    THE first tutorial that was both educational as well as informative, great job thank you. I have been trying to get this working in 2.83 for weeks!!

    I have only previously created basic things in Blender. I'm fairly new and just kinda stretching my legs a little. I had previously done something with fire in after effects and trapcode and I just didn't like the quality. For the last week I have been venturing out, thinking, "Man, I know I can make it look better...blender has to have better stuff to use." (Which is absolutely correct)...but I've been spending the last week trying to figure out how to do fire and give it the quality and attention it needed. All week I've run into road blocks, watching tutorials, learning, and just experimenting with everything. THIS VIDEO! was the missing link! Thank you so much for this vid, it was everything I needed and then some. I can't wait to make more stuff now! Absolute win!

    "... then jump over to the compositor and add in some glow" (opens compositor, adds denoise node and finishes the tutorial) 😂 Glad I know how to add glow 😉

    • @BlenderMadeEasy
      @BlenderMadeEasy  4 роки тому +4

      Yeah this part I actually messed up. I did add the glow but it didn't do anything for the render so I cut it out but I forgot to cut out the part where I said "... then jump over to the compositor and add in some glow" :D
      If you want to add glow just add a glare node in the compositor and play around with the threshold.

    Awesome, real quick magic. Remember dealing with fluids in Maya was realy painful

    • @SuperemeRed
      @SuperemeRed 4 роки тому

      I agree, but this looks very primitive to how realistic the Maya fluids can get. Check out Embergen if you want to pick up your jaw from the floor. Real time fluid simulations, I've seen nothing like it and done some awesome fire in it, probably 100x faster in work hours than Maya.

    Another way you can eliminate smoke is go to the domain physics properties, find "Flame Smoke" in "Fluid > Settings > Fire", and set the value to 0. I believe it works faster when you don't have to bake the smoke.

  • @k-ab7957
    @k-ab7957 4 роки тому +4

    Little trick I found out: If you want the gradient to follow the intensity of the fire (i.e.: one colour "inside" the fire another on the "outside" you just have to plug the Attribute flame node into the Colour Ramp, and voila. :)

    • @BlenderMadeEasy
      @BlenderMadeEasy  4 роки тому +1

      Oh nice! Yeah I would love to see it! You can do that but you would have to set up a vertex group and assign it just to that face. Then in the inflow settings select the vertex group. If you don't do this the entire sword will emit fire.

    Thats awesome. I uploaded 2.82 about a month ago so getting my head around the new settings for the fire & smoke sims is a bit frustrating. One thing iv'e never been able to work out is how to start a simulation later in the time line say frame 50 ? all the simulations I see on youtube always start at frame 1 in the time line. The best I can achieve is a static simulation from frame 1 to where I want it to begin (say frame 50 on the time line ) then the simulation begins which gives me the first 50 frames of a static simulation. Maybe you could do a tutorial on how to do that ? I'm probably missing something basic but I just can't seem to figure it out.
    Cheers, keep up the good work & keep the tutorials coming.

    • @Bestman8
      @Bestman8 4 роки тому +2

      your missing something rll basic select the domain scroll all the way down in the physics settings till you find something called cache under there you should find frame start and frame end and if you put frame start at 50 and frame and at 100 your sim will start at frame 50 and last 50 frames so it will end in frame 100

      Diego hi, thanks for the tip. But no, I reinstalled Blender and it helped. For the fire. That being said, when creating the gradient color, I had to use different color ramp settings to achieve the same effect. It is weird.

    Flames do not show in rendered view but they do show in wireframe and solid view. SOLUTION at least for me... Don't detach the principled volume shader and then reconnect it. Leave it alone. Even rebaking the data after wards with the volume shader attached does not fix it. I am using blender 3.0.0

    I'm in the middle of re baking the simulation. Every time I close out the file (+ closed out blender 2.83) and re opened the file the fire is gone. Does this mean I have to re set the Cache file to a different location ie where I saved the file or just a non Temp file.? Great tutorial BTW thanks!! Edit: Stopped video when you opened the shader never turned up the blackbody intensity for renders. Also as a side note. While I was rendering the animation I changed the background to be dark it was light grey. Went to check on the animation and the background was black!!?? Is that a bug or just the way blender works?

    • @smcg3202

      In Cache make new folder, when you save your project that cache will be linked to it, Start with Modular baking, do not bake full firewall until you are happy with a small section, refine according to your rendering hardware.
