The problem is, if we let Halo fall off, they'll improve it to make more money. If we keep spending money and time on their half-baked games, they'll keep making money off of half-baked games.
I would have taken an honorable death of the Halo franchise after Reach, with MCC as a tribute/legacy money maker, over them putting out garbage that taints the nostalgic reminiscense of my once-loved childhood game.

It’s really bad. Most players have to check a million boxes just to get the same playlist they wanted before.
Going from MCC's match composer to Infinite's 3 playlists was criminal. Imagine if Infinite had just launched with half the content it has now + MC. Population would've stayed much higher

Another thing, quick play should be a BIG BUTTON you press from the get go on the main menu that searches EVERYTHING. You then have another button to customize what you want to search.

When I think of a match composer I think of Team Fortress 2's match selection: Toggle what modes you want to play, and toggle what maps you want to play on.
Plenty of Infinite's (and MCC for that matter) maps are simply not fun for me to play and I'd play these games a lot more if I could toggle what maps I match with.
Mint such a presence in our community and able to find such great modders and creators. He seriously should be part of the hiring team in 343.

I'd also say having an icon for "match composer" on screen is also a basic design choice that makes it clear to gamers what's going on. So they don't think content was taken away.
Good UI/UX design is hard to come by. Like you said, functionally, what 343 gave us works and I am glad they rolled it out, but it IS the bare minimum. I find that I am having more fun playing Infinite now that I can choose what I want to play AND I end up winning more it seems. That mock up by Bathrobe Spartan looked awesome though, props to him.
Only way bathrobe spartan is getting 343's attention is if he redesigns the store for increased profit, at least the preview icons wouldn't be stretched out lol.

This is what I 100% gaslit myself into thinking we were getting. I still can't find games, I couldn't find games in Tenrai IV on release day. Searching cross-playlist would've sped things up or at least let me find games, by opening up instead of narrowing down the search parameters.

The order of the modes particularly in quickplay is likely throwing many people off as they dont know where their favourite modes have gone. 47 modes is a pretty long list. Perhaps adding groups of modes which you can then go into and then select the specific modes from would be helpful for sorting the modes for quickplay in particular. Like have all the arena and community slayer options in one group for example. Then all Tactical Slayer variants (BR, Bandit Evo and Sidekick) in another, all the objective modes in one, etc.
A few more things Id love for them to add:
Team Doubles: Snipers/Shotty Snipes, Escalation, BR+AR Slayer and Objective modes, Bandit Evo Slayer, Dodgeball, Fiesta Slayer.
Squad Battle: BR+AR Slayer and Objective modes, Snipers/Shotty Snipes, Escalation, Fiesta Slayer, Skockets.
Rumble Pit: Bandit Evo Slayer, Tactical Slayer (Bandit Evo, Sidekick), Juggernaut
Last Spartan Standing (many variants/tweaks to the mode could be tested)
Prop Hunt (A dev made prop hunt mode would be fantastic in Infinite)
Grifball: TFF Grifball, TFF Super Grifball.
(16 Player) Community Mini Games: Infection (Forge Maps), Duck Hunt, Death Run, Goose Hunt, Hex a Gone, Castle Wars, Temperance Battle Royale, TFF Battle Royale, Race Maps, Ro Sham Bo, Sumo, Hot Potato, Dodgecoil.
They should change it. Menus are the easiest thing to make in game development.
343 Industries has been having it easy ever since they shut down the Halo forums. They're like EA, Ubisoft, and Blizzard at this point. The only outlets for review and community discussion are on UA-cam and Steam.
If 343 is moving on to the next Halo game and leaving Infinite then they should do what they did with MCC and give us a steam workshop (aka modding) but like MCC make it so it is a separate thing from the base game.
The community should just make a game that feels like Halo and looks like halo with all the stuff the community wants.
If they did this, ranked arena wouldn’t have been killed by the addition of 3 new ranked modes.

