Love your channel but could you please stop sliding bolt on necks straight into a body and lay them in from the top. Not good for the neck pocket and I’m feeling triggered 😂
Darrell Braun Guitar - nice kit wish my neck pocket on the kit I got was that tight. That will help make the kit go together so much more easily. Oh well I made mine work and did a full scallop on my strat build. Look forward to see the build. Can you show the wiring for the kit in minor detail? I know there are other videos for it out there but details from a trusted source will be appreciated from your viewers and beginner builders.
Necks and neck pockets usually have a slight taper (wide heel, narrow nut). Fit the neck from the top (heel aligned) rather than in from the front to avoid loosening the fit or potential pocket split.
That's right and fairly easy to split the short side of the pocket right off the body. I have two telecaster that won't let the neck "slide in". The neck has to be placed over the pocket and pushed straight in/down. But.... they're nice and tight (and very straight).
I'm so hyped. Jazzmaster was always my guitar of choice every time I went to a guitar center but then the Meteora model appeared and oh boy. I'm so excited to see how it progresses through the time 🤤🔥
Just got to love Darrell's enthusiasm, always smiling and loving life! Just a great person to watch and learn from. Thanks from a newbie tryng to learn to play.
From Leo: Great choice on a build model. Looking forward to it. I have used a tuneomatic bridge on a Jazzmaster. I ended up switching to a Wilkenson roller style.
Hey Darrell, I can't wait for this one. I've been looking for a jazzmaster kit so your timing is perfect. Thanks for such a great site. Your doing us canucks proud! Take her easy and keep the great content coming!!!
SOLO actually used to make guitars. I have an acoustic from them I got for about $185 and it's been my main acoustic for years. It was a steal. Great neck, loud, plays well, good low end with nice top end as well, looks good, spruce top and mahogany sides and back, rosewood fingerboard. Everyone who's tried is is surprised by how much I got it for. Tried to look for the model recently to find out more about it because I forgot some of the specs, and found that they are doing these things now. They also used to make electric guitars, but I never tried them.
Dibs when it’s finished. My buddy doesn’t have a nice guitar and out of curiosity at a store (we were trying out amps) I told him to grab the jazz master. He loved how big it sounded on the high frets. My stuff puts his to shame but he has so much potential I think it would inspire him a lot.
From the way you talked about what you’re doing with this guitar I think it’d be amazing enough to change my whole music making career. Awesome plan Darrell!
Back in the seventies, we used to take the covers off of humbucking pickups to give it a dirtier sound. We also used to hardmount the pickups to the body - removing the mounting springs and screwing the pickup directly to a block of wood correctly spaced for the right pickup height. That would increase the sustain. It would be neat to see you do a comparison of spring mounted pickup versus the previous mods that I discussed.
In my opinion, Solo music should consider a new option, selling the body, neck and pickguard only. Anyway, she will be awesome after upgrade. I always enjoy your videos. Thank you so much.
It looks like everything on this project will be upgraded save for the neck and body, which is all an experienced guitar builder would require. Looking forward to this project.
My next guitar! I've owned everything in my 40 + years of playing including Strats,Teles, a Mustang , and even a Musicmaster. I just need to decide what color. Definitely one of the Sixties custom colors. Thanks.
Awesome darrell !! I've done a bass kit through them & bought several parts from them over the last 2-3 years now. Great canadian owned/operated company !! :)
Interesting timing on this. I just spoke with a friend today about being curious to see what would go into building a kit. I'm very glad that you're doing this. Can't wait.
Great project! Sooo glad you picked such an iconic and cool Fender kit. I look forward to watching the build and seeing your choice of finish. Thanks! Glad for Solo too, they were not on my radar. I’ll check them out.
This build is going to be extremely interesting. It will be great to see how the kit guitar stacks up against the actual Jazzmaster. It will be even more interesting once all the upgrades are added. I would love a Jazzmaster guitar. I think they are an interesting guitar compared to all the more popular styles of guitars. Looking forward to Part 2.
