I will be watching this incredible game over and over. This has to be the 10th time if watched the final drive and still shed a tear of joy accompanied with shivers of excitement. My beautiful team The Montreal Alouettes that I have watched and rooted for many decades. This is their finest moment. The game ranks as one of the best I have ever seen North or south of the border. The city I have lived my entire life in really needed something to cheer. The ALS provided that and exceeded our wildest dreams as football fans. I think that, after reading what heart broken Bomber fans said, they exhibited ‘class’ in their congratulatory tone that the better team won. Bravo Winnipeg! Respect!
I cry every time I watch this (and I have watched this many times). I LOVE MY ALOUETTES! I was there in person and I cannot tell you how much joy this team has given me. The 2023 Montreal Alouettes - Grey Cup Champions!!!!!!
Even though my Bombers didn't win this was a thrilling finish to a Grey Cup game! They were a first down, a tackle, or a 3rd down stop from winning it but give the Als credit for pulling this victory out of the fire!
Thanks. I can't get enough of that game. You guys did a great job calling the play. My brother and I went to our first Grey Cup and it was fantastic. Alouette fans, of course. (Side note. The video quality on this is not the greatest)
I think it would be a great idea to have a CFL Team in Quebec City. The CFL is very popular there, and they have a population of 1 million people. Plenty of money and interest to put a great team on the field.
Marshall, thanks for putting this together! I watched the original game on TV with Rod and Glen but this version in on another level! You and Dusty are phenomenal! Seriously, the new guard is lit!
This was my 54th Grey Cup and let me say this was one of the biggest upsets in GC history. I had a bad feeling about the Als before the Toronto game and sure enough my Boatmen were scuppered. Happily I bet the Als and got points and the extra satisfaction of hearing Bomber fans moan and groan . Nothing is impossible in the world of three downs!!
That 4th quarter pick ended up with the Als getting the ball on the Bomber 30 YL and then scoring to pull ahead. That sack on 2nd and 4 was huge forcing the Bombers to punt from the 5....and then a crappy punt by Sheehan ends up being run back to their 30. That sequence and the Collaros end zone pick were the difference makers in the Bombers walking away with the Cup or allowing them to march the field in the dying minutes to win it
Welcome! Anyone behind the line where the ball is kicked from could recover it. Often in late game desperation situations teams will try to punt and have an onside player recover it to get a bigger chunk than is possible with the circus laterals or Hail Mary.
@@TSN_Marsh Correct me if I'm wrong, but would the game be not over if Winnipeg would've recovered the ball and there would be "no yards" penalty against Montreal? The game can't end on the penalty that is beneficial for offence, right?
I think James Fletcher Jr. was injured as a result of an uncalled piling on penalty, which is why Philpot took over punts. Check back to Fletcher’s last punt return and you’ll see the uncalled infraction. It may have been accidental, but Fletcher JR. was down and out when a Bomber landed on him. Officiating was pretty pathetic. Look at Austin Mack’s one handed catch. No flag. Pathetic.
The one handed catch by Austin Mack was incredible, but having the defender pulling him made it an unbelievable catch. The official should have call an interference penalty.
are you serious? we had our all star lineman pierre olivier lestage out, keion julian grant out, reggie white jr out greg ellingson out nafees lyons out go als
@@andretrepanier8170 despite both playing, they were not factors in the game.....for us to win they needed to be and they simply weren't able. Bailey was also playing with a partially torn hamstring and he caught one pass. The margin for victory for either team was narrow and Montreal to their credit took advantage of their opportunities in the final two minutes, lead by Fjardo who willed them to victory. It was a classic finish to a hard fought game and the Bombers came up short defensively on that last drive. Calvillo called a masterpiece last drive and Fjardo executed to perfection. At this point in the season all teams are nicked up and our best two players couldn't play close to their capabilities and for us to have won against an equally nicked up Als team, they needed to be factors and they just weren't. That's football and the Als overcame their injuries and made a few more plays than the Bombers and were deserving of the win.
@@andretrepanier8170 well yes, in recent history as Edmonton won 5 consecutive GCs from 77-82 in a no-cap era. I really think all the media pre-game hype about reaching "dynasty" status spooked them a little. The interesting stat in the Bombers 4th appearances, was the fact that Zach Collaros was the only QB to appear in 4 consecutive Cups. His stats in those 4 games however are underwhelming as he has yet to throw a TD strike in any of those 4 games and he also has 4 picks against....so there's that. Cody threw 3 TD strikes to Zach's 0 and in his very first GC appearance......plus he finally beat the Bombers after 9 straight losses and never a win against Collaros.....so he got two monkeys off his back with the win.

My late dad was a life long Als fan . We watched a few Grey Cups together . He would have loved this.
I live in Regina, Saskatchewan, and I have always liked Cody Fajardo! I am so very happy for him and the Montreal Alouettes for this amazing win!
Great man right there!
Great job Marshall, thanks for sharing the radio broadcast of an incredible championship game (Grey Cup 110). 👍

Epic. Never get tired of this.
Absolutely incredible! I would say that this is the second-greatest Grey Cup I've ever seen after the 97th back in 2009.

One of the craziest ending in Grey Cup history
The call by Neilsen on the TD was epic

This was my first. For betters and Argo fans this was an upset. Without a couple of calls and breaks, the Als would have won by 3 touchdowns.
A bigger upset than the one in 2009 when the Riders had 13 men on the field for the last play?
Tuck had heck of a game

New to the rules: what was Winnipeg trying to do at the end?

@@TSN_MarshOkay thanks. That might have work, the two guys blocking did a horrible job protecting the kicker.

The Bombers needed both Bighill and Schoen to be 100% to win this Cup and they were at 50% and they didn't.....

First team making it to 4 straight grey cups is quite impressive.
