Great Video! Not only do we get a pilot's perspective of LaGuardia's short runways, but also the tight spacing as another jet is visible having just taken off on the same runway seconds before.
I have the utmost respect for pilots who are able to get their jet aircraft into LGA. That's one of the trickiest, hardest airports to get into, leaving very little room or margin for error. And that's in good weather conditions. I lived in NY during my teen years, and I experienced this as a passenger many times. What the hell were the developers and city officials thinking when they built those humungous, Godzilla-sized buildings right under the flight path into Runway 31???? JEEZ!!! you're only at 500 feet when you're going over those things!!
Ah yes! I remember this well... (on DC-9s and A320s). ACCURACY above all else on touchdown...Then - get off runway expeditiously and never go across the intersection with the crossing runway because then it'd be at least a half-hour longer to get back across the taxiway to the gate! ;-) nice video - thanks for sharing.
Well done, sir. I've flown the Rj9 and instructed for about 2200 hours and that was textbook. Had a trip that was supposed to take me into LGA for an overnight but I got sick and had to call out. :(
I was between 9000 - 10,000 hours TT when this was taken, the majority of which was in the CRJ-200 & 900. It's about how fine you want to slice it, and how far from the runway. For example, loosey goosey doesn't work in the flare. What I am doing it trying to accomodate every gust and fairly far out, so the aircraft doesn't start going in some undesired direction. 100% seat of the pants. You are always trying to get better. 747 video for reference: facebook.com/reel/695588245731704
im a big fan of pilots, and all the hard work they do. i always say thank you, to the pilots, after I de-plane.. i love watching planes land on Runway 4, at LGA.
Our version of Kai Tek. Was in the cabin of a 738 today and they shot this with a 20 knot crosswind from the right. Felt like we were at the Reno air races. And bumpy as hell. Not fun.
On this particular day Runway 4-22 was likely closed for construction as it’s clear they are arriving and departing Runway 31. And this video is 6 years old and that’s right around the time 4-22 was being rehabbed.
It's always exciting to watch from downtown Flushing when this approach is in use. So only one runway was in use on this day? Considering the line of planes waiting to take off
Average Joe like me unfortunately rate the pilot on just landing. When in fact, the whole duration of the flight be it one or 15 hours, the pilot is shitting in pants ready in anything goes wrong. Kudos to you pilots, thanks for keeping us safe.
jetroar17 Look for a suspension bridge with a tower that‘s lit up purple! They’re just to the right, and South of it. Finally figured that one out my last time.
The original tanks were actually removed (imploded) in 2001, the old ones were 400' tall painted with aviation red and white and could be seen from as far away as the Bronx. You couldn't miss them ny.curbed.com/2015/5/20/9959320/remembering-brooklyns-maspeth-holders-demolished-in-2001
I’ve got right at 2000 hours in this air frame. These guys did one hell of a job! Thanks for posting.
Man, that was right on the 1000 footers. Great job.
Great Video! Not only do we get a pilot's perspective of LaGuardia's short runways, but also the tight spacing as another jet is visible having just taken off on the same runway seconds before.
As a passenger, I love sitting on the left side of the plane for this approach!
You'll want the right side if they're doing the rwy 22 River visual
@@kinkisharyocoasters Yes! or the left side if they are doing left traffic to runway 22.
@@kinkisharyocoastersi prefer the Hudson 22 Visual too since it offers a better bird’s eye view of the skyline on a clear day.
Subscribed. Awesome flight. Heard the CRJ is pretty slippery and difficult to land without a long final.
Awesome video flying by NYC and over Queens. I spent 30 of my years there. Brought back memories.
Definitely easier from seat 2A! I lived in NYC for 35 years. By far, my favorite way into LGA. Thanks for this!

Quick little bastard! Love the CRJ family
Saw it in the sim a few times, but this the first time seeing it for real. Looks a little intense and a great landing to finish.

For anyone who thinks it's all cake and candy up front, watch the amount of control inputs required to handle this approach.
Brian Decker loosey goosey
I can definitely agree with what you're saying. As a pilot in training I can say the landing is the hardest part of every flight.

gotta love laguardia landings .
gotta find it first :) been there as a passenger, seemed to me like a water landing

Love watching this at 2x speed. I didn't realize how many adjustments the crew make on approach.
Hats off to this pilot!
When the professionals meet the cockpit😍😍
My first flight into LGA was from the right seat of an RJ, at night on the Expressway Visual...great memories.
What airline? When was it?

I love the CRJ, I fly it’s on MSFS often.
at 5:09 beautiful visual
Like a boss.
You made that look easy!

Nice, reminds me doing the stadium visual into EWR
Was thinking the same thing haha
i need to try this approach in the simulator. looks challenging
In XPlane

Great job on the landing and videography. A scenic approach but certainly not an easy one. You greased it!
Beautiful approach!
That was awesome, great job.
Amazing
That was sweet.

Very nice video
AWESOME!
Wow that looks like a bear of an approach to fly.
Nice crosswind correction
Would love to see this at night. Never could find those f--king tanks!

smooth!
Very fast exit from runway.
Nice one
Nice
Was that touchdown on the 1000' markers?
~ 750'

why does the displays in cockpit FLICKERS when filmed?
Frequency difference between displays and camera

DCA 19 is very similar
Where is this?
LGA airport. NYC
MIB at 4:02 !!!
Hahaha you are right
hard landing
NICOCRAFT I bet you do a better job on fsx
some hard
you can't even land the plane
Your don’t try to grease landings at LGA. Get in on the ground and slow down ASAP
@@alh4899 Ironically, he can't even execute a half decent landing on FSX.
