Oh yea! Me and my best bud from high school was out for summer break (he done graduated that year though) sitting out in the woods up all night drinking, watching Stripes before he went off to join the Air Force back in '94, watching Stripes, hanging out talking about life all night and this song comes on SNL. I was blown away and been a Rancid fan ever since. Talk about the best times in life looking back. Just wished I knew those were the best of times before it all ended. RIP Brandon
@@BreDawg714 Yea man, that was some B*llshit. Rancid is the Greatest Punk Band to me that's gotten me through so much in life going on 30 years now man! Rancid could've been living the Punk life out on the road and the only shower they saw in a month could've been the SNL set. They showered up and came back on then the elitists jump on them with their B*llshit.....while the elitist all up in their Plush penthouse. Yea, all the elitist reporters- reviewers don't ever know Sh*t! Just look at The Rolling Stone swearing Sabbath and Zepplin will never make it now singing their praises. The press are the main ones out of it- without a clue man. Rancid For Life! Last One To Die!
I feel like whenever they're performing live, Lars just kinda treats Tim like a little kid and let's him do whatever he wants while he keeps the band from falling apart on stage.
Lars Frederiksen is indeed a very competent, sharp-witted man. Look at 01:15 onwards: Singing the interlude, playing the chords, playing the riff. All by himself. That's the beauty of this partnership: When it comes to writing & taking stuff to the studio, Tim is your man. When it comes to performing that stuff live, Lars is your go-to guy. They've been doing it for 27 years now. Match made in heaven.
Thank you! It's weird how hard it was to find that bit of info! This performance single-handedly helped steer my brother and I into punk rock soon after!
Watched this live that night. Loved rancid. Kids used to pick on me for wearing their t shirts..minor threat.. Bad religion and others. They ended up liking Dave Mathews senior year... As a gen Xer we would call them a derogatory term that starts with an f.
When someone questions my love of Rancid, I direct them to this performance.
I remember the band being criticized heavy for changing cloths between songs.

@@johnhareiel5118 stripes filmed in my hometown. 😊
I remember watching this...SNL had the best shows in the 90's.
SNL always been kinda punk. Belushi got FEAR on.
This was kind of a low era for SNL. This episode was hosted by, like, the 3rd lead on Melrose Place.
Love the shout out to all the bands at Epitaph records!
The greatest musical guest SNL ever had!
Fear and the replacements were way better
If I had a dollar for every time tim played guitar, I would have 1 dollar
Ha!!!
You must not know Tim well
except Tim has about $13 million
Now u have 7 dollars
I remember recording this at home on vhs and watching it live with my gf at time
Matt's spinning too! He should do that more often live.
Hes too old now man.
All these 90s punk bands just show up now