I love the build/mod videos! One thing I would like to see regarding the painting/finishing of the body/neck would be how a non-professional can get good results. This would be unlike the Les Paul build you did where you partnered with a professional. Great video, and nice pick with the Jazzmaster!
Well, since I already have a Gibson LP, Fender Strat and Tele, it only makes sense that I get a Jazz Master! Looking forward to the build and upgrades!
based on this video months ago i ordered a tc style..got here today.. cant wait to start with it.. bu i gotta say rewatching this video.. the way u got it packed is way better than what i received.. hopefully it doesn't matter.. i am very excited to start with my project with my 12y/o son who is gonna be sooo excited..
Excited to see how this turns out. I've been looking around at kit guitars for my son's upcoming birthday. He's a lefty so options are very limited. Would prefer a bolt on for a first time putting one together. Still hoping to find a LP lefty kit with a bolt on (I know, that's heresey lol)
I'd love you to do a Marshall DSL20 head amp review. You are the only person on the innerweb who gives so much detail in everything you do. So, much so that you're my first "go-to" guy to do anything guitar!
I can't wait, I love the kit builds! In fact, it's nearly time for me to start my next kit; either the 5 string fretless jazz bass or the P90 thinline tele.
So hyped about this. I'm doing the same thing but "rocking" it out with high output pickups, exotic wood choices, etc.. I own a large collection but never bought a Jazzmaster so I wanted to do my own version of Jim Root's Fender model (but non-active). Really looking forward since I've only just started putting it together. Cheers, Darrell.
super pumped about this kit!!! My interest in guitar kits has diminished this last year (after the fender players series started offering amazing and affordable guitars) but you have sparked my interest once again!!
I have looked at these guitar kits so many times but convinced myself they wouldn't be high quality, so I am watching this very closely. You definitely have my attention.
I am really looking forward to this build. I like taking cheaper guitars and upgrading / modding them. I already know this guitar is going to be awesome.
Well considering that you're one of the most profound and analytic guitar wizards I know, this is gonna be an awesome series! Excited to see where it goes!
That mahogany neck and body already seem like an upgrade from the maple / basswood you see in a lot kits. Not that there's really anything bad to say about maple necks or basswood bodies. But mahogany, for whatever reason, just seems right. I can't wait to see and hear how you inspire us this time!
I've come to really like the jazz. I'm going to wait and see how this turns out from Solo. So far they are my number one choice when I can afford a kit.
I’m so excited for this! Been building a super squier along with the channel. Taking more time than I like, dang money! Haha. Can’t wait to hear how this sounds and how it ends up looking!
At last, my waiting is over for another guitar build from my fav guitar UA-camr 👍 Please do the stock parts that came with the package before doin the upgrade. The reason is for the viewer to know what will they get when buying one. Then do the comparison after the upgrade, it will be vey helpfull. Btw, lot's of new guitar on the wall there 😍, where's my fav Double Bound Tele with Warmoth neck? 🙏
I’d opt for traditional controls with the upper roller knobs. Maybe I missed you mentioning that? Glad your doing such cool upgrades b/c the body & neck are gorgeous. This’ll be fun to watch
Looking forward to watching this build. Solo kits are pretty decent. I've done a couple and I'm very happy with both. They're what got me into guitar building. Now I can't stop!👍😎🎸🎶
Well, I just ordered a Jazzmaster kit! Looking forward to seeing this one finished! Hey you want to make it really classic? Paint that puppy CANDY PURPLE! Ta-da! Ok, ok whatever color you want, golly. Seriously can't wait, thanks Darrell!, Pam
Hey, Darrell... Great option to do the Jazzy... Only trouble with the kit seems to be the inclusion of P90-style pickups... but your upgrades will take care of that. Really lookin' forward to seeing how this project progresses...
New Kit Build! This one is going to be a lot of fun :)
Looking forward to your progress on this Darrell! Have Fun!
I am looking forward to seeing how this build goes. I thoroughly enjoy this type of video.
This is going to be awesome! I love the kit build videos

I came here to say this exact thing.
