSP? Cause I know it has WPA.
you have to check the gigahertz, GHZ of the signal it outputs. it must be 2.4.
Ei que belo vídeo continue o bom trabalho.
Hey Very Nice vídeo keep this good work
I am considering getting a psp, I love handheld gaming, but I need to know what is right for me
I need to stay in the version 6.60 to buy games?
I believe you would need 6.61
but considering what's happened recently, I can't imaging games are gonna be available for much longer
@@PSPMan i can't buy games on psp anymore you must to have a ps3
I'm still able to do this on my psp 1000 using my phones hot spot connection, but when it gets to 49% on some games it stops and the estimated time goes up nomstop
Bro can u help me 🙏 when ever i open any website in my psp 2004 model it shows 'SSL communication cannot be performed A handshake error has occurred in SSL' plz help me bro
watch the video. I go over this in the latter half
can you download purchase and install them on psp i got tony hawks pro skater 1 and 3 street fighter games and goet simulator this looks easier then connecting usb only if i get the Wpa stuff right and not a 32 MB card
okay so, if you can get an internet connection going you should be able to download stuff you've purchased in the past but there's a lot of barriers now, like having to enable access via your Playstation network account which I don't know how to do. this video is very outdated at this point, and your card is too small to store any of the games you mentioned, so I'd recommend using custom firmware and not buying them legit.
ok need to amazon a bigger memory stick card
nah you need a micro SD converter. PSP cards don't get big enough to store games on.
find something like this, and then a usable SD card. you don't need to fill both slots.

@@PSPMan ok
My PSP is firmware 6.60 is it necessary to update it ? Also I got the 2 GoW games for the psp but on the PS3 and I’m trying to copy them onto the PSP but it tells me “ the connected psp is connected with a different account if you perform this operation the current activation will become invalid .” So I can’t copy anything onto it , is the only solution connecting the psp to internet and then logging in to psn ? Is this still possible August 2020?
everything described in this video still works
and yes you have to be logged into your psn account on that psp
my connection don’t support on my psp what can i do ?
Well for me I had to access my router and turn off the security settings to connect my psp to the internet so I could update the system and activate my system to play my movies and games that I purchased on my playstation network account!
I changed my routers security to wpa and it still won't connect... wtf am I suppose to do now?
Looks like I gotta hunt down a old router I tried my hotspot but it doesn't work I even tried using guest wifi from other places but there's no getting in with their modern certificates
Had to do it with my Mobile Hotspot since I have a 1001 model. Plus I had to turn off security for my hotspot. yikes...
And yeah you can also do it through a phone as well
Bro I buyed my psp street yesterday only when I am playing gta libercity I saw on options there was multiplayer so I click it. It shows connect to lan. How can I connect a psp street to lan plz reply 😢
for me it says “security” in the middle of trying to connect to wifi and it’s says “not supported” and that won’t allow me to choose the network
right
can i earn trophies and connect to my psn account by psp?
trophies aren't supported by any PSP games
I can’t seem to find jackass the game on the play station store... any help? I have a psp go
not every PSP game has a digital release
What is the music in this video?
the first track is from mighty flip champs DX and the second one that plays throughout the bulk of the video is from the Black Rock shooter PSP game. I don't know the specific names but they both happen pretty early on in both games
mostly Black★Rock Shooter: The Game OST - Battle Field "Cisco Town"
help, what did i do wrong, i cannot connect to my hotspot even if any security is turned off.
i do not have an option to use wpa1, only wpa2
i could use the router i have at home but i don't know if it has wpa or if my mom would like that
you didn't do anything wrong. you're not going to be able to connect your PSP to the Wi-Fi setup you have, so you either have to get an extender or a different router
@@PSPMan oh alright
well i sorta expected that
@staswasyl1912 yeah from my experience it's kind of a coin flip whether it works or not.
honestly I'm starting to resent making this video because my entire purpose behind doing it was because misinformation was being spread within the community that you could not access the store or your download list anymore and I knew for a fact that wasn't the case because I was still personally buying games at the time.
@@PSPMan so i guess i'll have to buy games off ebay or something
i guess these aren't as expensive anyways, around 10 bucks i think
also i already have a great number of games already because i bought the psp from my friend
i guess it's better for me to know that i cant connect my psp to wifi, i would waste a lot of time
Due to my WiFi not being able to connect I can’t log into my PSN account. How do I transfer my PS3 games?
