YES! I thought it was just me, but I remember having multiple dreams where when I run it feels as if there is low gravity and ik running against the wind. It feels quite odd
In 100+ mph winds you have to be careful. It's not THAT the wind is blowing. It's WHAT the wind is blowing. If you get hit with a sheet of ice at 100+ mph, it doesn't matter how many sit ups you did that morning you're not getting up after that.
The average speed is 35 mph which means that there were a high number of a sheet of ice going above that. The chances of surviving if you get hit by a sheet of ice at 25 mph are far higher than if you get hit by a car at 35 mph
I dunno Anna, I can jump and change directions in mid-air like ua-cam.com/video/ezIqFyjAUP4/v-deo.html >_> But yeah, the fence at the end blocks the wind. Like when there's heaps of wind next to a building and then suddenly you take a step and there's no more wind at all! ^_^
I've been there in July when it's 25 degrees outside at one in the afternoon. I have hiked up, driven up, been taken up in a hired van and gone up by cog railway. I personally recommend the cog railway as the best. You get an amazing view and it is very quick. Hiking up is very tiring. It takes two days to hike up and one day to hike down. Don't drive up unless you have 4 wheel drive and fresh brakes.
+Larry Huffman I hiked up the first year I was in boy scouts. I believe I was 12 at the time. Imagine hiking up a 500 story building without elevators and instead of stairs you climb up a rocky trail. Sure the views are amazing. The cog railway gives you almost as nice views and does all the work for you and it goes right up. I think it takes 30-45 minutes each way. Though it is scary for some people as it goes right up at a 45 degree angle and in some places you are pretty high up and it looks pretty rickety.
Great vid! Thanks! I've driven up to the observatory a few times. It has been windy up there but not like that. If you ever get a chance you should watch the video they have of folks at the observatory trying to have tea with winds at 120 mph. Hilarious!

Maybe. So just possible theory. Mt Washington has a relatively close location to a large expanse of Atlantic Ocean. There are the Jet stream winds anyway considered to be fast but generally high at Jet plane altitudes. Add that to the hurricanes from the Gulf of Mexico flowing to equalise the North south hemisphere hot cold variation. Hurricanes often seen travelling off shore heading north across the Atantic but being drawn towards the polar frozen Icesheet. But colliding and merging in to the Jet Stream circulating the pole. So that so far is normal. So the Atlantic is a massive volume of water far larger than the entire USA. It rises and falls daily with luna highs and lows. IE the passage of the Moon through space around earth causes the tides. At high tide the Atlantic exsanse can be maybe 3 meters higher than at lowtide. That pushes the air above up some 3 meters. But of course went it falls the air is drawn in to fill the area. An area about 3,000 milies across W to E and 10 to 15,000 miles N to S. So a very large amount to fill. The air has to come from some where. The northern extent of the luna transit is South of Vermont, Maine, NH and Cape Cod. In fact it is probably south of New Orleans as well (But I never seen with my own eyes, so no 1st hand knowledge). So the Atlantic Ocean is higher South closer to the gravitational Luna pull. But the whole ocean is lowering where as the land masses are not (Or not as much (as the tidal difference is relative to land and sea)). So as the Moon crosses South of Memphis, Mississippi and New Orleans the altitude of the Atlantic from Newfound Land to South Africa and Argentina will rise or fall. All that water is beteen those continents so rises and falls as one as the water is beteen them. But North or south of there. The water can flow around the continents so can be leveled by waters from the Pacific. 6 hours after Memphis the Moon will be exerting it's affect upon the Pacific Ocean. So theAtlantic is going down and air is dranw in to the lower hollow. Less ir will be required over the rising Pacific so air rushes or moves from the Pacific across the USA to the Atlantic. That is all just normal. Normal moon, Jet Stream and location relatively close to a falling water mass. But in addition to all that. 4,000 KM to the NE there is a hugh land mass called Greenland from 60 degrees south to 83.6 degrees north. It is twice the size of the USA. But generally it is all very high with about 90% above 1.5 miles high and about 5% above 2 miles. Therefore 90% is covered in Ice Sheet. Very Cold Ice sheet. It is not part of the polar region as some may think because of the snow and Ice there. As it is as far south as 60 degrees. The volume of Ice and frozen snow is due to the high altitude. The whole lsnd mass creates a partial block to winds and air currents and a natural zero altitude sea level channel (Baffin Bay). So the falling Atantic draws air through the Baffin Channel which is channeled (Channeled means condensed, more volume is travelling faster through a narrower area) due to the high steep side of the Greenland plateau which rises from zero meters to over 2 miles. Not only is the air frawn through the Baffin channel but also over Vermont New Hampshire and Maine from the Lakes to Ohio. The wind is not just over Mt Washington. It covers a vast area. Thousands of cubic miles are moving. Mt Washington is just about the only point high enough to be in it. Then there are local conditions that channel varying currents at that location. So the main wind center cound be a thousand miles as well as being hundreds of miles away. Pulling air to fill the air space (Vacume) resulting from the falling Atlantic Ocean. Hope my theory helps.
Can someone please explain to me why the person on the right is not being affected by this wind and why at 36 seconds the wind all of a sudden does not affect the wind blown man any longer?
+Misty Ortiz Hello, the person on the right and the person holding the camera were downwind of our observation tower so the wind was not affecting them. In high winds, an eddy will develop along the rails so there is a small area with light winds, similar to sitting in the bed of a pickup truck while going down the highway.
This is what it feels like to run in dreams
YES! I thought it was just me, but I remember having multiple dreams where when I run it feels as if there is low gravity and ik running against the wind. It feels quite odd
+Cristopher Orellana that's so true, everytime i want to run or something, it's like i have trouble to move my feet in front of me
I feel like I'm trying to run through water of something
Krusty Krab pizza! Is the pizza! For you and me!

