@@shaolin95 yes, a7III with 8bit recording and Nikon Z6 ... with less than half of Panasonic features, Canon EOS R, really? Now, everyone finds a problem with something that actually works better than all the competition at this price range. I don't understand it.
Nice review, thanks for it. But I wonder, why does everybody call this camera a Panasonic or a Panasonic Lumix and not just a Lumix? After all, you never hear someone call a Lexus car a Toyota or Toyota Lexus...
Hello, Just came across you channel. I literally just bought a GH5 as a UA-cam vlogger and just fell in love with the 4k60.. Just do some amount of nighttime and video with GH5 stuggles. Not bad but struggles. Contrary to some of the other comments "real videographers don't use autofocus" is BS. I don't consider myself a professional but those of us who do video and do not have time to stop our world to manual focus autofocus is a good thing. I have had little problems with autofocus on GH5 with -5,-4 settings on AF. It does take a bit to focus but once locked on it stays and does not breath in and out or what ever you call it. My concern is hearing some again challenges with autofocus and using S5 and Sigma lens say 14-24 mm.. Wondering what others experience has been. These lenses are not cheap.
S5 autofocusing is OK but it has a lot of issues. A little bit more issues with Sigma lenses than Lumix lenses. S5II and S5IIx fix it all - they work properly and as good as Sony cameras in my opinion
Great review. You combine a very warm and human/humourous approach with excellent tech analysis. You've certainly convinced me about the S5 being my next Panasonic camera :)
This was a such a good review. Thank you! I also ordered this camera. I had a S1R for a while, and I loved it. I used it for photography over video. My only complaint was the massive size, so I’m very happy to see the S5 be smaller than the S1 series.
Yep. I've ordered the S5. I've watched a lot of videos about it. Yes, the AF isn't perfect and still sketchy. But, it is dramatically better. And given the price point, it has a lot of great features, not the least of which is being full frame, and shoots 10-bit internally. Plus, I've always like Panasonic's color science. Until my S5 arrives, I continue to watch more S5 porn. Haha. Thumbs up.
have you gotten the camera? Are you happy with it? I'm thinking of changing from Sony. The live composite feature is calling my name, as a light painter.

Thanks again
Once you have a pro level Pana it's hard to look at competition. Not just from feature set but their ergonomics, handling, weather sealing, menu system, photo and video quality just for me at least elevate it above so much of the competition. I was on a shoot awhile ago where we shot with my GH5 for a reshoot on a music video that was originally shot on an Arri Amira. We used my gh5 because it matched colour and quality with the 10bit video at 4k of the Amira the best out of our options. Which was between a Canon 80d and a Sony a7iii. For that shoot the owner of the a7iii shot on my gh5 and kept going on about how good and intuitive the camera feels. How good the screen is etc. The entire experience with Panasonic is just great. They have won my loyalty for now :)
@@jockturner1547 I got the S5 and I'm still getting used to the different focusing modes and other differences from sony and canon which is what I'm used too. So far I do like the ergonomics (after getting an L bracket) I'mooking forward to learning this new system.
I think the only knock against this option (vs. GH5/G9) is that 4K60 is cropped. I tend to switch between 4K30 & 4K60 at times, and that does force you to adjust.
3:53 when you show the footage of the focus in continuous, the focus behaves differently when we are recording. Since this demonstration, if a video was recorded, the focus was smoother. I have a GX80 and it happens. In the background, what you see represents the behavior of the continuous focus for photography. Correct me if I'm wrong please.
problem there was a lens. I have used Lumix 50mm f1.4 S Pro - not the best for this camera and it's AF system - this was NOT happening with the new 20-60mm kit lens and I guess new line of S primes will be right too
Might not have canons new world class af but it still works great, doesn't over heat, and has several other features that beat the canon and at a much cheaper price range. I use a Sony a6000 right now and this is going to be my first full frame
@@ZR1Terror their Sony a1 might beat out canons top model r3...not sure on that. But if we're comparing every single other model, canon wins at every level.

