Great video Aki! It must be exciting waiting for the seedlings to germinate. With so many beautiful varieties in your garden, there's sure to be some interesting forms! Do you have a favorite tree that started as a seedling? 🪴🍁

Yes, exiting every year :) Yes i've got some trees that I started as a seeding - They are usually stronger than named cultivars and as beautiful!

Great information! I would love to see a video if u can on grafting a branch from the same tree to another spot on the trunk if u could. Its hard to find any video if at all on when and how to graft a single branch to another location on the trunk. Thanks keep up with the great videos

@@MomijiEn its called side veneer grafting. Ive seen it done in only a few videos with shimpaku. Im in nyc and tried mid feb and sap was coming out of the tree and was told it may not take. It seems to be an easier method if u dont have any very young seedling maples which i dont have. Just taking scions off the same tree with buds dormant and slipping them into the trunk.

I decided to winter stratify most of my seeds outside. Other than the recent cold spell it has been a fairly warm winter in the PNW, hopefully it was cold enough to get some seedlings 🤞
Thanks for sharing, will be interested to see if the floaters germinate

I usually winter stratify my seeds outside like the nature does and it works. I think we had enough cold days (under 40F over 30-40 days) let me know if yours germinate successfully! I'm also interested in seeing the results on those floating ones!

I sowed Sangu kaku and Bloodgood seeds last fall, so far a lot of the SK’s have germinated, still waiting on the BG’s.

Will be interested to if the 'floating-seed hypothesis' holds true.

Hello, was wondering if you sell and ship seeds? Is there a way to touch base with you? Thanks

I don't have seeds for sale now. If you are within the US, I may be able to ship some seeds next fall/winter

Hi, I’m guessing we live within 30-50 miles of each other. With our warmer than normal winter, I’m seeing buds starting to swell and my lilac is already pushing leaves. Any advice on what should be done if we get into another freeze? Thanks for the great content!

Put the plants in a shed or garage if freezing temps hit again.
