Nice CN mixed freight in Waterloo iowa pretty cool union pacific actions in montour Iowa red nice night mode on the fire you set that fire is big enough 🔥😊😊👍
Great trains today Red. I always look forward to your new videos! Be sure to tell Bear, Cooper and Walter hello. Give them an ear scratching for me. I love seeing your dogs. ❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊
Red, I love your drone work, what a view of the consist and the locales too. I was in FFA and really enjoy your agriculture coverage. The history that you cove also adds so much more to your videos. Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing!!
You're welcome Rick! I especially like the fall for the harvest footage. Seeing a combine up close with the drone is fun. I definitely enjoy railroad history!
Hello Red, another fantastic video, great this CN freight train with the five diesel locomotives at the front and the UP freight train also with five locomotives. These dogs are great with your little ones. The night video with this great campfire and the UP freight trains passing by is spectacular, excellently filmed. Thank you for sharing the video and have a good time. Best regards from Germany. wolfgang
Was hoping to see fire out of the locomotives stack! Jk. Wonderful catches. The drone shots are great too. Nice seeing that mix of power on the first train. CSX is headquartered in my hometown of Jacksonville Florida. Also, love your night mode setup. Keep em coming and I'll keep watching!
Thanks truckntim80! I'm bound to catch a flame thrower one of these days. Railfanning will be a little tougher now with the cold, time for the gloves😀👍
That's a good sized fire there, Red! I noticed that there was Red or pink ballast on the Clinton sub, I ain't never seen ballast that ain't grey! Is it a local product? Awesome night mode action on Reds Iowa Train Videos! Drone time! Have a great week mate & lolly on for Halloween! 🚂🇺🇸🇦🇺🇺🇸🚂
Thanks Agent Mulder! Yep I'm glad it was calm out for that fire. I believe the quarry with the pink ballast is in Wisconsin. That line was CNW before UP. CNW was known for their pink ballast. Night mode comes early up here now. Have a good one👍
Nice drone footage of the Canadian National's train #l57191-14 as it pulled out of the Waterloo, Iowa yard on 13 October 2023, Red! You had some busy daylight and nighttime railfanning at Montour, Iowa on 20 October 2023. I enjoyed watching all the Union Pacific trains that you caught at Montour, Iowa. You were lucky that you did not have any wind during the time that you had the bonfire going in the evening.
Thanks Thomas! Yep that night was pretty calm. The flames went straight up on that one. Probly about the end of the night videos for the season. Cold weather kicked in around here.
Hi, Mr. Red. Great videos to take, the drone views are just superb. The last 3rd of this video reminded me of the late train photographer O.Winston Link. He took black and white pictures of trains at night. Thanks for your continuos train video updates from the wonderful state of Iowa. Greeting to all railroad fans from Bavaria, Germany.
Those CN M-2's look pretty brutish from up above lol. I also got a couple trains you did on the UP further west between Colo and Nevada. 2 days later I caught the return trip for the CSX and CN lash-up on the UP
Sadly no. In Wisconsin we lost the American Motors later Dodge plant in Kenosha WI in the mid 1980s. Then we lost GM @ Janesville WI by 2010 and just this past winter Stilentis formerly Dodge Chrysler stopped assembling cars in Belvidere IL but still uses the property for auto distribution which is about 20 to 25 auto racks a day.. it never fails all of these were former CNW served locations. Today the closest auto plants are Ford in Chicago and Kansas City. There are also foreign auto makers with a plant in Bloomington IL and two in Indiana.
That was great! Do the two yard's have the same capacity? The first yard @1:00 & the B yard that Iowa northern uses. What was in this car @9:55 the one with black tarp on the roof & light green side I think you said aex car? That was unusual! What type of company does it go to or come from? This is the first time I noticed reflectors on tank cars! When did they first use the reflectors Do you have a dog whistle? That would help control the barking! Don't get me wrong I do NOT mind the barking as I grew up with dogs!
Thanks Andrew! B yard is a lot smaller than A yard. Iowa Northern mainly uses it to get to their home rails. The green car I believe hauls woodchips. It's been a bit of a mystery. The coon hound is my girlfriend's. My dogs fortunately aren't that loud😃
Nice CN mixed freight in Waterloo iowa pretty cool union pacific actions in montour Iowa red nice night mode on the fire you set that fire is big enough 🔥😊😊👍
Thanks Diego! That was a fun night with the fire. Those trains roll all night long👍
Thanks for your Strong 💪 Efforts Lighting Up the Night and Train. 👍🙏
You're welcome Ken! I use the old school lights. They take a lot of juice😀
Great video Red out of the ball park . And THE yupper do
Thanks Robin! That was a great night! Unfortunately winter is near. Probly even closer for you!
Another first on UA-cam.... a train lit by both lights and a fire! Great drone shots. CN/CSX. Double crossover.
Thanks Steve!
Your videos are beautiful Red, i look forward to every one you are kind enough to share.
Thanks, Geoff from U.K.
You're welcome geoffrey!
Great trains today Red. I always look forward to your new videos! Be sure to tell Bear, Cooper and Walter hello. Give them an ear scratching for me. I love seeing your dogs. ❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊
Thanks Gary! Old Cooper was pretty noisy in this video. That's a coon hound for ya!
More awesome catches Red, especially those night trains by a big bonfire 🔥.👍🏼nice little setup too.
Thanks Nancy! That's my get away train spot. Glad the heater works well in the camper👍
The L571 always has a nice mix of product on it. Lots of power on this one
It sure does👍

