  • Harley Davidson came out this year with a new and improved softail Street Bob that featured the Milwaukee 8 114 engine on the Street Bob, which made it very competitive with the Low Rider S. However, there are some key differences that help differentiate the two based on your needs. Let's take a look at some of the specs and features of both the Harley Davidson Low Rider S and the Softail Street Bob, and see which one could be a better fit for your needs.

    Love them both.......Bought the Street Bob!
    Low rider S, I just couldn't justify the extra cost and nothing more!

    I debated between the two for so long. I went with a street bob (2020, so not the flashy tank design). I personally liked the minimalist style, and all the upgrades I did to it (Road warrior fairing, 2-1, high flow intake, saddlemen) I was going to do on the LRS also. So saving the money up front for the bike helped justify buying the mods while still being under LRS MSRP. The tank size is really the only thing I don't like, but it's nice and wide and it looks good, even on longer trips I'm not so worried about the distance per tank as after 100+ miles, stepping off for a few is nice for me. Being able to commute a few days more without filling up is where I would value a larger tank. The gauge is honestly one of my favorite features and I was skeptical at first too. Being that my bike has the 107 engine isn't bad either, it still pulls and has great power and it's a blast to give it throttle and go cruising. If I were to go for more long distance, that'll be my excuse to move up to a Road Glide, as having bag space would be a huge plus also. All in all, I wanted good power and something that would look great and feel great and I don't regret choosing it over a LRS.

      Love it, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Like you said, I really like being able to go a few days without having to fill up, just because it’s kind of a pain for me to get to a gas station from my house. I think for me, I wanted to get a bike that would hold me over as long as possible till I REALLY need a bagger, and I feel like the LRS can be utilized as a baby bagger. Thanks for watching Indiawhiskey!

    The Street Bob is a cool bike but more for the guy who wants to go bar to bar. The Low Rider S on the other hand has the bigger tank and you can go farther distances, which is great. However, those mid controls would limit how far you would be able to ride. Just my opinion though. As far as performance though engine wise they are the same. Suspension wise, I would go take a look at the Big Bear Choppers video they did on the Low Rider S inverted front end. Overall I think both bikes are good buys. Just the Low Rider S is packed with all the things that are in right now, mids, dual disc front brakes, inverted front end, mx bars, and a small fairing. This is one of the best things Harley has done. They have incorporated all these parts that people would buy in the aftermarket world and included it already on the bike.

      Very well put HA. Like you said, the low rider s is one of the best things Harley has put out in a while, give the people what they want!

    I traded my street bob in for a Lowrider ST, or both are excellent, I think if you’re entry-level cash wise the street Bob is a legitimate bike, you can get yourself on a Harley brand spanking new for not a whole lot of money, and you can do a lot, for an extra $5000 you can make that thing your own

    Good point about the cable length on the Street Bob. I spent a long time choosing (SB114 vs LRS) which bike to buy, watched a lot of reviews and opinions of owners and ended up buying Street Bob because in my case it's a second bike for town riding + I'm not a racer and I always liked the classic look of the bike.
    The main disadvantage of the SB114 is the brakes. I will be changing the brake disc to an Arlen Ness 15".
    The second disappointment is the Passanger pillow - it is absolutely crap and needs to be rebuilt or replaced with Saddelmen or other options.
    I think, if you have bike for journey and you choose second bike - Street bob 114 - great choose

    • @IronBornRider
      @IronBornRider  2 роки тому

      Agree, I don't know why HD would put a 114 engine with a single disc. Go figure. I agree the Street bob is a killer 2nd bike for around town and some day trips. So nimble and feels light, and yet still has a lot of power.

    • @AJnkns
      @AJnkns 2 роки тому +1

      @@IronBornRider I think the main reason is the wheel width. The LRS has - 120 mm, the SB114 - 100 mm - this means that two discs will not provide much stopping power because the SB114 has a smaller contact patch than the LRS.

    I like the price point of the SB but that is about it. I don't like the tank design, the spoked wheels, single disc brake, and the super minimal instrument reader. As for the LRS, it is completely opposite, only thing I don't like about it is the price point haha

    • @IronBornRider
      @IronBornRider  2 роки тому

      Have you ridden the streetbob? I was really skeptical about the digital dash but it’s really well thought out. But yeah the design of the streetbob just doesn’t do it for me. The LRS has a hefty price tag, but honestly it’s been worth every penny lol

  • @mattoo6389
    @mattoo6389 2 роки тому +3

    I was also choosing between both models, in the end I went FXLRS because of the tank size and subtle tank graphics. The MAG wheels over spoked wheels was also another reason.

    I bought a Bob before they came out with the new Low Rider. While there are times I think the LRS with 117 would be a nice bump from Bob but there’s not enough to make me switch. I can add most everything to Bob and come out spending less at this point

  • @albodoin

    I'm sort of in the same position right now, but between the Low Rider S and the Fat Bob.. after the test drive I'm torn between having the bigger tank on the LRS or the comfort of the Fat Bob

    • @IronBornRider
      @IronBornRider  2 роки тому +1

      For me the tank size is largely what helped me decide. I love not having to feel like I need gas at every ride or thinking about where I need to fuel up next. Both bikes are killer tho

  • @TrustyZ900

    Sorry, but a '23 in both models, the LRS base is only $1200 more than a Street Bob. 117 vs. 114 USD forks, dual front discs. LRS is way cooler looking IMO. Bought a '23 black LRS with TBR turnout. Dig it.

    • @IronBornRider
