What I thought? One of the most Beautiful places ever, One of the Best tracks I have ever seen hands down, And the sound of that bike is music to the the soul.
Best part, dude kicks bike over and it fires straight away. That’s how a cr500 should start. If you are kicking it forever or it is kicking back at you something is wrong. I always think it’s funny when others get ready like there gonna get flung over the handle bars, or it’s gonna break their leg. What a machine 👍
No offense to the rider, he’s an awesome rider, waaay better than me BUT people who weren’t raised on these bikes don’t know that you need to shift them up. The band on a 500 is only about this big > < and he’s riding it past its power., there’s nothing there. You can do that on modern 4 strokes but not on the 500 2 stroke
If somehow the AMA allowed a Top 10 guy to race this in the 450 Nationals, it could probably go two full seasons and only need a set of rings replaced for mantainence.
500 2 strokes were a big part of my life in the 80's and 90's. You are right. It sounds like that bike is not tuned properly. Seems like it's having trouble pulling the weight of the rider. I never had that issue cause my bikes were always running strong, and I only weighed 155 pounds so I could really get my 500's cooking! Weight does make a difference!