An awesome UP coal train Red! 😊😊😊❤❤❤
Great variety of trains Red! Always enjoy watching those UP priority trains hauling A$$!
Thanks Michael! I like how those units scream on notch 8!
Up until the eastbound UP all of the trains were unusually short compared to the normal trains you post. I liked this one! 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤
Yep, long and fast on those priority trains😀👍

You're welcome Wolfgang! That UP train with the 5 locos was really moving. The dogs get to see a lot of trains. Greetings from Iowa!!
Another great coal train. Got to keep the lights on in Wisconsin. 😊😊😊❤❤
Nice drone shots Red. Always look forward to your videos. 🚂🚂
Thanks Anthony!
Lots Of Power On The 1st Train You Caught
Yep, must have been moving power somewhere👍
Watched Virtual Railfan earlier today, and the last CNW AC4400 showed up in Elkhart Indiana on an NS train........yup! Its still alive 'n' kickin'!
Glad to hear it Paul!
YEA!! This getting darker soon really cuts down on my train time FUN!!
I do have lights on my raised RR.
Early dark and cold make railfanning a challenge. I need some electric gloves!
CN put lots of power on the L571 for no longer than it was. Seems like a lot of extra wear and tear. 😊😊
I think they were taking power to another spot. Most likely Fort Dodge👍
Mighty fine video indeed
Thanks Arkansawer!

Hey Red. They are starting to lay track at the Charles City crossover.
Thanks Michael! I just flew the drone over that spot a little over a week ago. I'll have to get back up there👍
UP 1983 just went west through Ames
Was that your idea with the fire? Great idea
Nice Doppler effect on most of the train horns. Is most of this action going by your back yard? 🇨🇦
Thanks Vicky! That's property I own away from home.

That was a lot of power on the L571 that day! I liked the puff of smoke when they powered that one up👍
@@redsiowatrainvideos6645 if you're going to get the locals on Tuesday, a CP and NS locomotive are going to be on L570. It will be windy though
@@fallingup90 OK, thanks! How do you go about figuring out power and times on trains?
@@redsiowatrainvideos6645 they went out on L571 today. As long as things go as scheduled, they should be on the return in 2 days.
@@fallingup90 OK, a friend of mine that lives in Waterloo actually gave me a heads up on that train. I was out of town!
Good job on the night mode. Question was this always a UP sub or was it something else before the UPSP merger 1996?
Thanks Otto! It was the Chicago and Northwestern (CNW) before. The UP bought CNW in 1995 and acquired that expressway to Chicago!
How can you tell it's a priority train? 😊😊
Usually just look for the UPS trailers👍
Holy conflagrations Batman!!
Yep, all kinds of power!
Is there an auto manufacturer anywhere close Red? 😊
Not in Iowa that I know of. I believe in Wisconsin.

I think reflectors started in the late 80s or early 90s on those tank cars.