My Canon 600D (Rebel) is long overdue for an upgrade. Was almost 100% sold on the A7iii, but given that I was looking at mainly getting those amazing new Sigma lenses (particularly the new 85 1.4 DG DN) anyway, the S5 has come along and caught my eye. Given the age of the A7iii, I'd love a direct comparison. I only shoot stills, so the video AF issues are absolutely not an issue for me. Plus the Lumix menus look so much nicer to deal with. Love the review, you are one of the few that dedicates enough time to the stills and AF for stills
It seems to be a well-rounded camera that should be quite capable for some time to come. Definitely nice that the L-Mount system can adaptation easily to just about any other lens format.
Wow, another fantastic review. I can get this for the same price as an OM Systems OM5. Which would you pick? I'm mostly doing photography only, especially landscapes and birds. While less weight would be nice, if the photos are way better then I don't mind.
good choice! There isn't 'best' setting. It will always depend on the situation, time of day, your style, lens etc. You need to learn the exposure triangle (aperture, shutter speed and ISO) to get the most out if it but most importantly have fun with it
Have been a G85 user for 5 years seriously considering the S5 as an upgrade for it's video features and most importantly it's probably the best bargain for a full frame camera! The auto focus for me is not a big deal as I mostly use manual focus and what I love about Panasonic is the consistent firmware updates and how they continually support their older cameras even the G85 which is probably 6 or 7 years old now since it's first release! My G85 just keeps getting better even the auto focus with every new firmware update and I know the S5 will have that same support.
One time I dropped my GH4 from a good height onto asphalt without a cage. No problems EVER how ever many years later it’s been in every environment. Just placed my order 👍
Hi I have a question. Panasonic are famous for their timelapse functions. Does S5 have more advanced intervelometer functions and can work in conjunction with AEB e.g. can I set the camera to take 3/5/7 auto exposure bracketing every 3 minutes using the internal intervelometer?
I shoot on a Panasonic G9, and to me the S5 strongly feels like a "full frame G9", which is definitely not a bad thing! Thanks for the level-headed review!
@@mastermuffin_ I agree, it's not a replacement as such. I meant that the vibe I get from the S5 is a lot like the G9's. I could definitely film BMX on an S5!
I’m a retired hobby photographer and looking to maybe upgrade. Presently I’m with the G85 and extremely happy. Would this be worth it for me? Thanks for the honest opinion.
maybe - the camera or a lens doesn't make you a better photographer, it makes it easier, for sure. I own S5 and I love it - one of the best cameras on the market right now
Thanks for the review. I'm looking to change from my Nikon 750 to a decent and better AF camera and I think your review might help me make the decision. Question - if you change from photo to video and vice versa, does that affect the settings? That's does it keep the old setting when you return to the previous mode?
would you choose this over xt3/xt4???.... the only really a bit off seems a af to me ( in video mode! maybee I could do a crop video to have better af) - aldow fuji seems to have in video also just contrast detection. anyway ibis is way ahead of fuji.... also panasonic is better build I think and fuji just aint to last 10 years of so ( yes I have a plan to keep my next upgrade 10 years)... Seems to me panny primes are great and sometimes even cheaper than fuji. and FF look ( DOF, and shallow depth of field is just super nice!). I am not so shure about which viewfinder is better thoug.... Not to forget: the thing about panny is: autofocus is way better ib video if you confirm the yellow square ( when is on face) with yostick ! It was one italian guy on youtube who finds this trick!
I have actually chosen S5 over XT-4 and bought it - it is my favourite camera right now! The AF is much better now after the firmware updates and when used correctly
There is a video of a guy shooting with the S5 professionally and talks about autofocus, and he said, as long as you tell the autofocus WHAT to do, sort of like a manual autofocus. It will do the job and dial in some settings to eliminate the pulsing issues, in fact the S5 can be dialed in to pull focus like they do in cinema, notice how focus is never pulled fast in movies unless its for dramatic effect, its always slow and steady. Only bummer about the S5 is the lens selection, no pancakes but Sony has plenty also its got the weight of a tank for its size.