I believe you transfer games to a PSP via a PS3 with a USB cable, not Wi-Fi
what game was he playing at 0:27?
Black Rock Shooter The Game. Its a Digital Download in the US, which is why I included it.
"Black Rock Shooter: The Game - Wikipedia" en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Rock_Shooter:_The_Game
What the game play in the background
Intro (In Order)
1. mighty flip champs DX
2. Pac-Man championship Edition
3. Retro City rampage DX
4. Vempire (minis)
the rest of the footage in the video of the girl with the black hair and the gun arm is from Black Rock shooter, which was a PSN exclusive in the US. there's a physical release in japan, but that one's not in English. the background music for the majority of this video also comes from that game
What does it mean if it says the access point was not detected
It says weak connection for me, how do I fix it?
could you solve it?
@@dreamlandlabs729 thank you for explaining:)
Do i need a battery to go into recovery mode on my psp? I dnt have a battery and what i do if my wifi not supported? I really need some help
Yes you need a battery plus you can use your mobile phone as a wifi hotspot to connect to the internet.
I really love black rock shooter, but i find it very odd for it to be showcased in this video
it's digital only in the US. every game I showed off in this video is only available via PSN
Can modded psp use it?
Ok so this does not work. You cannot sign in to your PSN just keeps popping up wrong pass or email but I'm typing in the right info
What is the game from 0:57 to 1:20?
Black Rock Shooter. It was Japan only forever but got an english release at one point that stayed PSN exclusive so not a lot of people know about it.
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Rock_Shooter:_The_Game
@@PSPMan Thank you very much.
So I recently found my psp from when I was a kid, and the battery is poofed. Anyone that can tell me of a battery that works and is good? Thank you
they're a crapshoot. all psp batteries available nowadays are new old stock, meaning they were made back when the PSP was still in its life cycle and they've been sitting on a shelf since then. there isn't a truly reliable source, your best bet is to buy three from different sellers on eBay and see which ones work.
@@PSPMan ok thank you
I tried it with my hotspot. It didn't support it
I'm constantly receiving the message "error has occurred, the access point could not be established" it says to check the security settings again I did it so many times that I know the password without having to look at it what do I do please help
you move on. this is the exact same issue I got when I tried to connect to a hotspot. there's pretty much only a 50/50 chance stuff will work even if you're doing what you need to do
@@PSPMan oof
If hotspot doesnt work, try without putting a password it only worked that way for me
Does RSS feed still work?
You can't charge your PSP while it's connected to the internet, or at least with my PSP. Didn't know that the search bar in the PS Store still worked though
What kind of PSP are you using with that? :P I believe that was actually a hardware limitation on early PSP-1000 models, and was fixed in later revisions. (Including some wifi chip overheating stuff.)
PSP's are......interesting things. Nice piece of tech.
Kinda underated ngl
Can I download mortal Kombat?
How to fix the wifi not being supported
use hotspot from your mobile and set it with no password.
Would the internet radio work with the Vita, or is that out the question? Cuz I got everything like the music to work stuff to work, lol
You got these features working on a Vita?
Is that through the PSP XMB compatibility thing? I don't remember what it's called, I've never used it.
@@PSPMan Yeah, I got the sensMe channels, & digital comics to work on my vita using adrenaline. I just transferred the files for the internet radio, it displays on my Vita with the icon. I'm gonna try to see if it connects and works tomorrow, lol.
@S0raJr From what I remember, it should play music but it won't be what's supposed to be on the channels. I think the frequencies have been bought out by other countries
still, that's really cool to hear you got all that working though. I had no idea that was possible
@@PSPMan Honestly, I didn't either. I thought it was made to play PSP and PS1 backups. But now I really do have a 2-in-1

I know this is late but very informative video love it. I just need the sauce for that song that plays throughout the vid.
it's from the Black Rock shooters PSP game OST. it's one of the first songs in the game so I know it's very early on in the OST's listing
Can you still redeem codes
I can't say for 100% certain but I highly doubt you can. from what I can tell download codes have an expiration date on them and I know a lot of the stuff on Vita is completely gone already so I really doubt any of the PSP stuff works
I don't have network settings
