I run the Xeon E5-2696V4 (same cpu but 100mhz higher single core boost) with a RX 7800XT. Having no issues so far with great performance on games for a xeon!
Atlast elaphant in the room :) still i would say it's easier to mod chinese boards than branded boards with V3 cpu's if you ever decided to still get 2699v3 or 2696v3 . However Miyconst would help you with bios mod. How much did you pay for your e5 2699v4 ?
Couple years ago I went down the Xeon rabbit hole trying to find a decent one for gaming in a sturdy workstation case like z440. My problem was that the cheap ones I found would either be 4 core 8 thread like E5 1620 v3 or like 10+ core and locked low(ish) clock frequency. And even the best I could find would not perform as good as a simple Ryzen 5 3600 on a b450 mobo and with ordinary ddr4 3200.
Absolutely. The Ryzen 5 3600 offer great performance but older Xeon processors have their advantages too. They are typically more affordable, have high reliability, and are built for durability. One thing that is the most import is availability.
Have you ran it through Cinebench yet? I have a 2680 v4, and was disappointed that my multi core score was 661. I’d consider the 2699a v4 if it has a score closer to 1000.
Yo can you also try putting all sliders in gta5 to minimum? It is extremely cpu demanding and even on my 5800x I get only 80fps sometimes with large lobby and min slidders
the moment i try 1x on frame scale it reached 80-90fps. i tried minimal and it did the same 80-90fps. because of the long edit i said that`s the best and if someone ask i tell them. So... me here saying 😋 on minimal it can do nearly to 90fps. i think minimal will be better. less stutter but i did liked the max quality 🤭
That's some cpu, according to a couple of benchmarks it outperforms my e3 1270 v5 by over 200%. Thanks for showing it & im guessing you have to return it to your pension fund before they notice it's gone
So I have a question for you. I have a T5810 Dell Precision computer. My son bought a computer from his friend who said it was something it wasn't and he ended up with only a Gigabyte Geforce RTX3060 video card. The processor was supposed to be a 10th gen and was actually only a 3rd gen I5 and either the board or CPU are bad because it shuts off right after you push power. So I was looking at buying a E5 2699 v4 processor and 4 16gb sticks of 2166 ram for the T5810 which will give a total of 80GB ram. We were going to install a m.2 on a pcie card for the storage. It will cost $200 total for the memory, processor, m.2 adapter, and wifi/bluetooth pci e card. Do you think this is a good option and price? Will the slower 2166 memory be fine or should I purchase the 64gb of 2400 RAM and just remove the slower 16GB we already have in the T5810? Thanks for the help.
@@DanielCardei Thank you for your quick response! I have another question, do you think it's a good investment the e5 2699 v4 processor or do I have a better time to buy an e5 1680 v4 that has a higher frequency? I'm afraid that multitasking is too light for the e5 1680 v4?
I think multie task its perfect. Every new gpu i test its with this cpu. I tested that 1640 but I'll take this all day. But BUT 2699v3 you OC it. It has a few less cores but its better on Hz. This v4 has more cache. At end of the day you need to see what you can afford. I never tested this cpu with aps but maybe in the future.
@@DanielCardei If I understood correctly, I have more interest in buying an e5 1680 or 1640 rather than a 2699, is that right? Thank you very much really, I'm new in it and I'm a little lost haha

@@DanielCardei Yes, absolutely right! performance is significantly higher without HT, tested personally on my 2689v4, It is especially noticeable in the games of the far cry series and in Warcraft 3.

don`t ask please
I got a 2699v3 the other day for $40. It replaced my i7-5820k. I unlocked and it is awesome for what I do. Not a gamer but use it for my DAW.
Thats alot of cores and threads on that xeon bravo.💪
i`ll use every one of them.

Its a good cpu ngl
Surely you can try XMP with a board that supports it. Or mod your BIOS for it. Broadwell-E's IMC can easily take DDR4 3200.
In the first 20 sec of the video, you already earned a sub from me😁

Ddr4 2400 max