I love the jazzmaster sooo damn much! I dream of having Jim Root's signature jazzmaster, it's so simple and good looking
Mahogany body & neck! The transparent color possibilities are endless. Can't wait to see the finished kit!
I'm so hyped. Jazzmaster was always my guitar of choice every time I went to a guitar center but then the Meteora model appeared and oh boy. I'm so excited to see how it progresses through the time 🤤🔥
Meteoras are soooooo coooool
I really think you do the best guitar build. I can't wait for the final sound tests. Thanks.
The only thing that really sucks about this video is having to wait for part two!
this is my favorite guitar shape. I am absolutely in love with my JM. can't wait to see how this pans out.
Nice i have such a box lying in my room for ages now. This will probably make me finally built it.
Good luck!
Just got to love Darrell's enthusiasm, always smiling and loving life! Just a great person to watch and learn from. Thanks from a newbie tryng to learn to play.
It felt like Christmas while you were opening up al the packages! I enjoyed it, and there were no socks.
Whoooeee I can't wait for this one! Your channel is better than anything on Australia television. Love your work Darrell!
Lots of fun! I remember playing Elterphew J Dunpherwingle’s Jazzmaster. It had its own set of working eyes and thumb tips as wide as the Pacific...

I’m glued to this build! Always wondered about how the Jazzmaster trem system works and how it is set up!
From the way you talked about what you’re doing with this guitar I think it’d be amazing enough to change my whole music making career. Awesome plan Darrell!

This should be fun! I have an Eastwood with a Jazzmaster-style trem, and I'm looking forward to seeing how that trem style is put together and works.
Eastwoods are really cool
In my opinion, Solo music should consider a new option, selling the body, neck and pickguard only.
Anyway, she will be awesome after upgrade.
I always enjoy your videos. Thank you so much.
It looks like everything on this project will be upgraded save for the neck and body, which is all an experienced guitar builder would require. Looking forward to this project.
That's what I thought... Why buy a "kit" is you change everything ;) !!! haha
I can't wait to see this series! I absolutely loved the Les Paul kit build and would love to see more stuff like this!
My next guitar! I've owned everything in my 40 + years of playing including Strats,Teles, a Mustang , and even a Musicmaster. I just need to decide what color. Definitely one of the Sixties custom colors. Thanks.
I liked using the rubber fret cleaners. They work great to clean , file , and polish a fretboard.
Awesome darrell !! I've done a bass kit through them & bought several parts from them over the last 2-3 years now. Great canadian owned/operated company !! :)
Excited to see how it turns out! Been a while since a build!
Interesting timing on this. I just spoke with a friend today about being curious to see what would go into building a kit. I'm very glad that you're doing this. Can't wait.
Are you taking finish suggestions? IMHO a Jazzmaster is a classic guitar that sounds better in Surf Green. Looking forward to seeing her built.
Constable 1976 yes surf green would be cool ☺
I would go from teal to a surf green as a burst just because it would be awesome to look at
Great project! Sooo glad you picked such an iconic and cool Fender kit. I look forward to watching the build and seeing your choice of finish. Thanks! Glad for Solo too, they were not on my radar. I’ll check them out.

I’m super excited to see how this turns out. I’ve been eyeing a jazzmaster kit for a while. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

Been thinking a lot recently about trying out a DIY kit. Can't wait to see how this one goes!
Really looking forward to this one Darrell, the Jazzmaster has always intrigued me. Can’t wait for part 2. Have fun with it and keep up the good work!
The jazzmaster is my favorite guitar shape, wish more companies used it
Great start. Can't wait to see it built.
I'd love you to do a Marshall DSL20 head amp review. You are the only person on the innerweb who gives so much detail in everything you do. So, much so that you're my first "go-to" guy to do anything guitar!
Hope this build goes as well as the last one! Would love to see your take on one of the JEM style kits too!
I can't wait, I love the kit builds! In fact, it's nearly time for me to start my next kit; either the 5 string fretless jazz bass or the P90 thinline tele.
This will be great!! I've got a new Solo Tele kit I'm getting ready to start. Can wait to get mine built and watch you build this Jazzmaster!!