I have done this video when I had pre-production copy of S5 for only few days. There is lots of videos out there hoe to get the best out of auto focus and how to make it work well
Woud you recommend this s5 over the a7 iii I Uk atm I can get them both at the same price.a bit sceptic about sony a7 as I see many reviews complaining about the shutter problem I previously had a sony a6000
I have both and I am using S5 more. The AF in video is not as good (but not bad at all) but S5 gives soooo much more overall - better colour, in photos and video, better video formats, RAW 12bit video over HDMI, better screen and viewfinder and more.
At 04:20 you can see how the background looks really bad because of CDAF behavior, I love my G80 but the problem is still there even on S5 as I can see (so not reliable at all), not confident autofocus like Sony or Dual Pixel from Canon. Also sometimes it follows the face but there is softness because of its slower and not precise tracking. It's better compared to CDAF in the past but still not reliable as intended for confident video usage with AFC.
I love your videos! You make me want to create more! Can I ask what the S&Q settings were for the clip shown between 3:40 and 3:43. Its a perfect speed!
@@PavSZ I really appreciate that. I am going to play around with that. I will tell you Pav, you really do inspire me to be more creative and to do more creative things. I am a 53 year old real estate broker by trade, which I like being. But I am WAY more passionate about creating with a camera!!
I enjoyed your video and I am considering this camera as an alternative (way less money) to an M10. Really what I would like to know is how this camera works with manual focus Leica M lenses?
Great review! There is A LOT of pulsing in the background, it's especially visible when he has treas I'm the background. On the hand lots of those shots would likely be stationary and he wouldnt be walking around so one could use the app to set focus and then lock it into manual.
he did his best to show how it works. All these problem have been polished out completely with S5II. He doesn't think that you can switch from AF to MF via the Lumix app as the camera has got a physical switch, not electronic button. He is not 100% sure though
What are you thoughts on it lacking the Anti-Aliasing Low Pass Filter? Because I am really considering this camera for my first professional workhorse camera because of its color science.
@@PavSZ Oh really! You're such a life-saver, people suddenly are making so much video about its disadvantage which it's hard for people like me who never used Lumix before to navigate through.
I'll be upgrading my kit next spring for the 2022 wedding season. Currently working in m43 with a G9/GH5 as I do hybrid coverage and mostly second photo work. I've been shooting Panasonic for about 4-5 years now and I have a love/hate relationship with it. Love the brand and quality, but hate the m43 format. This might be an option for me. Before digging into reading about the S1R/H and S5 I was highly considering jumping to Nikon Z or Sony. Not sure now. Wish that Panasonic would be cool and send me a loaner to test! Lmao... yeah right.
Were these photos that you featured straight out of camera or were they touched up in post? Also does the S5 display the zoom distance in the viewfinder like the bigger brothers?
photos were pretty much straight out of the camera as I had to shoot jpeg (couldn't open RAW files from pre-release camera) - I am not sure about the zoom distance display though. I can't say I have noticed it but I wasn't looking for it
I am considering to buy the S5. Does the S5 have a clean HDMI out? I know it has a mini HDMi. But can I connect it to VMIX via a capture card? Help please.
Thanks for the review. Wish the camera was out earlier. Oct 30 is too far. How does it handle with the kit lens vs the A73 with the 28-70 kit lens. Should be about the same weight. What about the EVF . The A73 EVF was terrible. My cheap Canon RP had better EVF compared to the A73 even though specs where the same. When doing Astro the A73 LCD and EVF would not pick up the stars very well.
