Just discovered your channel and I love the way you show close up and in detail how to do things. Looking forward to checking out your other videos. Love what your doing man!
First, major question has the vehicle been in a collision? Are there any signs of that someone previously worked on the vehicle? And are you using aftermarket parts? Any one of those 3 questions can cause you major issues. Figure that out before you start cutting and welding. If you run into something , ask a question in the comments , I'll do my best to answer it for you
Thats awesome to see those tips to add a little more professionalism to that home restoration project that otherwise might have been deemed close enough !
🤣😂🤣 I’m laughing with joy at the fact you did another Power House, Fact Packed, SIMPLE, BIG money SAVER video in just over 10 MINUTES!!! Gold, Absolute Bloody GOLD!!! 🤣😂🤣 THANK YOU, AGAIN!! 👍😎👍
@@guzzifabrication3448slowly but surely chief. Only missing a couple pieces for the front clip but I have to source some 59 el Camino specific outer wheel houses off a parts car because the previous owner cut into the the wheel house/tub and welded the replacement quarters about two inches up the quarter panel instead of on the factory lip (that they cut off getting the old quarter off) that the wheel houses have. Lots of patience is the key haha !
These have been very helpful, tank you for your time. I've done a ton of rust repair and small patches, but as I'm about to hang the body panels with some aftermarket stuff, I was curious what a good approach was, and these have been invaluable.
Excellent tutorial. I had the exact same problem with an aftermarket fender fitting my OE hood on my 62. I also had terrible line matching with the aftermarket panel to my OE headlight trim panel. That was the point where I got POed and repaired my original fender (collision damage and minor rust). I plan to resell the aftermarket panel on FB marketplace.
Yeah, I'm having to change the way I work in the shop becuase of the terrible quality aftermarket parts available..... project I can't get or use the existing original parts I have to pass on taking on those jobs..... shame.....
I which youtube was around 30 years ago, I restored a 1968 Camaro with all aftermarket parts, had some bad gaps but never thought of what you do, awesome thanks for the knowledge
Awesome video just like all of them wish I would have found your channel last year! I can do the metal work that you show but I have learned so much from you on way better tools to use plus I am know where as good as you lol your work is perfect and you do it fast! God bless you, brother, and keep the videos coming please.
Most impressive. Final result was awesome. I just found out about your channel, I’m hooked now. Looking forward to learning more from you. Good, not overly done, explanation in sync with your work. Thanks for sharing your skills.
Nice work. Thx for putting these type of videos together for us to learn from. Curious you went from bare metal to primer… did you do an epoxy coat or just 2k primer?
Great tips! Im currently doing a 66 mustang and trying to do proper metal work so I can stay away from using filler and man, with these aftermarket panels its a ton of work!
Very nice. Currently restoring a 96 Dodge Cummins. Welded in new cab corners, inner and outer floor pans, fenders, bedsides and four of six cab mounts had to be replaced. When I shut the door, The curved part of the passenger door near the cab corner vent on the pillar with the door latch/strike hits the rocker right on the curve. I don’t think cutting the cab corner is the answer. I was planning on skinning the doors. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Wish I could paste a picture.
Would you recommend that milwaukee RA 1/4" electric die grinder? Dont have a big compressor, looking for electric alternatives. Nice work, only way to repair an edge like that, bondo would never hold.
Robert I hope its ok to ask you a question advice type ,I have a 1964 Belair two door post That I'm restoring I have upper trunk shelf in and am getting ready to do lower trunk floor problem is when I bought this year's back I couldn't get a one piece lower trunk floor mine is three pieces outer floor tub and tail piece question is install one piece at a time or weld all three pieces together and install as one Sorry for rambling on Thanks for all you do to help Do It Yourselfers out with your videos .
Nice job, just one thing. It looks like you went from a tight gap to a loose one. Keep in mind that the metal shrinks a tiny bit from the welding. What looked perfect after the cut appeared on the video to shrink after welding and that bottom edge appeared to be a larger gap than the gap going forward. Maybe the camera angle? Hopefully.
I would love to talk to you. I have a 63 Biscayne 2dr sedan that I am working on, and have run into a major issue that just a little guidance on a route of repair would mean the world to me
When I look under the drip rail on the Biscayne I can see clean on in to the under side of the roof. From vent window to rear sail panel. The sail panel has a small amount of rot too. The upper door sill area on the body has some damage as well. I have located a full roof with complete A pillar into the cowl B pillar to the rocker and C pillar into the quarter and deck lid filler panel. Would you just cut the old roof off and replace it with the donor. I understand that I would have to remove some of the metal on the pillars to get a complete and safe weld joint. What are your thoughts. Thanks Adam
@@jessicaandadamlawson4979 That's always a tough one when there is rust inbe3tween sanwiched panels like that area..... my approach 1. media blast area to get an accurate accessment of the damage, then you base repair direction from that. The correct method is to always replace.... sometimes that may not be practical or be cost restrictive ( that's just real world ....) Media blast area first let mer know.
Thanks for the input. I was actually going to be blasting the area today. My body seemed to be in good shape until I found that. I did do complete floors due to multiple areas that had weakened metal. I still retain the factory ¼s wi 2 small patches in each side. And a buddy has a couple sets of N.O.S fenders that he cut me a great deal one set
I see alot of guys dont know how to make adjustments and sometimes not considering the mounts or supprts on a car. Also if the car has been in a wreck before

milwaukee electric die grinder is one of the best tools I ever purchased......
what did you spray up inside the quater for rust prevention on the seam weld?
P.O.R.15, epoxy + paint, or raptor liner, one of the 3 is how the inside areas are always finished out