Nice! Good luck with your build 👍
Best guitar ever. Versatility unmatched
Fantastic project Darrell! Looking forward to seeing your process + the finished product :)
I've always though about buying a Jazzmaster but I've never had the chance. Can't wait to see what the end result is man. Keep up the good work
Not a fan of the Jazzmaster, but I do loves me a kit built. Can’t wait to see how this turns out.
Can't wait to see what it becomes! Looks fantastic so far, excited to hear those Dimarzios
Nice! Excited for this one.
Hi Darrell, love your channel educational, quick and to the point. Always interesting.
Going to be sick. Can't wait to see it. The guys at Solo rock.
Cheers!
Hey Darrell! Can you make a video with the vintage black and gold guitar that I see behind you?
It’s a Schecter LP style guitar. I have the exact same one and I really wanna see a video about it from him
@@Ojas.mediratta Yea thanks for the name of the guitar. At first I thought it was an ESP LTD EC-1000
What's Up it’s a Solo-II Custom in ABSN
He can't. Gibson will sue him!
So hyped about this. I'm doing the same thing but "rocking" it out with high output pickups, exotic wood choices, etc.. I am really looking forward to this build. I like taking cheaper guitars and upgrading / modding them. I already know this guitar is going to be awesome.
Amazing. I loved my Jazzmaster. Had to sell it to pay for school but I’m saving for another. I’m stoked!
Well considering that you're one of the most profound and analytic guitar wizards I know, this is gonna be an awesome series! Excited to see where it goes!

These CF pots are the same ones on my Hagstrom Ultra Max and they work pretty well. Wouldn't change them!
That fretboard wood is so damn glorious
Gibson should be using that instead of dried out rosewood smh
Looking forward to watching this build. Solo kits are pretty decent. I've done a couple and I'm very happy with both. They're what got me into guitar building. Now I can't stop!👍😎🎸🎶
I've been pretty impressed with Solo kits from what I've seen. I've watched Brad Angove's channel where he has built several.
Jazzmaster is an under rated guitar. Looking forward to this.
Great idea Darrell! Looking forward to the series!
Nice kits! I've done a few of them!
Love Jazzmasters. Super cool build! Keep it up!
Looking forward to this one, to see if the kit is generally all good, without too much extra work. Cool.
Hey, Darrell... Great option to do the Jazzy... Only trouble with the kit seems to be the inclusion of P90-style pickups... but your upgrades will take care of that. Really lookin' forward to seeing how this project progresses...
Cool Vid!! This is exciting to see!!!!! Congrats on the new kit!!! I hope you enjoy it!!
P.S you are my fav UA-camr!!
So excited to see the finished product!!
Hey Darrell, super cool video as always. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this turns out.
I'd like to see it get a darker stain and awesome clear coating. No fender colors. Looks like fun!
I like the addition of my buzz stop on my Jazzmaster. It gives it better sustain.
Looking forward to the next episode !
I love the Jazzmaster although i've never played one. I'd love to try it!
Looking forward to part 2, love build videos :)
I’m way too excited about seeing this build!!!
The Jazzmaster is a great build choice !
I have the same tuners on my baritone partscaster and really like them.
I don't think the stock tune o matic bridge and upgraded bridge are compatible. You'll have to fill then redrill for the upgraded jazzmaster bridge.
Looking forward to seeing how this works out. Hope to win it as well!
Can't wait to see how this one turns out man.
Looking forward to the progress!
anxious for the build! cheers Darrell!
I built this kit recently. It turned out great!
Wowza! Excited to see the finished product!
waiting for this one.. hope i win that awesome kit.. AHAHAHHA...... bro!!!!! keep up the awesome content... much love here from Philippines
You got me excited lmao. I'm sure you'll have tons of fun and I will watching it.
Great job. Looking for part 2
5:35 _That's what she said_
edit - this looks really cool. looking forward to seeing the first build, and all the upgrades, too.
Anxious to see this thing come together so I can win it.
I'm excited to see this before and after build..awesome