The 2875 tamron is a great lens, but needs complementing with something wider eg 18 or 20. Nit interested in the 2060 personally as I use a 21mm with my s1, but for many folk habe the 20mm might negate the need for a 1635. So in think the 2060 would work great with the Sigma 85 DG DN
Isn’t it Vlog L not Vlog proper 3:40? Only reason is it’s my one major sticking point creating professional shorts for platforms eg Netflix does not approve this as an A shooter bc of vlog isn’t too spec. More than just a meaningless Netflix rating it does affect grading in post significantly however you can absolutely get the job done with vlog L. But I’m making sure I didn’t miss anything and hoping for clarity. Great review I’m looking for a more mobile a shooter and am on the fence with the S1 but this seems to just Nearly all the same !
Everything I have heard is that it is full v-log. I can't see spending the extra 500 on the S1, the only real difference is the card slots and the lack of recording limits in the 4k 10 bit modes on the S1. I would love to have no record limits, as I pretty much want this as a B Cam for interviews, but I I don't know if it's worth 500 extra when I can just record to my atomos and/or start/stop recording every 30 mins
I own a Sony a6300 and I’m want to upgrade to full frame. Was a bit undecided between S5, new Sony a7c or a Sony a7III. But now I’m really inclined to the S5! Any opinion on the a7c? Cheers mate
S5 has got the highest spec out of these three. I didn't have a chance to use a7c yet, so i can't comment but from what I am seeing is a slightly cut down version of a7III
Great video! Thanks for the detailed review. I wanted to like this S5 SO much that I sold all my older Canon gear to get it. But in the end, even the fantastic video features like 10 Bit internal was not enough to balance the unreliable auto focus. Even knowing this is the very best autofocus that Panasonic can do, it just wasn't really practical from a video perspective. Any static talking head shot that involved movement ( Interviews, Documentary, etc ) would ALWAYS pulse and completely destroy the background ( especially background bokeh ) no matter how we set the autofocus speed settings. The tracking accuracy on the screen 'looks' great but the 'actual' focus that takes place is quite far behind the onscreen animation. Tried every combination of lens and f-stop ( with the kit lens and the 50mm 1.4 ) and still could not kill the pulsing. After almost 2 months of testing and experimentation, we finally landed on the Nikon Z6ii and the difference was night and day....literally. Even though the Z6ii could not compete with some of the higher end specs, it has the features that matter the most and it is utterly reliable in almost every circumstance where the S5 was not ( stable auto-focus ). If your work case has a crew to pull manual focus and others to help than this probably doesn't apply but, if you're a smaller crew or one person doing a lot of tasks ( interviews, content creators, docs ), the Z6ii is simply a better overall tool, even without the internal 10bit. If I need the 10bit, I can always get a Ninja V. In the end the best image quality in the world is useless if the shot is out of focus.
Thanks for watching and such a thought trough comment! I use both S5 and Z6/Z6II and they are both great - all my talking to the camera is filmed with Nikons because of the auto focus - I can't control it manually when I am in front of the camera but 90% of everything I film I use manual focusing, with all of my cameras. There is time and place when auto focus is a must, like filming from a gimbal but pretty much any other situation can me managed manually, especially talking heads in interview style scenarios. But for sure, S5's auto focus is 100% better than that of all Blackmagic or RED cameras 😉
@@gxrsky because for the same price point the closest match is the older A7III and the Nikons beat that in almost every way except autofocus and they catching up to even that now.
why would i need an external monitor recorder that starts from ISO 640? whats the point from shooting video internally? ISO 640 for recording on monitor gives you worse dynamic range right away.
Looks good but not enough to swap from an MFT investment. Especially with worse evf, time limits, expensive lenses and less custom buttons! That omission makes no sense to me. Really love Panasonic usability and the reliability for hybrid jobs is fantastic, but the L mount just hasn't hit the spot for me personally. I'd like something between the S1R and S5 with S1H screen. Thanks for the video.

