Escaping The Rent Trap | Tiny House Living - BUILDING A YURT, finale part 1 - ua-cam.com/video/ezMTQ9Eisd0/v-deo.html We bought 8 acres of raw land, off grid, in the Canadian Wilderness and decided to build a tiny house as our first dwelling. Our Tiny House will be a Yurt. A Yurt or Yurta is a Mongolian Style Teepee or Tent. This is part one of our Yurt Building FINALE and part 2 is being uploaded at the SAME TIME. Click Here for Yurt Finale part 2: ua-cam.com/video/BDzISUOrzCw/v-deo.html This Yurt build and Yurt life will be a journey, we hope you SUBSCRIBE and come with us! Enjoy #yurt #offgrid #tinyhouse #alone #livingoffgrid #garden #offthegrid #gardening #DIY Nicole and I are attempting to live off the grid in British Columbia, Canada. We have 8 acres of forest property sandwiched in between the Pacific Ocean, a fresh water lake, and a stream which flows year round from the lake into the ocean. For over nearly 10 years I grew a fruit tree, permaculture, garden, and native edible plant, herb, and raised bed garden food forest. You can still watch all the garden videos of my old desert garden in Arizona. I was born in British Columbia and I have returned to the Rain Forests of British Columbia to a "Raw Land" property to grow my 1st FULL EDIBLE FOOD FOREST Off Grid on a wilderness property. This climate is temperate and coastal, rarely seeing snow in the winter and highs in the 80's (30 Celsius) in the summer. It is a rare microclimate that spans from gardening zone 7-9. The property is 8 acres and completely overgrown, mostly with conifer trees. This area is a verifiable rain forest and situated in the Southwestern-most tip of the Canadian "Great Bear Rain Forest". NicHolistic (www.UA-cam.com/HolisticNicole) and I will be learning about edible seaweeds, edible native plants, edible mushrooms, and many other edible native trees/plants as we attempt to Build a Yurt, Draw Our Energy Clean, Live Off the Grid, and Grow an Epic Superfoods Garden and Fruit Tree Orchard. We will also have a lot of changes coming so get ready. Everyone who wants to skip the loooong reruns, jump to about 11 minutes. You're welcome. I had to just keep hitting fast forward to get to a part of the build they haven't previously posted. Now I can start actually watching. :)
I enjoy you fun videos very much . I do worry that your not doing enough to get ready for winter . Storing food , Cutting fire wood and so on . Picking a bowl berry's is just play , canning 20 quarts is more in line with surviving winter .
What a beautiful home! You two make a great team! That was a lot of hard work, but hard work pays off, that’s for sure. Really enjoyed your video. May God bless you both! ❤️
omg, I felt like I was working out just watching them trying to put that tarp thing up. Good job guys! I woulda been sweating my ass off! lol New weight loss plan.. Build a yurt .
I see a full wrap around deck with a solar powerd hot wire in the near future. To keep all those bears outa your tent. And a good watch dog would help ya know when there out there. Hot wire will help when ya get the fruit trees planted also for your compost area.
What causes less pain, uses less resources, and pollutes the earth less… Being vegan or living off grid while hunting, gathering, collecting, and growing your own food?
You are both a success. You are not defined by being or not being Vegan. You are defined by overcoming the obstacles in front of you. You are both doing that. Mr Webster says, ": a strict vegetarian who consumes no food (such as meat, eggs, or dairy products) that comes from animals . also : one who abstains from using animal products (such as leather)" The other site, "Living off Grid" probably better defines your future. I hope you continued success.
OMG, that was intense to watch. I can't imagine how intense it had to have felt at times. Loved what you did to film it all. Really let us see it come together and gave us a sense as to how difficult it actually was. Safety wasn't the top priority, lol, but you came up with some great ideas to get her done. Bravo!
Jake & Nicole - Part one of a two part episode. What an awesome idea to do a double posting. In Part one it was insane watching you up on those ladders. So glad you didnt have any problems and you used #beastmode to get the job done. Really cool to see the yurt progress. Congratulations on a record 994 viewers (thats as high as I saw) - now to watch Part 2! Lance & Carol - Victoria
On an island it isn't easy to go get some rented scaffolding. Too bad you don't have a huge supply of wood so you could build some scaffolding. Like a forest. That was scary.
Amazing film! I found myself seeing the fibonacci series in the geometery and symmetry and your roof unveilimg like a chrysalis revealing a butterfly. Thanks! Extraordinary work.
I have 2 questions 1. Are these windows that you ordered with the yurt? 2. Is that the extra insulation option you got? I was looking at the pacific yurt website the other day and am trying to figure out what i would get. Btw nice job!
Ah, okay. At the beginning, I was confused by the repeated footage, but the way you have made at montage of the whole thing from beginning of clearing the forest space to finishing the yurt structure is really neat!! Great videos!
Way to "Macgyver" it with the pallet scaffold ! Can't wait to aee what you do inside.... Best yurt build in youtube history. Will you post some 'outtakes' ?
i thought that the point of yurt is that its easy to built but it looks like a lot of work and risk and you get less good results than if you built tiny house. just an opinion
attila the hun yurts are significantly easier than building a tiny home. A canvas tent would have been even easier. And they spent a LOT of time getting video for UA-cam so it took them a lot longer, they agreed with that in another video.
Hard work but you two made it look like fun!!! I have been to Canada fishing. I know the mosquitoes can be very bothersome. To say the lease!!! But how are the TICKS??? Are you getting a dog?? As all ways, Thanks for taking US along!!!
Yes you built it well and it looks really good, but why build this instead of an aircrete dome home, you would have been super insulated and it's so much more durable and many other advantages...?
I’m sorry I laughed so much with the top cover u looked like a worm climbing stairs lol. Great team work tho and what an effort. Haven’t seen just two do a top cover xo

