Funny enough, rather than confusing the pitch bend button (which I really seldom use in favor of physically bending with the platter), I do always pressed on the 45 accidentally when I think I was pressing on the start stop button
I'd want to change the split-cue and master in my headphones back and forth while dj'ing. I'm hoping that setting can be set to a pre-set, or a computer keyboard shortcut to swap. Can you confirm PJ?
I'm really surprised that Serrano and Pioneer did not link up and leave an internal feature. Once you have finished a mix you should be able to go in internal mode and just shut that side down. The other advantage to this is if you had a problem with one of your platters while you were at a gig you could just mix everything onto the live platter and then drag it over to the dead one on internal mode then you can bring all the songs in on the working platter and you can still get through the night. I'm sure it would be very easy for them to leave an internal mode
Just got mine yesterday. Loving it. But one thing I noticed that’s different from all videos I’ve seen is the jog wheel display. Mine just shows the waveform with no lines/beat markers. Is that a setting? Not a big issue cuz I still mix by ear. Also, I noticed that the stickers I placed on the platters naturally drift from 12-1 o’clock with continuos backspin/juggle practice. Have you had this issue?
Thanks Pri. ive just got delivery of mine and playing around with slip mats to replace the plastic inserts. i found using a cut out of butter rugs gave it a heavier feel but less slip. have you tried any and any thoughts on doing this?
Turns out things got even worse at my gig tonight, started making serato glitch out, and making everything bug out, had to end my gig 3 hours early. I’ve been reaching out to pioneer but this is ridiculous…
You'd think the 33/45 buttons could be an internal setting. Those buttons could be used as a cue button instead. Would make more sense! Thanks for the review!
the 33/45 buttons have to be hardware because they control the actual hardware speed. However, they are indeed MIDI mapable. While you can't remove the hardware function; if you map the CUE button to the 33, and you already play in 33rpm, it essentially can still be used as the CUE button.
@@priyonjoni I think they missed the mark on not having a cue button, and not having the ability to nudge the platter to shift the pitch properly. That and 2 balanced xlrs for both mics and booth outs.
I wish I could browse my collection by cover art, like the real vinyl ages and not text based like nowdays in EVERY software out there. Just hoping Pioneer will figure it out and adopts in a FW update. So if I touch the browse button it goes into cover mode, and the stopped platter’s display changes accordingly. Would be a nice feature if its selectable in the menu.
Isn’t that a natural way to make song selection in the vinyl ages? Even in bad lit conditios I could recall the song from the cover/label art. That way many of our old guys mind were working... had no idea of the rest, but the “red label with the stripper girl on it, logo side, 3.track” will be a good one now or 5 minutes later.... it worked like that 20 years ago....
Every one remembers music differently. Some folks remember title and artists. Others remember the key. Some remember from album artwork. I myself only remember a feeling at events. That's why my crates are organized by events, and sub categorized by genre. With that said, Serato allows you to view album artwork. As well as most of the major DJ software, if not all.
I think yo have the best reviews… so I wonder if you could please help: Just got Rev7 for Xmas… plugged it in. No audio drivers! Downloaded audio driver file from Pioneer DJ & installed it. Rev 7 still doesn’t work. Still reads no audio driver. Any ideas??
Open the DDJ-REV7 Setting Utility. It is in your application folder on a Mac. Newer versions of macOS have this issue where you need to always open the Settings Utility before opening Serato to get your display to work.
I always do this. Rev7 shows as “connected” on Utility forded. But when I load a track on Serato Pro, there’s no sound at all. Can’t even see LED lights come on!!
I’m struggling with how to activate and use beat jump on the Rev 7. Got all the boxes ticked in settings, but can’t find activation controls on top of Rev 7. Can you help?
What does the 'SAMPLER FX' shift function do on the Smooth Echo button. I've searched through the manual, and tried to experiment with it, but I haven't been able to work it out yet.
Bend keys are like going back to the 90s cd players. Why are we going backwards here? Shouldn't the vinyl have a scratch mode and bend mode like the controllers before it?
The first pre-orders will be distributed all through February. Specific arrival dates are dependent on the different distributors. Whatever arrival date your distributor stated is what it should be for your order.
@@priyonjoni awesome! Because my Rev7 arrived literally 4 hours ago... And I always like to have a second power supply for traveling/gigs and the original one installed in the studio. Keep up the GREAT work, DJ!
Yes but with a caveat. Despite MIDI mapping it, it doesn't stop being a 33/45 button because that is part of the hardware firmware, which is not something you can disable.