How would the 20-60 compare to the 10-25 on a g9 say in terms of IQ? For the price of the 10-25 I can pay a little more and get the s5 with kit instead
The 10-25 is an f1.7 constant aperture whereas the 20-60 isn't. Also the 10-25 is sharper but you need to be looking closely to see the difference really. 20-60 is a great lens
@@PavSZ i m very confused between fuji xt4 and s5, if i buy s5 please suggest me a all in one lens for s5, i need only one lens for video and photos, i dont believe in 16-60 kit lens
Panasonic does not get the attention it deserves. The colors are some of the nicest I have seen, and the camera has a lot of features. I agree the lenses are excellent but also expensive. I just don't know why they do not put phase detect autofocus in their cameras. The background pulsing really ruins a lot of video and it does hunt more than pretty much any other brand with exception of fuji with some of their lenses. At 5:45-5:50 background pulsing was very bad and very noticeable. I think the price is a little high for the below class autofocus. Thanks for the honest review.
thanks for watching and your comment. The pulsing was happening a lot with the expensive 50mm f1.4. Almost not at all with the 20-60 kit lens. Overall is not that bad and totally usable once you know where the problems are. Better than my Nikon Z6 and Sony a7III in many situations

You've certainly convinced me about the S5 being my next Panasonic camera :)
thank you very much! I certainly convinced myself too - I'll be getting one soon!
This was a such a good review. Thank you! I also ordered this camera. I had a S1R for a while, and I loved it. I used it for photography over video. My only complaint was the massive size, so I’m very happy to see the S5 be smaller than the S1 series.
Love the autofocus testing walks and expressions haha. Top video. Looks like it's a good one this Pav. May be the one I choose!! Great job on this.
Thanks Dan! I am seriously considering it right now. You get a free Sigma 45mm lens worth £500 in September with it
Great review! As an all around camera it fits all my needs/wants. I like the humor you inject into your reviews as well!!
Thanks!
@@Plummky A Swede? I'm a first gen Norwegian. Live over there for a few years. My sister even married a swede and dragged him back to usa hah. Thanks for letting me know. I'm only a photo guy and all of these reviews focus so much on video that it has me a little spooked that I'm getting the wrong camera for me. But its always nice to hear another positive review.
Good review , I have this camera and I've been pleased so far.
Nice 👍
3:53 when you show the footage of the focus in continuous, the focus behaves differently when we are recording. Since this demonstration, if a video was recorded, the focus was smoother. I have a GX80 and it happens. In the background, what you see represents the behavior of the continuous focus for photography. Correct me if I'm wrong please.
problem there was a lens. I have used Lumix 50mm f1.4 S Pro - not the best for this camera and it's AF system - this was NOT happening with the new 20-60mm kit lens and I guess new line of S primes will be right too
@@PavSZ yeah but the lumix have very good video features... and very good photo features = pixel shift high resolution!!
Hello Pav, nice review and well done, I will surely buy one soon thank you
Might not have canons new world class af but it still works great, doesn't over heat, and has several other features that beat the canon and at a much cheaper price range. I use a Sony a6000 right now and this is going to be my first full frame
Isn’t Sony the best when it come to AF??
@@ZR1Terror their Sony a1 might beat out canons top model r3...not sure on that. But if we're comparing every single other model, canon wins at every level.
Wow! Great excellent video! Did you do any post-processing editing to the video or was it taken SOOC with auto mode?
it's all have been tweaked a little in Premiere
No matter where you are in Poland, the buildings all seem to look very identical :D