So tense watching that! Great to see it all work out!
I’m searching to see what brand your wood stove is - such a lovely home you’re constructing & this wood stove is fantastic! good on ya’ mates!
I have 2 questions
1. Are these windows that you ordered with the yurt?
2. Is that the extra insulation option you got?
I was looking at the pacific yurt website the other day and am trying to figure out what i would get.
Btw nice job!
Love the camera shots!!
Safety first glad you're not playing that macho game. Good job guys
Ah, okay. At the beginning, I was confused by the repeated footage, but the way you have made at montage of the whole thing from beginning of clearing the forest space to finishing the yurt structure is really neat!! Great videos!
Way to go! You did a fantastic job. Teamwork makes the dream work.
Being medical as I am and also retired Air Force. You’ve put yourself at risk of a major fall. All I can say is safety first.
Christopher Cooper Risk Reward!
Something you should also consider are the trees above. Broken tree branches can go through your newly built home. I air on the side of caution.
Thanks!
Saludos una vez más!.
Way to "Macgyver" it with the pallet scaffold ! Can't wait to aee what you do inside.... Best yurt build in youtube history. Will you post some 'outtakes' ?
David Tolson David!!! Great idea! Soooo many outtakes!
21 century Adam and Eve be out there. Love this team work and dedication!
Amazin!
I really like this did you already post a liNK where to buy a Yurt KIT LOVE IT
Hi Dylon. You can find information on our products at www.yurts.com/.

Boy you two are going to sleep sooo good tonight .. iyou're almost done guys.. good job.. praying for that the rest is easier for you. :)
Великолепно! Один вопрос - "Конденсат"? Perfectly! One question-"condensate"?
Super hard jobs for super hard people
So it looks like when Game of Thrones ends I will be watching Jake and Nicole season one etc.

FOR FUTURE PROJECTS done without scaffolding and extra people... safety harness set up attached to wood ring??
Fuck off
That's the way to use your gray matter and lots of muscle!

Omg, this is amazing. But how do you pay for all this? What about property tax? Canada don’t do that?
How are you going to go to work? Internet?
Bet OSHAs is looking at you stepping on the last step on that ladder lol 😂 blood must be boiling.
I’m sorry I laughed so much with the top cover u looked like a worm climbing stairs lol. Great team work tho and what an effort. Haven’t seen just two do a top cover xo
Jake, what phone do you have?
We like having you around sir, so when I ask this it comes only with great deal of concern. ... WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON THE TOP RUNG OF THE LADDER!?!?
Life of Goober 😬😬😬✌🏼
Am getting nervous worrying about you getting hurt on top of the ladder. Definitely, making a scaffolding platform seems safer.
They're done so no need to worry.
@@NoOneHere2Day now, yeah, but that bit where he was carrying heavy stuff and standing on the dead top of the ladder. Eeek dangerous!!