Just got mine! Thanks for the great advice PJ, excited to start using mine!
How much do you got it im from Nigeria I need to get one please can you help me
Thanks for sharing your experience with the Rev7 and giving a feedback from your gig. Looking forward getting the Rev7!
Congrats on your purchase!
Tight review Pri. Looking like I might need this set up one day. Thanks.

Great perspective. Many different things to think of. 👍🏻
8:15 did this with my Rane One 🤣 learned to just keep my headphones around my neck 😭
Love this! Great Job Pri! 😃🙌🏼
yeah this is a good video concept; you should make more of them on other equipment and software settings. tips 'n' tricks always help out a lot
Great Video!!
Is there a way to access scratch banks B,C,& D from the Rev7 Controller itself or just from the Serato DJ software...
Such a helpful video, thank you!
Brilliant 👏🏾

Folks how turn off the rotation marker ?
double click the 33 or 45 button
@@priyonjoni very easy...tks !!!
Do that Peter Yon Joni Piper routine with the Rev 7 please
How do I turn off the marker on the Rev7? Because I find it very annoying especially since it’s only on one side. Thanks 🙏🏾!!!
Thanks Pri. ive just got delivery of mine and playing around with slip mats to replace the plastic inserts. i found using a cut out of butter rugs gave it a heavier feel but less slip. have you tried any and any thoughts on doing this?
Use cutouts if wax paper. Start with two, then see if one is better.
@@priyonjoni thanks a lot for the tip!

Would be cool to have track info on the waveform view..
You can switch the view to virtual deck.

It’s in one of the pad modes. It might be in Roll.

When you play a sample, to use sampler fx hold the shift button and then press Sampler Fx button
Great input always .One question which Laptop stand do you use Thanks?
Odyssey for gigs. But for my home desk, it's this one amzn.to/3JlH5cX
Thanks for this! Where did you position your camera to get the overhead shots for this video?
It’s mounted to the ceiling on a projector mount with a quarter inch screw for the camera.
Ah I see, thanks for this!
Do the pitch bend buttons continuously bend when you press them? I feel like mine only do a slight nudge. It’s not like using that bend keys in Serato

How much is the price and where can I get some (am in Ghana)
Well the Rev 7 is $1899 us...so about 12,153 cedi. Not sure about how to purchase from Ghana
Thank you for the tips! I take it that the release date for 2/25 still holds?
The first pre-orders will be distributed all through February. Specific arrival dates are dependent on the different distributors. Whatever arrival date your distributor stated is what it should be for your order.
does only the right deck plater brings up the menu screen for thr settings?
You can bring up the utility menu on either deck. What determines left or right is which Back button you hold to open the menu.
I see you are using a different power adapter (the plug isn't right angled). Where did you get it?
I’m testing out a couple alternative power supplies. Video coming soon.
@@priyonjoni awesome! Because my Rev7 arrived literally 4 hours ago...

How do you add your logo on the display mode ?
Use the logo transfer utility
is it possible to midi map the 33/45 buttons?

@@priyonjoni thanks a lot for this information🙏
I think the torque is not as good as rane one
Why is the pitch at the top? How do you mix like that? Looks awful. Am I missing something? Why isn’t the pitch on the side like normal?
It's battle style for turntablists. This is the way they set it up during competition
