    Welcome to our channel! We are located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest (PNW)! We are in the middle of our journey to create a beautiful Japanese maple garden and develop bonsai trees for everyone to enjoy. Our garden is under construction but we hope to open it up to public in the near future! Follow us if you love Japanese maples and want to know what's happening in our garden! In this channel, we focus on walking thru our Japanese maple bonsai garden throughout all seasons, discussing how to prune Japanese maples, how to air layer Japanese maples, how to propagate Japanese maples and how to take care of them including pruning, fertilizing, etc.

    Winter comes. Time to reflect on the summer's achievements and plot for the future. Though I must say it's been balmy and in the 70°s approaching 80° for the last several days down here. Tomorrow night down to freezing. Funny old world. Have fun.

    I loved all the new surprises! Those yamadori Hemlock were very nice. The burning bush is also showing great structure, and i was happy to see the persimmon. I recently planted persimmon seeds i collected from the forest. Happy Holidays!

      Thanks for your comment! Each Yamadori tree has its character and it's fun to imagine what can be done :) I recently got some princess persimmon and planted some seeds too! Happy Holidays to you too!

    Beautiful trees, and the gorgeous plot of moss i could never grow in Central Texas. I have a couple coral bark Japanese maples and hope to try more next year. Nothing on the scale of what you are growing. Just looking at your garden fills me with tranquility.

      Thank you! It's pretty wet here in the PNW but it's not all that bad 😁 I love coral bark JM!

    Brother, you’ve been holding out! Your Mountain Hemlock collection is more extensive than you let on! The look up and under your old majestic fir trees is just....ahhhhhhh
    All your propagation efforts leads to some real work in fall, eh? But your results could not be better. I sure hope I can get down and take a walk about your garden when you open up (🤞🏼) to the public.

      You are welcome to come visit anytime! 😁 Haha yeah I got some great collected hemlocks and pines recently, love them! It's a long term project to grow JMs from seeds but it's been great to see the progress slowly but surely 😁👍

    What should I do to make sure my seedlings survive?

      I usually protect them in an unheated greenhouse or garage that stay above the freezing point and below 45F or so during the winter.

    I have them in the garage under a grow to lamp it doesn't get below 50 degrees. They are about an inch tall planted very close together in akadama pine park and pumice stone. I'm not sure whether or not I should separate them. Any advice would be helpful. I have been down this road before. They all died..😢

    • @MomijiEn
      @MomijiEn  2 роки тому +1

      They don't really need much light during dormancy and need to go dormant which gets triggered when the temperature consistently goes below 40-45F. (from my experience) I wouldn't disturb them now and would wait till late winter when new buds are about to open up to separate them.
