Maybe just do one or two fairs a year so you can still have the fun experience but still be able to focus your time on where the money is right now. In the case of customers messaging and saying they didn’t receive their order, and after waiting for the mailman to deliver after couple days of marking it delivered, I have known of far FAR too many scammers to do that, so I definitely do not believe the customers upfront outright so easily.
Me again! 😂 I just finished watching your video and I 100% agree and understand why you cancelled the market. We did the same thing last weekend,because we found out it would end up being at least a 12 hour day because of the parking and shuttle busing vendors to get their cars & only at a certain time could you get your car, etc and we can’t physically do that, it’s way too demanding & the heat adds to the discomfort. I’m working on 2 big sporting events for a school that are due by next Friday and then I have another big event with them in September and one in October and I make a lot more money at these sporting events than I do at the craft shows. We’re learning to not do as many shows and doing these 4 big events and just a few more big craft shows we know will bring in a lot of money and eliminating the smaller shows. Our mental and physical health is so important and I’m glad you made the choice you did!! Keep up the great work you’re doing! 🎉❤
Careful with telling customers to open cases on Etsy. With the crackdowns on closing shops, Etsy has said that shops that have a lot of refunds covered by Etsy are getting flagged in their shutdown crawls of the site.
It was so fun seeing my order get packed! I absolutely love it! I did my citrus coaster, and I think it turned out pretty good for a first. I ordered some fabric. Can't wait to try out my frame. I spend lots of time sitting and waiting on my daughter at theater rehearsals. I am excited to have something new to do. I love your videos and am always excited to see a new one post. I'm slowly getting closer to the verge of opening a shop, but one of my main questions is about mailing; how do you know how much the shipping cost is to account at check-out, how do you get the labels pre-printed so that you DONT have to pay shipping at the post office and is that all connected through some platform? Any advice is appreciated, thank you so much! Keep up the great work! :D
@@alannaavina That’s so exciting!! I buy shipping labels on Shopify and Etsy. Most packages I weigh before printing the label but for the keychains I have their weight and package dimensions in the system so that the labels can be printed before I’ve packed the orders!

@@MissyPippyCrafts I would love to offer insight. Please don’t let all that scare you. It’s so much learning as you go and figuring things out along the way! Some important things include general liability insurance if you’re doing markets, sales tax permit (if you’re in NH you don’t need that), and some type of system in place for tracking sales and expenses so all of that is available come tax time (we use Inuit quickbooks but used excel for the first 3 years). I hope this helps and I could elaborate on a future “packing podcast” :)
I had a customer's order go all the way to one of the Cuban Islands, I wish I remembered which one it was, but it got all the way there and back to where it was meant to go. I don't understand how it got that far because it was just a decal so postage was like $1 and the poor thing was only going to the next town over from me which is like 45 minutes away lol. The customer and I laughed so hard, because when it showed up it had all these custom stickers all over it.
