  • One piece of gear that I never leave home without on a kayak camping expedition is my ultra lite camping table! This has become a vital piece of gear for me and the crew!

We were on a trip and lost one of the rolled steel hinge pins that do come loose over time. A paper clip saved our bacon, as well as all the other food prep. I never thought to ask why my buddy had a paper clip in his loadout, but it sure came in handy. I did PM when I got home and put a spot of Gorilla tape over each hole. No problems since in 4 years.

Great review, especially before I bought my first table. Looks like Size Matters.
Pete, to create the utmost in table envy among the River Kings, you must find a way to pack BOTH tables,
just for one trip, then ask everyone else where their "other" table is?
"This was a two-table event, you didn't get the memo?"

Is the fabric top ever an issue, specifically when using a jetboil? I have a similar one with an aluminum roll up top on it, wasn’t sure if the stove might melt the fabric or if the size/weight advantage is preferred.

It has never been an issue for me, but I also use the jetboil base and then dont set the heated cup onto the fabric, but back onto the burner base...If you set the hot cup down on the fabric Im sure you would have a really funny story later...LOL! I do prefer the size and weight advantages over the metal top.

I have both types. For drinks or just holding things I like the cloth. For cooking, aluminum is nice, able to take a hot pot directly to the tabletop and get a second one going on the flame without having a funny story to tell.... Spills also clean up much better. Either way, you want a table!

I should add that we use SIKs. Our tables ride in the tank well in the back, clipped to bungees or otherwise fastened. It's another reason I like the aluminum style for yakpacking- it can get very wet and it won't impact its performance in any way.

Think you’d go camping in the RMX?

Im sure I could make it work, but personally, I would use the Katana 10.4.

Good review, I never looked much at the canvas ones. I like the idea of those better for non food items like my gopro. I like my lightweight metal ones for food, as I can really clean them good, since I'm usually in bear country, here in WA.
