  • Here's a bunch of old commercials I rescued from a Betamax videotape. They were recorded off CKND in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
More fun nostalgia can be found on my blog: www.classicalga...

7:36 Wow, Consumers Distributing. That place is where we got everything when I was a kid. I had totally forgotten.

Agreed! However half of the time the item you wanted wasn't in stock, or it was previously opened.

Ah! The ‘Personal Encounters ‘ video dating service! About the time this ad aired, I was making my own dating video for this company, after a fellow college student/friend, who stated that she had a cousin who, although he didn’t live in Winnipeg, would be perfect for me. Only catch was, she didn’t know how to get us together, being from different towns. She never mentioned anything about Personal Encounters, but another person told me to give it a shot. Well, I met the man of my dreams through PE, and we’ve been married almost 30 years. And yes, he turned out to be my college friend’s cousin, the one she thought would be perfect for me. He was also the first video
    I looked at after joining,

God I wish to be a kid again...why? Because the 80's were awesome, why? Because less stress indeed...and just a great...relaxing type of an erra of life.

Ithinkiwill66 yup, the 80s were great, could walk around downtown after dark, Eaton's was open, all the great little shops were all open on Portage like all the record stores, and Long John Silver's Arcade..such a different time.. wish it was like that again!

The ad with "Low Rider" playing in the background for Advance Electronics was a generic one, because I remember it airing in Saskatoon as an ad for Krazy Kiley's Electronics.