Full disclosure I got that from comedian Ron White. Seemed apropos here.

I would face the other way and try to do those three mario jumps.
NH resident, here! If you go to the Mount Washington observation deck/museum, etc. you can view many other videos like this. It's a blast!
And then he stands up like nothing is happening and walks normally at the end.
+David Quinn maybe he got into a wind-shadow of some sort...
+David Quinn The fence was blocking the wind at that point.
+John Hoefer or behind the camera, there could be some kind of powerful fan (ventilator) for research, so its blowing just in one narrow direction
+David Quinn you can see the wind hard from the beginning, man could not play it
I dunno Anna, I can jump and change directions in mid-air like ua-cam.com/video/ezIqFyjAUP4/v-deo.html >_>
But yeah, the fence at the end blocks the wind. Like when there's heaps of wind next to a building and then suddenly you take a step and there's no more wind at all! ^_^

1. Put on a cape
2. Turn the other way
3. Jump
You're now SuperMan
Should use a wingsuit with a tag line.
I bet with enough practice you could hover if angled just right and had a wing suit.
+badmotorscooter H and I bet within your first few attempts you'll catch a 120mph gust and go soaring backwards down the mountain
How it feels when you're running in a dream.
I THOUGHT I WASTHE ONLY ONE WHO THOGHT THAT
You'd think after a while he would realize the wind is going to win that one.
We climbed this when I was eight, but we did so in the summer. The snack bar at the top had two huge chains over the top to hold it down.
Imagine how fast you could run if you were running with the wind
Wonder if you could make a human kite by wearing a wing suit and being attached to a rope.
Falling would hurt a fuck lot
***** Not if you don't go to high :D
+Anarchy Time Yes :D
"It's windy"
"No, it's Thursday"
"Me too. Lets go get a cup of tea"
I'd be like sonic and run fast in that wind.
I thought the same. That was a missed oportunity.
You're smart.
I like you.
+Edwin Olio you guys do realize that it's a mountain?
What happens when you trip on a rock?

Sorry guys, it looks like badminton game's cancelled for today.
good day to go sailing
that looks so fun to mess around in
it looks cold
wing suits would make that experience more enjoyable

I believe I can fly
I believe I can touch the sky
I think about it every night and day
Spread my wings and fly away
I imagine someone with one of those big kite things would freaken dissappear in those winds.
That actually looks like fun.
So now I know. Every time I'm running in a dream I'm really just in 100+ wind
I would just jump in the direction the wind was going hahaha
Now they just gotta get home in 100+ wind
Blow blow thou winter wind
It nearly feels and look like that IF the globe Earth is spinning 1000 MPH... just 10 times stronger winds.
that is very very brave..Correct me if I'm wrong, but the other side of that railing is several hundred feet drop if not thousands of feet.
idk why but at the first part I thought it was bad but when the guy jumped it seemed fun

Proud to call the Mt Washington Valley my home. Keep up the good work up there!
Forget the stair climber for workouts. Give me 110mph winds.
Looks like fun :)
i would really enjoy that
In the end he's like: whatever, fuck the wind haha
Let me just throw a 180 mph fast ball for a scouting video real quick

What would you consider to be the windiest month of the year at Mt. Washington Observatory?
+Gatti G January is the windiest month for the summit but winds frequently top 100mph from December to early April.
When Irma is expected to reach winds of up to 185mph...

no, your just thinking of 300 miles per hour winds.