Great to hear! it is a GEM!

Great review as always! I wonder which one to choose. S5 or a7iii. I'm like 50/50 photo and video. The only thing I am concerned about is AF in s5.
I own a7III already and I swap it for S5 right now - so much sophisticated camera with very capable AF
@@PavSZ a7iii is better or worse than s5?
Just discovered your channel, amazing quality review. Subbed!
Welcome aboard! Thank you very much!
What are you doing/showing at 10:13 when the sensor appeared to be shaking/jittering? Did I see that right sweating in the UK :-)
that's just the shutter opening and closing
Best review of the S5. Thank you.
Glad you liked it! Thank you!
Wow, another fantastic review. I can get this for the same price as an OM Systems OM5. Which would you pick? I'm mostly doing photography only, especially landscapes and birds. While less weight would be nice, if the photos are way better then I don't mind.
to me S5 is a better camera overall but OM-System has more lenses available, it is smaller and lighter
Thanks for your good honest review, I want one ☝️
Hi, really nice and helpful video. I'm planning to purchase this camera, could you please do a complete camera setup video for this S5? Thanks.
I just go this camera . What’s the best setting for photography ? Thank you for your content
good choice!
There isn't 'best' setting. It will always depend on the situation, time of day, your style, lens etc.
You need to learn the exposure triangle (aperture, shutter speed and ISO) to get the most out if it but most importantly have fun with it
I'm keeping my GH4 for now but this is a good review.
beyond the content-- great prdouction! Your set and editing chops are well thought out-
thank you very much!
S5 would be a huge upgrade to your G85, S5II even more so.
Thanks for sharing all this
One time I dropped my GH4 from a good height onto asphalt without a cage. No problems EVER how ever many years later it’s been in every environment. Just placed my order 👍
good choice - they are build very well for sure
Hi I have a question. Panasonic are famous for their timelapse functions. Does S5 have more advanced intervelometer functions and can work in conjunction with AEB e.g. can I set the camera to take 3/5/7 auto exposure bracketing every 3 minutes using the internal intervelometer?
I shoot on a Panasonic G9, and to me the S5 strongly feels like a "full frame G9", which is definitely not a bad thing! Thanks for the level-headed review!
I wouldn't call it a G9 replacement. The G9 is a fast action sports camera which the S5 definetely isn't.
S5 hasn't retain separate settings for video or photos but you can programme custom settings to custom sections of the mode dial
would you choose this over xt3/xt4???.... the only really a bit off seems a af to me ( in video mode! maybee I could do a crop video to have better af) - aldow fuji seems to have in video also just contrast detection. anyway ibis is way ahead of fuji.... also panasonic is better build I think and fuji just aint to last 10 years of so ( yes I have a plan to keep my next upgrade 10 years)...
@@PavSZ thnx! continiue good work man! Love your energy on videos!
There is lots of videos out there hoe to get the best out of auto focus and how to make it work well
Freaking phenomenal video!
Thank you!!
gotta say good review Thanks
Woud you recommend this s5 over the a7 iii I Uk atm I can get them both at the same price.a bit sceptic about sony a7 as I see many reviews complaining about the shutter problem
I previously had a sony a6000
I have both and I am using S5 more. The AF in video is not as good (but not bad at all) but S5 gives soooo much more overall - better colour, in photos and video, better video formats, RAW 12bit video over HDMI, better screen and viewfinder and more.
Hello me I am on mac and after the download I can not extract the .bin file what to do?
I'm on mac too - you don't extract it, you just put on SD card
@@PavSZ Ok thanks you!
Is that a GPS tracker you have attached to the camera strap ring?
I think you are referring to Peak Design Strap locks
Excellent video 👏
Thank you very much!
I love your videos! You make me want to create more! Can I ask what the S&Q settings were for the clip shown between 3:40 and 3:43. Its a perfect speed!

absolutely! I use it for both photography and video.

@@palmhousebookrestoration3284 how are you liking the s5?
I enjoyed your video and I am considering this camera as an alternative (way less money) to an M10. Really what I would like to know is how this camera works with manual focus Leica M lenses?
Great overview Pav!
Because I am really considering this camera for my first professional workhorse camera because of its color science.
it makes zero difference in a real world situations. I never thought that I wish it had it
@@PavSZ Oh really!
Lmao... yeah right.
I'm sure you can hire one from somewhere. Much cheaper than buying one and hating it
@@PavSZ you’re right, and way ahead of you. I’m actually renting one out to test next week so we’ll see.
What's interesting is in Max Yuryev's video about the S5, the AF actually performed batter in 60fps as opposed to 24fps.
yes indeed because af in 60fps has more information to work with AF!
Id like to know if the FUll Frame Panasonic Anamophics have a wider reach than the 3/4ths GH cameras
El mejor acerca de esta cámara. Gracias.