Map Composer. Let us choose the maps we want to play
An Idea where they can keep coatings to keep charging for them, but also satisfy people like me that always wanted a MM mode where you were not in red or blue but also miss the RVB aspect of multiplayer. they could make coatings the base color, and then the red or blue MP could be like spray painted over the top, make the red and blue coatings something that goes over the top of the players custom coating and allow parts of it to still show through while having the red and blue designations.
Its unbelievable how incompetent 343 and/or the management is that the community consistently outdoes them at virtually every turn....
It hurts that we’re not even 3 years into the game and they just abandoned it.
Now we’re never gonna get it because fans made it and 343 is gonna be butt hurt about it

I'm gonna go with the theory that doing anything more than Infinite's current Match Composer would require a complete rewrite of the UI code, which may eat more time than the devs are willing to put into at this point. Next game NEEDS this MC at launch, which with the switch to Unreal will hopefully be a lot smoother time implementing.

Its crazy how the community is making the maps, the battle royale, and now the UI. The community is out classing the developers and its kind of embarrassing.
The next update id want to see is an increase in XP gain for Career Rank. Add XP to medals earned during matches for each different medal type. Bring back 2XP weekends for Career Rank as well.
Really really hope they bring back like a really good UI for the next game not that hate infinites but I remember as a kid just sitting in the main menu on halo 2-3 and just listening to the music watching those screens or going through each unique screen for a really long time

I want to be able to select the maps I want to play on. Also, the one Firefight map is broken where you activate the 3 computers and the door to the Warthog is supposed to open up. It used to work but no longer does. And some rounds, there are hardly any enemies that show up. They need to fix this.
That map having broken recently is why I'm starting to wish we had map veto.
the total lack of focus on player experience that resulted in Halo infinite is a major part of why this game could not maintain altitude after taking off.
simple little things like this demonstrating what it looks like when it's done right should be done for every aspect of interface. since they can't do their jobs unless we literally show them how, I guess.

I think this is why I go back to play mcc instead of infinite just having different choices in a random faction without needed to change modes after every match
So this might just be me but wouldn't it be cool if you could choose any of the backgrounds in the main hub? I mean 343 could even make new backgrounds and sell em in the shop or in battle passes! Just sayn.

I’m grateful for the match composer but it’s shocking how 343 thought its implementation was good enough.
At this point the halo community might as well make the next halo game.
It just backs up my opinion that they should’ve just cloned all of the quality of life features from MCC into Infinite. Match composer, armor unlock system, service record, emblems, everything. Just make it look better and tweak it where it needed it. MCC has been boiled down to a science of all the things Halo should have and if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Imagine if that was at launch…. Maybe even the progression system???
To play devils advocate, just bc it’s looks nicer, doesn’t mean it’s functional. Functionality means it’s easy to understand and there is multitude of users who have tried it out and successfully completed their cta (call to action). I haven’t tried it, but someone let me now if it’s a great user experience
It’s so much better, bravo to that guy. Definitely isn’t anything wrong with giving them some appreciation if they do something right, but there’s also that thing of should’ve been there as people say and also just the fact 343 and Micro$oft has enough excuses by themselves without the community making up everything possible in spite of the community also making less reasons for them at the same time. Not saying to be a doomer or anything, but just to let them actually be held accountable and not overhype everything they are said to be doing until they actually do it.

Also let us turn off certain maps individually per playlist so that we don't have to play on terrible maps like Chasm. Also, let us save multiple match composer presets, so we can quickly swap between them.
They probably limit them and put em in quickplay cos the playerbase on halo isnt big enough to spread all those modes out. Also some modes that people want to play would take too long to search for if they werent in quickplay

Hold on, this is great, but we should also have map veto's before loading in at launch. and 434 should have a backend app insights or something in order to see which maps and modes are most commonly veto'd. Then use this data for better game modes and ect. I feel like there is no feedback loop on bad maps. ppl will quit out and there is no good stats on that that can correlate to the map and mode.
i just had a horrid thought. what if the halo ce remake thats rumored actually follows the "silver" timeline from the tv show....

Husky was the biggest loser in the match composer. It used to have estimated waits of 13 seconds. You'd spend more time loading games than finding them. Now it estimates my wait time around 1:40, and does take considerably longer than before to find a game.

I mean, the match composer also kills off the need for rotational playlists as well, except for ranked, so ideally, this limits the actual resources needed for a game in the long run.

This is part of a problem I've been seeing in a lot of games in the past several years with UI design. I almost feel like game studios aren't hiring UI Designers or Artists anymore and that's why so many games have shitty UI

Yesterday I had a few hours to play halo for my day off and to no surprise the only mode I can find a game on was slayer anything else was just stuck on a constant search it should have had the player count for each play list at least but NO that’s to much to ask for apparently.
