I never owned a boat but back in 1986 I made a few hundred EPIRBS for a company called Excellatron .....I made everything....made the antennae and the circuit boards and then did the *burn-in* testing in the Faraday Cage and these were the old (now) type that transmitted 2 different frequencies (lower and higher) I think the company closed soon after I quit working there and the owner had died.