hello, do you know how to deactivate the central box?
Do you mean the auto focus box? Switch to manual and it should go away
A very good review. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
I can't say I have noticed it but I wasn't looking for it
If you have to pick between a7c or s5 for vlogging which one would you pick?
a7c
Great review.
Thanks!
I am considering to buy the S5. Does the S5 have a clean HDMI out? I know it has a mini HDMi. But can I connect it to VMIX via a capture card? Help please.
it has clean HDMI out - if it didn't it would be impossible to record with it to Ninja V (I do).
Sony evfs are poor

Just watched your review and really enjoyed it. Goodluck with the channel. Just subscribed.
Awesome, thank you!
Would you recommend S5 for UA-cam one man army setup for product reviews/vlogs?
yes, if you ok with manual focusing
Isn’t it Vlog L not Vlog proper 3:40? Only reason is it’s my one major sticking point creating professional shorts for platforms eg Netflix does not approve this as an A shooter bc of vlog isn’t too spec. More than just a meaningless Netflix rating it does affect grading in post significantly however you can absolutely get the job done with vlog L. But I’m making sure I didn’t miss anything and hoping for clarity. Great review I’m looking for a more mobile a shooter and am on the fence with the S1 but this seems to just Nearly all the same !
I'm not an expert but it is called VLOG in the settings
Everything I have heard is that it is full v-log. I can't see spending the extra 500 on the S1, the only real difference is the card slots and the lack of recording limits in the 4k 10 bit modes on the S1. I would love to have no record limits, as I pretty much want this as a B Cam for interviews, but I I don't know if it's worth 500 extra when I can just record to my atomos and/or start/stop recording every 30 mins
It is full V Log and the colour science is just beautiful.
Which one would you prefer for cinematography sony M3 or lumix S5
both! I own both and I use Sony when I need to rely 100% on AF, like filming from the gimbal, everything else S5 is a better camera
I am a GH5s user. Can you jam sync the timecode like you can on the GH5s? I like to sync multiple cameras and audio sources using timecode.
I am still deciding between the R7 and the s5
only you can decide
Do tej pory Canon słynął z najładniejszych kolorków ale w momencie pokazania się na rynku S5 mamy nowego lidera w kwestii color science.
Pav SZ thanks man! Think I’m going towards the S5!
Great video. Newly subscribed
Awesome, thank you!
Why wouldn't you Go for Sony?
@@gxrsky because for the same price point the closest match is the older A7III and the Nikons beat that in almost every way except autofocus and they catching up to even that now.
Stop being lazy and use the Manuel setting for video or go buy a Go Pro.
why would i need an external monitor recorder that starts from ISO 640?
whats the point from shooting video internally?
ISO 640 for recording on monitor gives you worse dynamic range right away.
no it does not and you do get ApplePro res or RAW recording formats
@@PavSZ ISO 100 has 14.5 stops ISO 640 has 13.5 stops so 1 stop down for an fancy monitor ;)
I’m not getting autofocus performance this good on my s5 any advice?
There is a lot of videos out there showing how to get the best AF performance from S5
Nice Review
Looks good but not enough to swap from an MFT investment. Especially with worse evf, time limits, expensive lenses and less custom buttons! That omission makes no sense to me.
Really love Panasonic usability and the reliability for hybrid jobs is fantastic, but the L mount just hasn't hit the spot for me personally. I'd like something between the S1R and S5 with S1H screen. Thanks for the video.
The big differentiation vs. MFT is low light performance for both stills and video. Massive improvement over GH5.
Love the S5!

I purchased an S5 as well as a Sigma 14 - 24 mm F 2.8 and as much as I love it, I have had very poor results for Astro. I am at a loss as to why, as I have seen many excellent examples online of Astro. I have used the exact same settings, and although the star field looks great, I get mad noise in the fore grounds of my shots. At a loss.

How would the 20-60 compare to the 10-25 on a g9 say in terms of IQ? For the price of the 10-25 I can pay a little more and get the s5 with kit instead
Good question

Would this be a good camera for wildlife videography? How essential is autofocus for this?
not essential at all if use manual lenses or manual focus
