Best set of speakers I ever sold, incredible bargain, a tiny fraction of the money that high end speakers go for now. They were actually designed for wide rooms! Crazy stuff. They ended up powered by Krell & Adcom amps with a number of different preamps. Most peoples reaction was just shock. The customer had huge Magnaplanars too (never called them Magnapans). Luckily he had a gigantic living room.
Wow……i only wear my cheap AKG head set , the sound stage is amazing …..please upload more often with other audiophile recording ….or you can open a rented listening room for this beast gear …..
I had the RS-2bs, 2.5s, infinity quantum 2, - sold these, the gamma's, I have now. I had few ever bands through the years. I also made set of crazy looking speakers I have hook right now. I been trying to get set of open baffle speakers side by side with the gamma's and the speakers I made. But the store would not let take a pair unless I buy them in-full. If I bring them about I would lose $800.00.
Proofs that there has been no big improvements since the 80s in speaker technology…and sound quality 👍🏼. So my big speakers from year 2000 is also still great and up to date.
I listened through my Gammas, man I can tell just how fantastic these sound ! Your Amps and everything seems super well matched. I have to ask, do you feel the need to go any further ? I think I’d be done…it took me quite awhile to get where I am and it’s a solid endgame for my audio journey. Anyway Beautiful System and I’m sure you enjoy it to it’s fullest.
Some of you all would hate me. I have 2 sets of IRS IIIa's in my club basement. Chairs, table artwork on the walls. It's called living in a normal house. If Erwin wants his woofers against the wall and a glass top table it's his choice. Get over yourselves.
I have the same questions, did you find the LS26 was a good enough pre vs going to Ref5, 6 or ? Sounds great via youtube. Is the system quiet or lots of hiss?
@Lloyd Stout the bass columns are to close to the walls ..which is fine aslong as he would have treated the walls . The mid high wings can be placed relatively easy. It's a dipole lot more (believe it or not) forgiving as far as room gains goes. Low end not so much
I’m not a fan of tube electronics they are a slow deterioration of quality music playback and people usually notice after it’s to late or they re tube there equipment,it’s not worth the headache 🤕 and the echo in this room is ridiculous
I had the opposite reaction. I'm a headphone guy, always had solid state. But I stumbled into a nice tube amp a couple years ago. It's so clean and neutral, I thought it was trying too hard to be a solid state and wasn't impressed at first. (I didn't even really want to like it. I was hoping to flip it, but the stock market crashed on us.) After a while, I came around to the sense of space and depth and just, believably, of the sound.

Love the look and sound of Audio Research gear, the rest of that rubbish you can have.
Love the classic Infinity! Thanks for sharing!
Nice equipment. More room treatment?

You need to put the woofer boxes on the other end of the room to get a surround sound effect which is nice
Awesome audio system
it kills me when audiophiles spend big bucks on speakers And don't set them up correctly
Get the woofer towers away from side walls

Considering buying these in a few days, one quick question. How are they wired exactly ?
Too much bass and highs but that is a very engaging sound....great fun.

Low end not so much
Na filmie dźwięk nie jest dobry przy basie, Musisz nad tym popracować, być może odwrócenie faz głośników, Pozdrawiam z Polski.
Nice system, a great shame about the acoustics though.

That low end sounds super boomy ...surprises me because they sound otherwise wonderful may it be some shitty music choice here
