Another American here. I've been a diehard back when they returned in 96 - and went to the first game at McGill stadium - the Nov 2 playoff game in '98 against the Lions. I've always had the Als to root for. My son went to the Grey Cup parade and got to hoist the Grey Cup with a photo of Almondo Sewell. We're going to enlarge that photo and the one of Philpot catching the game-winner. What a great story - what a great game - GO ALS GO!
I was there when Philpot got knocked out a year ago by a dirty hit to the head. I was literally a few rows from where it happened, so it happened right in front of me. I could feel the air getting sucked out of the stadium and to see him catch the grey cup winning touchdown a year later was seriously something you could only see in a movie.
@@jeremieboisvert6603 I saw that game on TV. Brutal hit. I was at the 2000 Eastern Final when we played the Bombers and Philpot's father - Cory Philpot - so nice to the family together at the end of this Grey Cup congratulating their son.
I've been listening/watching the CFL from down in the states since 1990. Its amazing how the Grey Cup outdoes itself every year. The game had such great flow. Props to the zebras last night for only 6 penalties, and staying largely uninvolved.
I'm still hurting from the Bombers' loss, but I'm hurting even more that the CFL is now in the off season. As an American, I have grown to love to CFL MORE than the NFL. I can't wait until May 2024!!
I have been a CFL fan for over five decades. I have never been prouder than now after watching a Grey Cup game for the ages. I am so happy that you, an American, is one of a growing number of American football fans who are discovering the incredible product north of the border. It’s fast, physical and unique and has never been better than now. I am beaming as an ALS fan but would never rub salt in the wound of the diehard Winnipeg fans. I have the utmost respect for the consistently powerhouse teams the Winnipeg Blue Bombers have put on the field, year after year. Let’s face it though, nobody gave the ALS a chance against either Toronto or Winnipeg but they shocked everyone, me included. I saw a car with a Alouette flag and man, did it look good. People in this city finally have a champion and we are so proud of this team and the miracle they accomplished.
Brings me so much happiness to see americans start to watch. Every year I see our little league grow. I hope one day nfl media will start to acknowledge it. Lots of people refuse to watch it out of stubborn pride so seeing more and more people get sucked in brings me so much joy
That was one of the purest, most exciting football games I've ever seen, two fumbles, two interceptions and not many penalties. The bonus for me is that my Alouettes pulled off the upset!
Incredible editing of a momentous, iconic Grey Cup game. Whoever was responsible for this video has captured the culmination of excitement and intensity that existed in this game. Especially in the final moments. Well done.
Even with that recap I feel the nerves of the game... That was THE game for ages. Montreal... WOW. Just WOW. PS. That was a first Grey Cup that I watched. Thanks for CFL+ for allowing a Russian to watch, didn't expect it. Can't wait for the new season. I'm still learning the intricacies of the game, but 110th Grey Cup was SO AWESOME, I was shaking after the game-winning drive by Alouettes as it had three clutch plays in a row - Fajardo running for 15 yards, then passing to Spieker and then a game-winning TD to Philpot, Fajardo is MVP for a reason.
In the 110 years of competing for the Grey Cup Montreal and Winnipeg have each appeared numerous times and this is the first time they played each other here. I love the CFL.
OMG, one of the best videos I have seen on UA-cam for a long time. I have goosebumps. Winnipeg in my mind is still a dynastie, in todays market to dominate like they did is incredible, but Montreal coming in with a team effort like this is just Amazing. Their defense seem to hurt other players, damn !!! I would not want to play against them. One of the best football game ever all leagues (NFL, College or even CFL) just great great football. Thank you CFL for this awesome cinematic game recap. I love it
Such a great edit! Just under 9 minutes I felt all the feels. Great game! Love how passionate the players are, how meaningful the victory is, especially when they were expected to finish dead last. Congratulations Montreal, that victory was so very well earned.
Such a good edit of an unbelievable game. Who said Canadian football is boring with 3 downs... This was exceptional level competition on both sides. Disney like finish, what a great Cup and a bit of a steal but we will take it!
well, it does not attract much people as the league has experienced a drop in audiences in multiple markets. I grew up with it and in my young years we would never have access to American football, so CFL was the epitome. Now, with Internet and cable why would you ever watch Canadian football with 3 downs and ground plays galore? Luckily this has changed in the past few years and while the League cannot still compete with the NFL, it is making headways in the right direction and this Final was a testimony to exciting Canadian style football. I think it will go down in history as the greatest CFL game ever played. Too bad our market is so small it cannot attract huge money. @@teo_heel

Why don't they do super bowl winners vs cfl winners as like a friendly match. Or is iy because cfl is no where near as good. New fan to nfl from UK so don't know much about it
There're multiple reasons why CFL vs NFL games are not happening anymore. First reason is that there're quite a lot of different rules between CFL and NFL. In CFL there're three downs instead of four in NFL, in CFL there's no touchback on kickoff and there's a possibility of a single point on every kick that lands in end zone, there's also no fair catch rule as well, quite a lot differences in kicking game between CFL and NFL. There's forward movement of receivers before a snap in CFL that is not allowed in NFL. There's a yard between offence and defense before a snap in CFL (no such thing in NFL, there's no gap between offence and defense). And also NFL has better talent... only twice CFL won against an american football team... and that were an AFL teams (Buffalo Bills, who lost to Hamilton in 1961 and Columbus Bullies, who lost to Winnipeg in 1941 (even before formation of CFL as a league)).
Where? Sorry, but this comment has no business being here as Canadian Football is the first to evolve from rugby into its own in 1861, only 8 years later first American Football game was played. And this game was great, full of awesome plays like Austin Mack's one hand catch, Kabion Ento's awesome change of route to intercept the pass, Cody Fajardo's clutch in the last minute. And that's only what Montreal showed to win the Grey Cup (that was instituted in 1909). Winnipeg had some moments too, like Kenny Lawler's catch, awesome goal line stop in the end of 2nd quarter, Evan Holm's interception. CFL is a lot of things but it's not a bush league for sure.
This the worst take I’ve seen yet. Basically all the calls were in Winnipeg’s favor. The roughing on Collaros early shouldn’t have been called, when the Bombers stood them up on the goal line there was a missed defensive offsides call, and Mack’s insane 1 handed catch was clearly PI but no flag was thrown. Literally everything was against Montreal and they still pushed through and won
