None actually. I did this mod before even considering adding weight and i haven't had a need to since. That said, i recently installed a 1750kv motor and that weighs 29 grams more than the 1960. With the added weight itnflew exactly the same but with a bit more thrust. These canards greatly mitigate that nose heavy feel when you trim them separately front the elevons
@fern6978 the "up trim" i have in the canards isn't even visibly noticeable. You're seeing the "up" in the video before i show the deflection. This mod completely mitigates the need to run tail weight AND increases the flight envelope by a good margin. Id hardly call needing up trim problematic given the benefits.
@Chuck_theModfather Up trim is drag and the issue is the underweight plastic cased EDF they used from the factory. It needs the heavier alloy cased fan that has more power AND the proper tailweight to all for a neutral cg. We figured this out after the first flight. Simple fix. You could modify the battery bay to slide the pack back easily. Doesn't need new canards, just the correct cg. It's night and day man.
@fern6978 the goal here was to drastically change flight characteristics WITHOUT cutting up the plane. Its an alternative that works extremely well. Im nit sure if you're understanding that i didn't need the up- trim on thw canards until AFTER i installed the new canards. Which really wasn't necessarily an up trim, but a change in the neutral position over the factory canards due to the fact that they alre a complete different shape. Since this video i actually have installed thr 40mm diameter 1750kv motor and made ZERO trim adjustments even after the added 29 grams of a heavier motor. Got 40 bucks and some vacuum hose (judging by the catfish in your pic you probably do). Try it out! You'll see exactly what i mean! Nice car btw. I had a nitrous fed 2002 hard top.
The heresy is strong with this one... !
JK, that must be a fun nugget to fly around with that setup!
Yes! Yes it is! And i love it! 🤣🤣🤣
How much weight do you have in the tail using the SMC 6200s? Thanks.

You don't need uptrim on your canards, you're just extremely nose heavy. Try going back an inch on the cg... Night and Day.
With the same battery, in the same position, she flew fine before i put the Grippen canards on.
@Chuck_theModfather I'm 20mm aft of the manual's cg and it's neutral, but the design of these canards are definitely the issue.
