Before Johnny Depp was cast as Jack Sparrow, Hugh Jackman, Harrison Ford, Jim Carrey, Michael Keaton, Christopher Walken, Robert DeNiro, Matthew McConaughey, Cary Elwes, Bill Murray, Steve Martin and Robin Williams were considered. Tobey Maguire, Jude Law, Ewan McGregor, Ben Peyton, Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Tom Hiddleston, and Chris Masterson were considered for Will Turner. Jessica Alba, Amanda Bynes, and Jaimie Alexander were considered for Elizabeth Swann. Sylvester McCoy of Doctor Who and Tom Wilkinson were considered for Governor Swann. Steven Spielberg was almost picked to direct the film, but was too busy working on Minority Report and Catch Me If You Can, both released in 2002.
Great Reaction!! My kids were teenagers when this movie came out and since they were already Johnny Depp fans, I was anxious to see "The Curse of the Black Pearl" as soon as it was released. But, honestly, because I remembered the experience of "The Pirates of the Caribbean" ride at DisneyWorld and Disneyland, I was most interested in how they were going to make a movie based upon it! But, even if it wasn't very good I figured I would enjoy watching Johnny Depp! I was SO IMPRESSED! As soon as the screen went to the final credits, my first words were "WOW...they did it! That was one of the best movies I have EVER seen!" I was stunned at how good this movie was--and still is. Even before it was released on DVD I saw the movie several times (and that is something I NEVER do).
You should watch the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise to the very end. There is always a small clip after the credits. Here you can see what became of the monkey. Nice reaction by the way!
At this time Orlando Bloom was also working on The Lord of The Rings. He was fresh out of acting school . First 2 movies of his career Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of The Rings
There's lots of Easter eggs to other movies in this film, the scene where they use the boat to walk underwater is directly copied from Burt Lancaster's 1952 film The Crimson Pirate
It's clear that alot of barbossas character was influenced by Robert Shaws performance of quint the sailor in jaws. The one that served on the USS indianapolis

The score isn't by Zimmer, but by someone he recommended from his team: Klaus Badelt.
Years later Disneyland added Jack Sparrow in their Pirates of The Carribbean ride.
if you like Geoffrey Rush as a villain here, then you'll really love his villainous character in Mystery Men! He's awesome...and hilarious.

Ah the british east india trading company, famous for multiple genocide. How dare Captain Sparrow was in trouble with them.
44:27 clever? its a major flaw in the movie, he gets shot and the curse is lift afther the shot and he still dies.

@@janeford218 dont blame it on me that they made such a big and obvious mistake, they chozen money over quality.
@@2684dennis you have an amazing ability to miss the point
@@janeford218 ì comment and give a reason, and you comment my reason, then adleast give the reason why you think differently.
You are trying to deflect from the point or you are missing it entirely.
